Chapter 918 - 918: [918] : The Final Battle

Unfortunately for them, fate had other plans. Just as they were debating how to deal with Super Perfect Cell, he appeared in the conference hall. This was completely out of character.

Everyone thought the same thing.

After all, Cell's previous killings had all been assassinations.

Even this time, after his return, he had killed Android 16 in secret.

He didn't seem to enjoy open slaughter.

It had to be said, Cell's deception was masterful. He had fooled almost everyone.

Cell was inherently evil, and a cunning schemer besides. He feared that others might figure out his patterns, so he deliberately disguised his methods.

And he had succeeded in deceiving them all.

Except for Shin.

Coming from another world, Shin knew a great deal more. Even if no one believed him, he trusted his own memories.

He knew from the start that, given Cell's true nature, he preferred outright slaughter followed by swift absorption.

Although Shin had his own doubts after Cell's performance, Goku's self-destruction and Cell's subsequent reappearance confirmed it for him—the world's timeline was attempting to correct itself.

But he hadn't paid much attention to the global conference on Cell.

He hadn't been invited, so why should he care?

He was busy practicing his combat techniques, taking Kushina out on dates, going to the supermarket, sightseeing, and traveling.

It had been a long time since he'd had such a peaceful period.

The endless battles and constant crises had left him utterly weary of this chaotic life.

But he had no choice. Every time he achieved something and was about to settle down, the System would intervene.

It would force him to go to other worlds, to fight, to have adventures.

He had made friends, earned trust, and grown stronger through these journeys. He had seen different worlds, understood their development and their plans.

But did any of that truly matter to him?

Before he was transmigrated, he had yearned for a life of adventure.

He admitted that before arriving in the world of Naruto, he had felt his life was too dull, almost unbearable.

But after arriving in the world of Naruto—with its ninja villages and the Five Great Nations constantly at war—he had grown tired of the bloodshed and sacrifice. He had no power to stop it.

Later, as he grew stronger, surpassing all previous Hokage, all previous ninja, he finally seemed to have the power to make a change. But then the System had intervened again, throwing him into the world of One Piece.

He didn't want that life anymore. He just wanted to live quietly with Kushina and the others.

He felt the same way now, stealing moments of peace in this chaotic, lawless world.

He was tired of it all.

It seemed that for every gift life gave, Lady Luck demanded a price of equal value.

The price for changing his once-mundane life was giving up the right to live peacefully.

Adventure was like a walled city; those outside longed to get in, while those inside yearned to get out.

They didn't know what the other side was like, but they knew their own lives were not as good as they had imagined the other to be.

Shin stroked Kushina's hair, his right hand tightening around her left. He leaned his head gently against hers.

He didn't want to be separated again.

He didn't want to be a puppet of the System anymore.

Meanwhile, back at the Capitol Building, Super Perfect Cell was on a rampage.

Vegeta, Piccolo, and Tien were already beaten bloody.

Vegeta was in the worst shape. He refused to admit defeat, and with his Super Saiyan constitution, he was completely defiant.

Super Perfect Cell seemed to be enjoying himself, toying with them.

Every time Vegeta charged, Cell would swat him across the face with a heavy backhand, sending him spinning like a top.

Yes, Super Perfect Cell's power had evolved to this point. Even Vegeta in his Super Saiyan state was no match for him.

Cell could hit him wherever he wanted, however he wanted.

He could make Vegeta spin like a top for as long as he pleased.

Everyone had lost hope. Even Gohan, fighting with all he had, couldn't land a single meaningful blow on Super Perfect Cell.

Was this what they considered a final battle?

Vegeta's thoughts were a bitter mix of despair and regret.

'The gap between us is this massive? If only I had Goku's strength...'

Tears welled in Vegeta's eyes, dripping onto the floor.

Trunks had already slipped away from the conference hall.

He knew that with their current strength, they had no hope of defeating Super Perfect Cell. So he began to prepare, relying on the power of the time machine to travel to the past once more, to see if he could somehow change the future.

If he could, their chances of victory would be much higher.

Even if it was a one-way trip, a journey from which he could never return, Trunks was willing to pay the price.

For the survival of all humanity, Son Goku had given his life. Why couldn't he, Trunks, do the same?

Just as Trunks, in his Super Saiyan state, was racing across the land to get to the time machine, Cell noticed the boy's little maneuver.

Using his flight technique, Super Perfect Cell's speed far surpassed Trunks's. There was no way he would let him reach the time machine.

He landed in front of Trunks in an instant, his voice cold and condescending. "Don't run off, little boy!"

Trunks kicked up a cloud of dust, flinging it into Super Perfect Cell's face.

Cell flinched, and in that moment, Trunks had already put a considerable distance between them.

Cell's playful demeanor finally vanished, replaced by a cold fury.

He began to pursue Trunks with his full speed.
