Chapter 917 - 917: [917] : Super Perfect Cell's Arrogance
Chapter 917 - 917: [917] : Super Perfect Cell's Arrogance
A series of notifications flashed in Shin's mind.[Main Quest: Phase Two has been activated: Defeat Super Perfect Cell.]
[Reward: A choice between copying Super Saiyan 2 or the Kamehameha.]
[Side Quest: Kill Super Perfect Cell.]
[Reward: Unknown.]
The system's update caught Shin completely off guard.
It seemed that since arriving in the world of Dragon Ball, the system had adopted a new operational model—or perhaps it had upgraded.
After all, he'd never seen an "Unknown" reward before.
But since the mission had appeared, it meant one thing was certain: Cell wasn't dead.
And he had returned as Super Perfect Cell.
As for when he would reappear, the system didn't say, and Shin had no idea.
But he had a feeling it would be soon.
—
October 21st, at night.
Android 16 was hunched over his desk, studying the data on the androids that Bulma had sent him.
Ever since Cell's death, his spirits had lifted considerably. He had joined Bulma's research team, driven by her work in android-related fields. He served as both a researcher and a test subject, providing valuable data for her experiments.
Bulma had recently acquired new combat data from the time of Androids 17 and 18, so 16 had been working late into the night. It was well past two in the morning.
At that moment, Super Perfect Cell materialized silently in Android 16's room.
His power was now so far beyond Android 16's that he could move with absolute impunity, hiding in the shadows undetected.
A single, devastating ki blast struck Android 16's core, obliterating him before he could utter a single word.
Cell stepped out of the darkness and silently absorbed Android 16's remains.
At this point, absorbing Android 16 wouldn't provide a significant boost to his power.
But it fulfilled a long-held desire.
Before Goku had dragged him to King Kai's Planet, his goal had been to absorb all the androids, enhance his strength, and conquer the Earth. Then, he would consume every last human, making them a part of him and solidifying his reign.
A flicker of triumph sparked in Cell's mind.
After all, Son Goku was well and truly dead.
As for Vegeta and the others... could they really withstand a single full-power blow from him now? In his current state, he was confident he could have easily defeated the Goku he'd faced that day.
If that was the case, who in this world could possibly stop him from taking over the entire planet?
Krillin? Piccolo? Tien? Or the new generation, Trunks and Gohan?
The thought was laughable.
To herald his return and strike terror into the hearts of humanity, Cell decided to leave a message.
He walked to the wall, extended his right index finger, and carved a single, chilling line:
"The killer: Super Perfect Cell!"
—
The next day, when Android 16 didn't show up at the lab, Bulma's staff sent someone to his house to check on him.
The man who discovered the scene collapsed in terror at the sight of the words scrawled on the wall.
He scrambled to contact Bulma, who immediately informed Vegeta and Shin.
Vegeta, for all his pride, was terrified. He wasn't a fool.
He knew that this reborn Super Perfect Cell was far more powerful than before.
He would be completely outmatched.
With Goku gone, there was no one left on Earth who could stop him.
Shin, however, remained perfectly calm. The system's mission had already confirmed that Cell was still alive.
Hearing that he had returned as Super Perfect Cell came as no surprise.
Vegeta immediately summoned Tien and the others. They gathered to discuss the reappearance of Super Perfect Cell and, more importantly, to figure out a way to stop him.
Killing him was the ideal outcome, but if that wasn't possible, sealing or imprisoning him would be acceptable. Even driving him off-world to wreak havoc elsewhere was on the table.
But as the meeting began, a heavy silence fell over the room.
The power gap was simply too vast.
If the difference were smaller, plenty of fighters would have jumped at the chance to challenge Super Perfect Cell, to make a name for themselves.
But that wasn't the situation. Even world-class fighters like Mr. Satan had been taken down in a single hit by the old Cell—and that was likely with Cell holding back.
This new Super Perfect Cell was far stronger. A single blow could be fatal.
All the heroes gathered in this room wouldn't last a minute against him.
So they all remained silent.
Many looked to Bulma, hoping her recent research into androids had produced something—anything—that could be used against him. If she had a weapon or a tool, they might be able to mount some kind of resistance.
But Bulma could only shake her head, admitting her research had yielded no results.
Expressions of helplessness and despair washed over the room. Some slumped in their chairs, seemingly resigned to the grim fate of humanity being ruled, and eventually consumed, by Cell.
Shin, for his part, was completely unaware of these events. Not being a native of this world, he hadn't been invited to the global conference and had no say in the matter.
Vegeta had thought of Shin, but perhaps because of Shin's youthful appearance, he deemed him unreliable, incapable of saving the Earth.
Or perhaps it was the influence of the world's timeline, trying to correct itself. For whatever reason, despite knowing Shin's power, Vegeta never invited him to the meeting.
And so, humanity's last hope, Shin, was left out of the final plan to confront Super Perfect Cell.
