Chapter 357: “Anyone Trying to Get My Attention?”
Chapter 357: “Anyone Trying to Get My Attention?”
In the sky, Joy Boy in his Nika form was having the time of his life. His white rubber arms rained down like a storm, hammering against the half-hawkified Gals. Laughter and thunderous collisions intertwined in the air.Gals relied on his refined combat skills, razor-sharp talons, and Conqueror's Haki infusion to steadily withstand the chaotic yet overwhelming assault.
The battle had reached its peak.
After another violent clash, both of them used the recoil to separate, preparing to charge again.
Then, at that exact moment—
"Buru buru buru… Buru buru buru…"
An extremely out-of-place Den Den Mushi ringtone suddenly rang from Gals' waist.
His movements froze.
A flash of surprise, followed by visible irritation at being interrupted, crossed his hawk-like eyes.
But he clearly recognized the special ringtone. After a brief pause, he raised a hand toward Joy Boy, signaling a stop.
Ritter twitched at the corner of his mouth.
Every time he saw this scene, his worldview felt like it was being rebuilt from scratch. This was the benefit of a "new generation pirate era," huh.
To put it simply, even Roger couldn't get Garp to stop mid-fight. But here, Gals could just say "pause" and Joy Boy would actually pause.
Roger and Garp, you really lost too much to these two.
"Hey! Gals! Why'd you stop all of a sudden? We were just getting to the good part!" Joy Boy complained, his rubber body still bouncing slightly in the air, though he obediently halted.
He tilted his head in curiosity.
Gals ignored him completely and reached out, casually smacking Joy Boy's stretched-out ear back into place.
"Hey! What was that for? If you don't want to listen, just say so! No need to hit me!" Joy Boy protested.
Ritter's mouth twitched again.
Bro, you were literally eavesdropping on his call. Getting hit for that is already generous.
Gals took out the ringing Den Den Mushi and answered it immediately.
A steady middle-aged voice came through clearly, even echoing faintly through Ritter's blood mist down to his ship.
Ritter raised an eyebrow.
Oh? Your phone is that loud? Is there even any point in trying to "secretly listen"?
The voice spoke urgently.
"Gals! Emergency report! Kacha Island was attacked thirty minutes ago! The witnesses describe the attackers as matching your current targets, Joy Boy and Blood Reaper Ritter! The island suffered heavy losses. Request immediate support!"
Silence.
In the sky, Gals froze.
In the mist, Ritter paused mid bite of roasted meat.
And Joy Boy blinked.
"…"
Three identical question marks seemed to hang above their heads.
Joy Boy's exaggerated grin stiffened.
"Kacha Island? What's that? I've been fighting here the whole time!"
Ritter narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing through them.
"Heh. Interesting. Framing? Or a copycat?"
Gals looked utterly stunned for the first time.
He glanced at Joy Boy, then down at Ritter still casually sitting in the mist, then back at the battlefield they had not left for a single moment.
He fell silent for a few seconds.
Then he spoke into the Den Den Mushi.
"I can guarantee they have been with me this entire time. There is no possibility they attacked Kacha Island. The report is false. Investigate immediately. Someone may be impersonating them."
A brief pause.
Then the reply came.
"Understood. But the situation is chaotic. You should also check it yourself. Return after handling this."
Click.
The call ended.
Gals exhaled slowly. His battle intent had not vanished, but something heavier now sat in its place.
Joy Boy scratched his head.
"So someone's pretending to be us and doing bad stuff? That's terrible!"
Ritter appeared on deck, blood mist curling lazily around him.
"Looks like someone doesn't want us enjoying a proper fight," he said lightly.
"Or they want the Navy to eliminate two 'unstable factors' at once."
Gals turned around, Conqueror's Haki slowly fading from his body.
"I have to confirm the situation at Kacha Island. This fight ends here. Next time, we continue."
He stepped back toward his ship.
"Hey, hey, hey, wait a second," Ritter called out lazily. "Take us with you."
Gals frowned slightly.
"Military matters. No time for games. Catch up yourselves."
Ritter smiled.
"Well, well. Things are getting interesting."
His eyes narrowed slightly, amusement flickering within.
"A copycat, huh…"
He chuckled under his breath.
"Whoever it is…"
"If I catch them, they're going to die very badly."
