Chapter 53 RV Travel
Chapter 53 RV Travel
Another month has passed.
The higher-ups have agreed.
These four words played repeatedly in his mind for about thirty seconds, then he closed his eyes and asked Chaos a question deep in his consciousness.
What do you think?
Chaos did not answer.
The electronic lock beeped around 3 p.m.
Liara stood in the doorway.
She brought good news this time.
She was holding a document in her hand.
"Let's go," she said, "I'll treat you to dinner."
Lu Siye looked at her for about two seconds.
Then he stood up, walked to the door, reached out, took the document from her hand, opened it, and looked at it for about ten seconds.
"What are the conditions?"
He asked, closed the file, and handed it back to her.
Liara took the document, put it in her handbag, and looked up at him.
"Southern Siam," she said, "is home to three thousand caves and the Starry Winged Fire Serpent."
Lu Siye frowned.
"The royal family wants the Winged Fire Serpent as their guardian beast," Liara continued. "Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?"
"But this attack terrified them."
"Fusang has the Kang Jinlong, and the other major countries in the Eastern Continent each have their own guardian beasts, but Siam has none."
"Chadar said that the old men in the royal family were really anxious this time. They searched everywhere for information, sifted through folk tales and ancient books, and finally got this clue out of an old hunter in the south."
"Three thousand pits?" Lu Siye asked.
"Yes," Liara nodded, "I'd never heard of that place before. I checked a map and found out it's in the southernmost part of Siam, near the coastline."
"The landform is very unique, like the surface of the moon, with craters everywhere, big and small. It is said that there are more than three thousand craters, so it is called the Three Thousand Craters."
"The old hunter said that when he was young, he saw a snake-like creature, all red in color, crawl out of a hole, swallow a whole wild boar, and then crawl back in."
"He was terrified and ran back to tell the villagers, but no one believed him."
"Later, when he got old, he would still talk about this when he drank, and everyone thought he was just bragging."
Do you think he's telling the truth?
Liara shrugged.
"have no idea."
"But the royal family is now willing to try any lead."
Lu Siye remained silent for a moment.
"What is my mission?" he asked.
Liara looked at him, and the light in her eyes changed slightly.
"Bait".
"The army will follow you," Liara said. "If the Winged Fire Serpents really exist, they will be responsible for capturing them."
"But if we can't win..."
"I have a second task," Lu Siye continued.
Liara nodded.
She didn't say what the second task was, and he didn't ask.
Because the answer is too obvious.
If the army can't win, then he'll have to fight.
chaos.
Kang Jinlong of Fusang is the guardian beast of the country, an ally, and a protector.
However, if the Kingdom of Siam wants to transform the winged fire serpent into a guardian deity, the process will certainly not be a simple dinner party.
They need to subdue it first, or at least let it know that humans are not to be trifled with.
And he, Lu Siye, whose body harbors the ferocious beast Chaos, is the card they hold in their hands.
Not an ace.
That's our trump card.
A card that you won't reveal unless absolutely necessary, a card that, once revealed, can never be taken back, and a card that could potentially destroy your opponent or yourself.
"I accept," he said.
Liara did not show any surprise.
She probably already knew he would say that.
It wasn't because he had no other choice, but because the matter itself was also beneficial to him.
Three Thousand Caves is located at the southernmost tip of Siam, far from the central capital.
Moreover, if the Winged Fire Serpent really exists, it wouldn't be a bad thing for him.
"Let's go," he said.
She smiled, nodded, then turned around, took his hand, and walked out of the cell.
The guard opened the door.
The light from outside streamed in.
Lu Siye hasn't seen the sunlight for almost two months.
His pupils contracted for a moment; his eyes needed time to adjust after being deprived of light for so long.
He took a deep breath.
This is real air, flowing, alive, air that belongs to freedom.
He stood at the doorway, eyes closed, and took a deep, slow, greedy breath.
"call--"
He exhaled and opened his eyes.
Liara stood in front of him, about five steps away.
She raised her hand and waved to him.
"You've become ugly," she said.
"You look better," he said.
Liara paused for a moment, then laughed.
"Let's go," she straightened up, reached out and took his hand, "The car is over there."
The next few days felt like a vacation.
Liara somehow acquired a motorhome.
The car has a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a dining table that can seat six people.
The refrigerator was crammed with food and drinks, the wine cabinet was filled with red wine and whiskey of various vintages, and the storage room was piled with snacks and fruit, making it look like a mobile supermarket.
"The budget is more than enough," Liara said, sitting in the driver's seat, fastening her seatbelt, turning to look at Lu Siyue in the passenger seat, a smirk on her face. "With the support of the entire royal family, money is no object."
Lu Siye leaned back in his seat, looking at the sky outside the windshield.
"Aren't you going to open it?" he asked.
"You drive first," Liara said, inserting the key into the ignition switch and turning it. "We'll switch it out once we're out of town."
The RV slowly drove out of the parking lot and onto the highway.
Lia drove for about two hours, then stopped at a gas station by the roadside and switched with Lu Siye.
He gripped the steering wheel, pressed the accelerator, and the RV's speed increased from sixty to eighty, from eighty to one hundred, and from one hundred to one hundred and ten.
"How's it going outside lately?" he asked, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
Liara leaned back in her seat, pulled her legs up, and curled up inside.
Her white dress spread out on the seat.
"The war has ended."
Lu Siye tilted his head slightly.
"It's stopped?"
"Yes," Liara nodded, tracing circles on the car window with her finger, "not because we won, nor because they showed mercy."
"It's because this attack made them see the threat from the Eastern Continent."
Lu Siye remained silent for a moment.
The threat from the Eastern Continent.
Of course he knew what it was.
"Those countries have already begun withdrawing their troops," Liara continued, "to redeploy their forces and rebuild their strength."
"They need time to process the information from this attack, time to reassess the threat level in the East, and time to adjust their strategies."
"The war is not over, it's just paused."
Lu Siye nodded without saying anything.
"Don't think about it," Liara said. "Thinking too much won't help."
Lu Siye glanced at her.
Her eyes were closed, and there was a slight smile on her lips.
"I didn't mean to," he said.
"You're lying," she said, her eyes still closed, but the smile on her lips deepened.
Lu Siye did not refute.
Because he really was thinking about it.
But he wasn't thinking about the battlefield; he was thinking about something else entirely.
He was thinking about what Liara had said to him in the RV a day earlier.
"Would you like to give it a try?"
She was sitting at the dining table when she said this, with a glass of red wine in front of her and a document in her hand, which contained the specific arrangements and precautions for this mission.
Lu Siye sat opposite her, holding a glass of water, looking at the copy of the document.
His gaze lingered on a page containing detailed information about the Winged Fire Serpent.
"Try what?" he asked, looking up.
Liara put down her glass and looked at him.
"Do it with me," she said.
She had drunk about half a bottle of red wine, and there were wine stains on her lips.
Lu Siye looked at her and remained silent for about five seconds.
Then the image of those three muscular men flashed into his mind.
Unlike others, Liara has always been dominant when it comes to that kind of thing.
They serve her, not the other way around.
With the added power of Leah's sin of lust, she will deliberately prevent them from reaching their climax.
This is equivalent to depriving them of physiological pleasure, and as time goes on, the psychological pleasure will also disappear.
Later on, it became pure torture. She enjoyed tormenting people and relentlessly demanded what she wanted.
Lu Siye wasn't confident he could conquer her; on the contrary, he might even have his vital energy drained.
"Forget it," he said.
Leah tilted her head and looked at him.
"Are you scared?" she asked.
"Um."
There was no hesitation, no pretense, and no bravado of "I'm not afraid."
He said the word quite frankly.
Liara looked at him for about two seconds.
Then she smiled, a very soft smile, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, before returning to her calm state.
"Okay," she said.
Then she picked up her wine glass, took a sip of red wine, and continued reading the documents.
It's as if nothing ever happened.
Between him and her, they never took that step.
More than friends, but not quite lovers.
Holding hands, hugging, not speaking, not kissing, not doing anything unnecessary.
That night, the RV was parked by a lake.
She put down her glass, turned around, and extended her hand.
"Dance with me," she said.
He had never learned to dance.
But his hand was on her waist, and their bodies were very close.
They began to move in the moonlight.
There was no music, no rhythm, no rules.
Just walk, just turn, just stop.
His steps were a little clumsy, and he stepped on her foot twice. She smiled and didn't say "It's okay," but instead said, "You stepped on me."
He said, "I'm sorry," and she said, "No need to apologize, it doesn't hurt anyway."
Then she tiptoed and kissed him on the cheek, then stepped back and continued dancing.
I jumped for a long time.
"Thank you," she said.
Lu Siye placed his hand on her back, through her white dress.
He probably knows.
She was thanking him for not disliking her, not trying to change her, and not trying to conquer her.
She was simply thanking him for giving her something she had never received before.
respect.
Lu Siye hugged her tightly.
His chin rested on the top of her head, and her hair brushed against his chin, tickling him.
Chaos stirred deep within his consciousness.
Quietly.
Lu Siye closed his eyes.
This moment is good.
That's enough for now.
No more is needed at this moment.
Liara lifted her head from his embrace and looked at him.
Her lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she said nothing.
She just looked at him for about three seconds, and then smiled.
It's not because I'm happy, nor is it because I'm sad.
Simply because, at this moment, he was there.
She tiptoed and gave him a quick, light kiss on the forehead.
"Goodnight," she said.
"Good night," he said.
She turned and walked towards the RV.
She opened the door, glanced back at him, and then went inside.
The door closed, the car lights were on for about ten seconds, and then went out.
Then he turned around, walked to the RV, opened the door, went inside, and closed the door.
The car was dark, with only moonlight filtering in through the window.
He walked through the living room, through the kitchen, and past the closed door to the master bedroom.
He paused in front of the master bedroom door, not intentionally, but involuntarily.
On the other side of the door, Liara was probably asleep, or perhaps not asleep yet, staring at the ceiling with her eyes open, or doing something he didn't want to know.
He didn't knock.
He continued walking, reached the small bedroom at the back of the car, opened the door, went inside, and closed the door.
He lay down on the single bed, using the pillow as a headrest, and looked at the roof of the car.
He closed his eyes.
Consciousness sank into the space of sin imprint.
"I danced today," he said.
The tail of chaos remained still.
"With her."
The tail of chaos remained motionless.
"By the lake, under the moonlight, there was no music."
The tail of chaos finally twitched.
"Hmm," Chaos said.
Just one word.
Then it stopped talking.
The RV was parked by the lake for a whole night.
As dawn broke, Liara emerged from the master bedroom, dressed in pajamas, her hair disheveled, and her eyes not yet fully open.
She went to the kitchen, made coffee, poured two cups, placed one on the dining table, and took the other to the door of the small bedroom at the back of the car.
She didn't knock; she simply placed the coffee cup on the floor by the door and turned to leave.
About five minutes later, the door opened.
Lu Siye squatted down, picked up the coffee cup, and took a sip.
The coffee was very hot and bitter, with no sugar or milk added.
His tongue was burned, but he didn't spit it out; instead, he swallowed it.
He stood up, took his coffee cup, and walked into the living room.
Liara sat at the dining table, a cup of coffee in front of her.
She had changed her clothes; instead of pajamas, she was wearing a light blue T-shirt and white shorts. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and she had light makeup on, making her look much more energetic.
She looked up at him, a slight smile playing on her lips, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
"Good morning," she said.
"Good morning," he said.
"Let's do it once!"
"don't want"
He didn't want to become a dried-up corpse.
He sat down opposite her, placed his coffee cup on the table, held the cup in both hands, and felt the warmth emanating from the cup.
She looked at him, and he looked at her.
"Where are we going today?" he asked.
Leah reached out, took the map from the corner of the dining table, unfolded it, and traced a line on it with her finger.
Her finger stopped at the southernmost point of the map, where a red circle was drawn, and next to the circle were four words written in pencil.
Three Thousand Caves.
"It's about a three-day journey," she said, folding up the map and putting it back, "if there's no traffic."
Lu Siye nodded and took a sip of coffee.
The royal family wasn't in a hurry, but of course, their hurry wouldn't help, because whether or not the winged fire serpent could be tamed depended entirely on Lu Siye's mood.
The coffee was still bitter, very bitter, so bitter that his brow furrowed slightly.
But after the bitterness, a sweet aftertaste lingers on the tongue.
He looked out the window.
Outside the window are fields in southern Siam, vast expanses of green stretching from both sides of the road all the way to the horizon.
"Let's go," he said.
Liara stood up, picked up the car keys, walked to the driver's seat, sat down, and fastened her seatbelt.
She turned her head, looked at him, and smiled.
"Fasten your seatbelt," she said.
