Chapter 725: Chapter 725 - What Drives Her?
"Ivana?! Nowhere to be found?!"
The words barely registered before Broken bolted from the room without a second thought. "Pawpaw, search the entire city and the outskirts. Find out where Ivana is," he ordered.
His footsteps echoed through the corridor as his shadow split into multiple forms, each one darting away. Behind him, Maylock and the others rushed to keep up, with Fokil running right at his side.
"I was with her! We were in the same room, eating," Fokil blurted out, breathless and clearly panicked. "I just stepped out for a moment - just to ask for more food. It was only a few minutes, I swear! But when I came back... she was gone. I couldn't find her anywhere," he said, his voice trembling.
Ivana...
Broken quickly checked his affinity status. Her name was still there. She was alive. She had to be.
But why did she suddenly disappear?
This wasn't like her.
Ivana wouldn't just leave without a word. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
"Could someone else have entered the room while you were out, sir?" Broken asked again.
Because in reality, the room where he and the others had been discussing matters was right next to the one where Fokil and Ivana had been.
"No, kid," Fokil replied, shaking his head firmly. "I didn't leave the door unattended, not even for a second. I only stepped out for a moment - just past the doorway. I'm certain no one went inside, and I didn't hear a thing."
Broken frowned, his mind racing. Ivana's sudden disappearance wasn't a coincidence.
Someone or something was behind this!
Ivana he knew would never do anything that might make people worry. She wasn't that kind of person.
Broken kept running, his footsteps pounding against the stone as he headed out of the castle to continue the search. But then, a thought crept into his mind - one he couldn't ignore.
Wasn't this Ivana... different now?
Wasn't she no longer entirely the girl he once knew?
He clenched his fists tightly, trying to push the doubt away.
He had spoken with her — right after she regained her dragon memories. She was still her. The way she spoke, the emotions in her voice, everything about her was the same Ivana he had always known.
That was the real Ivana. He was sure of it.
The search party spread out, combing through the castle grounds and the surrounding areas. Broken had sent Polly to scout from above. But as time dragged on, there was still no sign of her.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, Broken spotted someone striding quickly through the courtyard, a knight trailing close behind.
Broken glanced at Maylock. "Does it have something to do with the High Elf Queen? Or
perhaps with the great war from the past."
Maylock leaned back in his chair. "Ivana should have regained some of her sealed memories... but the question is, how much has she remembered?"
A heavy silence fell over the group. No one spoke.
They all knew what Maylock was implying. Ivana's past was shrouded in tragedy - her entire family had been brutally slaughtered by the High Elves and the Demons. That alone was enough to break anyone. And on top of that, there was her destiny, one she couldn't escape - her fate as the Greed Champion.
"Do you think... She's after revenge?" Broken asked quietly.
"If that's what's on her mind..." Maylock's eyes scanned the group before he continued. "She couldn't do it alone."
Broken clenched his fists, frustration simmering beneath his calm exterior. No matter how hard he tried to stay rational, the worry gnawed at him.
Maylock's voice broke through his thoughts. "We'll continue the search. We'll wait for everyone to log back in, and once we've regrouped, we'll discuss our next steps in more
detail."
Broken gave a slight nod.
Maylock continued. "She's no ordinary girl. She's the Ancestral Wielder of the Greed Champion. One of her most dangerous abilities is the power to create any skill she needs. If she suddenly chose to leave us without a word..."
He met Broken's eyes. "I'm sure she had a reason. And I'm equally sure she's already thought
it through before taking action."
"But... is she safe?"
Maylock shook his head slowly. "We can't say for certain. But one thing is clear our only
true threat right now is the High Elf Queen. And so far, we've received no reports that she's
made any moves."
Despite Maylock's calm tone, no one in the room looked reassured.
Least of all Broken.
Broken received the notification. His time was up.
"I'll be back once my playtime is restored," he said.
With a final glance at Maylock and the others, he took a deep breath before the system forced
him to log out.
