Chapter 50 Glory Hut, Cheap Potions
Chapter 50 Glory Hut, Cheap Potions
Hughes: "...I want to buy it, but I don't have the money."
He wanted to buy it too, but he needed the magic stone first!
On their voyage to hunt sea monsters, they not only failed to acquire a single magic stone, but also gave Leo five magic stones in exchange for his study of mental radiation.
I originally came to Hughes to sell the potion and exchange it for magic stones.
But who knew that the saleswoman wouldn't accept that?
Hughes looked at Leo, who had casually spent two or three hundred magic stones, and felt a little envious.
Of course, there was only envy, not jealousy.
Having gone through the hunting mission with Leo, he knew just how much risk Leo had taken to obtain those magic stones.
If it were Hughes himself, let alone earning magic stones, he wouldn't even be able to come back alive.
Hughes, with a bottle of low-quality, basic recovery potion tucked into his pocket, asked, "Leo, are you going to Glory Hut next?"
"Yes."
"I'll go with you."
Hughes also wanted to try his luck. Since Glory Shop would accept Leo's potion, it was possible that they would accept his as well.
Leo nodded, then looked at the map.
Except for the central area, which is blank, the map shows the rest of the Tower of Dawn.
Leo and his companion quickly found the landmark of Glory Hut.
Glory Hut is located on the edge of this area, where the environment is relatively desolate.
"Hello, Wizard. What item would you like to purchase?"
As Leo and his companion entered the Glory House, a tall woman at the front desk greeted Leo with a smile.
Compared to the elf, this woman's appearance was far inferior. She possessed a faint spiritual energy, but also the distinctive aura of a knight's breathing technique, and quite a strong one at that.
Leo was not surprised. The knights also possessed spiritual energy, but their spiritual energy was far from being able to condense into a spiritual seed.
The woman had her hair styled in small whips, was muscular, and had a huge fang on each side of her mouth. She was even taller than Leo.
Leo guessed that she was probably not human, but some kind of demi-human.
Hughes, standing nearby, looked up at the fanged saleswoman and swallowed hard.
Hughes stood in front of the other person like a child standing in front of an adult.
Even though the saleswoman didn't do anything, Hughes felt a strange sense of fear.
Leo said, "Hello, I have a bottle of low-quality withered wood potion here. I wonder if I could sell it to your shop?"
"Withered Wood Potion?" Upon hearing Leo's words, the fanged woman's eyes lit up. She said, "My lord wizard, for two magic stones, our shop can accept this bottle of Withered Wood Potion for you."
Upon hearing this, Leo pondered for a moment and said, "Isn't this price a bit too low?"
This costs less than half the material cost of the deadwood potion.
The fanged woman said, "Wizard, you must have only recently started brewing the Deadwood Potion, right? Recently, due to issues with the yield of Deadwood roots, the price has risen somewhat, thus increasing the cost of brewing the potion. However, we potion shops don't consider this; unless the material costs permanently increase, we will only purchase at the normal price."
After thinking it over, Leo agreed to the deal.
After accepting the withered wood potion, the fanged woman at the counter grinned and said, "Master Wizard, if you ever have any withered wood potions of inferior or higher quality in the future, please be sure to sell them to our Glory Cottage."
"Okay, ma'am."
Seeing how easily Leo sold a bottle of inferior potion, Hughes perked up and said, "Miss at the counter, I'd like to sell potions too."
"What kind of medicine is it?"
"Basic Recovery Potion"
Upon hearing that it was a basic recovery potion, the fang-wielding saleswoman frowned slightly and asked, "What quality potion is it?"
"Inferior quality".
After listening, the saleswoman at the fang counter shook her head and said, "I'm sorry, our shop doesn't accept low-quality, basic recovery potions."
Hughes was startled and said, "Eh, why? Don't you usually accept inferior quality potions?"
"While we will accept inferior quality potions, they will only be used if they are helpful for a knight's training. Basic recovery potions may be useful, but our knight customers will not buy inferior quality ones."
"Alright then." Hughes looked utterly disappointed.
As the two walked out of Glory Shop, Hughes said, "I didn't expect that, just as my mentor said, these shops generally only accept potions of ordinary quality or higher. In that case, I can only use this bottle of basic recovery potion that I made myself."
Upon hearing this, Leo reminded him, "Hughes, drinking potions indiscriminately can have many negative effects on you, and may even damage your mental talent."
Hearing this, Hughes shuddered and said, "That's true. Oh well, if we can't sell it, we can't sell it. We'll just throw it away somewhere. It seems that being a potion wizard isn't as easy as I thought. Sigh, I wonder how long it will take to brew a potion that can be sold. I'm increasingly feeling that this discipline is just a pie in the sky, luring a lot of people into potion science, but in reality, I doubt many of them actually make it big."
Hughes kept complaining.
Leo looked at Hughes thoughtfully.
Although Sally the Wizard had previously mentioned that potion-making could earn magic stones by selling potions, reaching a level where one could sell potions required considerable time and resources.
Potions of inferior quality are only worth half the purchase price, and some shops won't even accept them. This means that even if you successfully refine a bottle of inferior quality potion, you've wasted all the materials and time spent refining it.
Even with average quality, it's barely enough to break even.
As for high-quality products, those are rare.
Thinking about it this way, the study of potions really is like drawing a pie in the sky; you can't master it without some talent.
Hughes suddenly said, "Leo, do you think I should sell that bottle of calming potion that Wizard Ace gave me?"
Leo did not answer; he would not offer advice on matters concerning his future.
Otherwise, regardless of whether Hughes sells it or not, Leo will still have to share the blame.
Seeing that Leo did not answer, Hughes smiled awkwardly and said, "Haha, I really shouldn't have asked you that question, sorry."
"I'm going back to the gathering first... Oh, wait, there's something I almost forgot to tell you."
Hughes' expression turned serious, and he said, "Leo, I heard from our mentor that this year's exchange meeting seems to have new rules. Those who have already condensed their spiritual seeds and become wizards will not be able to participate in the exchange meeting."
Upon hearing this, Leo couldn't help but frown.
If this rule is true, it means that Leo will be unable to fulfill Esmond's request.
Leo said, "If things really turn out that way, it seems we'll have to rely on you, Hughes."
Upon hearing this, Hughes smiled wryly and said, "Leo, you overestimate me. There might be students with level 5 mental strength talent there, so the chances of me fulfilling Wizard Ace's request are really slim."
"We'll just have to wait and see," Leo said.
