Chapter 44 The key is hidden here, right?
"Don't attack, don't cast spells, and try not to make any noise," Ambermin instructed anxiously. "It can only last for a short time; you'll become visible after that."
"How long can it last?"
"Let's see how much magic I have left."
"How much do you have left?"
Amber was silent for a moment: "Not many."
Chu Sheng immediately stood up: "Okay, I'll go outside and take a look first."
"Go back to the guest quarters," Amber interrupted him.
"What?"
"Go back." Her tone was calm. "Tell your companions to leave the Sacred Tree Forest tomorrow morning. As long as you leave, they won't chase after you for the time being."
"And what about you?"
"I'll hold."
"Wait for what? Wait for them to give you a bigger chain?"
Although Amber couldn't see him, her gaze remained fixed on Chu Sheng's face, and her voice lowered: "Chu Sheng, you've already unlocked my wrist lock, that's enough. At least I can help you escape and seek help from the Empire."
"I don't want to." Chu Sheng put the key back into his waistband, turned around and looked into the depths of the bedchamber. "I don't agree, and there's nothing you can do to stop me."
He had only been looking at the bed and window when he came in, and hadn't really looked at the bedroom carefully. Now he noticed that there was a narrow door at the back of the bedroom, hidden by a hanging white vine curtain.
"What's behind that?"
Amber's expression changed: "Don't go!"
"The key might be over there?" Chu Sheng's eyes lit up.
"Don't go!" Amber repeated, her voice tinged with anxiety.
Chu Sheng turned to look at her. An Bowen's hands were still trembling, and the waist chain kept her firmly locked to the bed. She clearly couldn't even sit up, yet she still looked at him with that worried gaze.
"Go back now, and leave tomorrow." She said each word clearly, "Take the message to the Empire, or to Audrey. Do not go any further into the inner palace."
"It seems the key is most likely there," Chu Sheng said to himself, ignoring her.
"Chu Sheng!"
"Your Majesty," Chu Sheng turned around, interrupting her, "you may have some misunderstanding about me."
"I'm actually not a very brave person, and I've never liked meddling in other people's business."
"But I have a fatal flaw."
"I really like beautiful women, and I especially like helping them, and Your Majesty happens to be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."
Amber's ears turned slightly red, clearly she had never heard such a direct compliment before. She whispered, "But even if you stay, it might not change anything."
"We should still give it a try." Chu Sheng smiled. "Here's an ancient saying from a distant world for you."
"Since we're already here..."
Ambrose stared blankly in the direction from which Chu Sheng's voice came. After a moment, she finally spoke, "There is a maid outside."
"That one just now?"
"Yes. She'll be standing on the right side of the entourage. You go to the left, and don't touch the vase on the wall; there's a warning vine in it."
"Anything else?"
"Behind the rattan curtain is an inner corridor, at the end of which is a door. The door is not locked, but there is a ring of revealing powder on the threshold. Do not step on the threshold; climb over the door frame."
Chu Sheng listened and nodded, "What happens next?"
Amber paused. "I don't know. I haven't been inside in a long time."
"Is there anything else you want to say?" Chu Sheng nodded and continued to ask.
"If you're discovered, don't worry about me, just run," Amber said earnestly, her emerald green eyes filled with worry. "And if we can't escape..."
"There are no 'ifs'," Chu Sheng interrupted her, turning back with a smile. "That sounds ominous."
Amber was silent for a moment, then said in a voice so soft it was almost inaudible, "Don't die."
Chu Sheng didn't answer, and turned to walk towards the rattan curtain. Halfway there, he stopped and looked back at Amber on the bed.
Amber was still looking in his direction, her long, pale golden hair spread out on the snow-white sheets, the thin blanket outlining her stunning curves that intertwined purity and lust.
You look so beautiful.
Chu Sheng bent down and walked through the rattan curtain into the depths of the palace.
The inner corridor was narrow, with the walls on both sides featuring the grain of living wood and inlaid with fine silver lines. The silver lines would light up every few steps, like the breathing lamps that Chu Sheng had seen in his previous life.
As he reached the edge of the servants' hall, he caught a glimpse of a maid in a white dress standing to his right—the very same strange man who had climbed through the window earlier.
She stood with her back to the bedchamber, her hands hanging at her sides, her posture upright, like a puppet with its strings cut.
Chu Sheng slowly moved past her from behind, and the maid suddenly tilted her head.
Her ears twitched, as if she had heard something. The next moment, she turned her face and stared straight at Chu Sheng's position.
Chu Sheng immediately held his breath!
The maid stared at his position for a while, then suddenly reached out her hand, her fingertips less than a centimeter from Chu Sheng's chest.
Chu Sheng slowly leaned back, his movements as slow as an old man practicing Tai Chi in a park.
The maid frowned slightly, not having touched anything. Before she could retract her hand, Chu Sheng ducked to the side and slipped under her arm.
Only after he quietly left the audience hall did the gaze behind him slowly move away.
Chu Sheng gave himself a thumbs up. This is what an assassin should be like! What kind of assassin just swings an axe around randomly?
The door was at the end of the inner corridor, with a ring of light gray powder on the threshold. Chu Sheng carefully stepped over it.
Behind the door was a large inner room with no windows; the light came from the hard-colored "breathing lights" on the walls. In the center of the room was a long table covered with keys, lock rings, silver needles, medicine bottles, and some rune stone fragments that Chu Sheng couldn't understand.
Wait, the key!
He immediately went over and checked them one by one. The first bunch of keys was large, with coarse teeth, like the kind used to open a gate. The second bunch was smaller, with patterns engraved on it, but it probably wouldn't fit into a chain. The third bunch had a wooden sign hanging from it, which read "South Drawbridge". Next to the fourth bunch was a note that read "Garden Fountain".
Chu Sheng's face grew increasingly dark. He searched through all the keys on the table but couldn't find one made of the same material as the chain on Amber.
Chu Sheng started rummaging through the closets again. The first closet was full of white dresses, the second closet was full of white socks, and when the third closet was opened, a whole row of elven underwear was neatly hung there. Just by looking at the cup size, you could tell that the elves were born with extraordinary talent.
He remained silent for a moment, didn't smell it, and simply closed the cabinet door.
Just then, footsteps came from the other side of the inner room. Just to be safe, Chu Sheng immediately crawled under the long table.
The white skirt swept across the floor and stopped beside the table.
Chu Sheng looked outside and saw a pair of fair and slender legs, and golden rattan shoes.
It's Estelle!
She walked to the long table, picked up a silver needle from the table, examined it carefully, and then put it back.
"His Majesty seems to be in good spirits tonight," she muttered to herself. "Have the chains come loose?"
Estelle walked around the table once, then sat down in the soft chair behind the long table. Chu Sheng had just breathed a sigh of relief when he quickly realized something was wrong again.
She doesn't seem to be leaving!
Esta leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and her magnificent chest rose and fell slightly with her breath.
Chu Sheng's gaze was involuntarily drawn to her alluring curves, slowly moving upwards. Estella wore a platinum-colored long dress for a servant, with a neckline lower than that of ordinary maids, revealing a deep and alluring slit.
Something flashed in the light from that tightly compressed, narrow crevice.
Chu Sheng rubbed his eyes in disbelief. It was a thin silver chain that had slipped deep into his collar and was tightly held between his two magnificent breasts.
OK OK.
You hid the key here, right?
