Chapter 60 Eve's Reward
Chapter 60 Eve's Reward
Li Ang opened the door, and standing outside was Ginny, who wore a more respectful smile than usual and bowed slightly, saying:
"Mr. Li Ang, your mentor Eve requests that you come to her living room now."
Li Ang understood perfectly well that winning the competition and being summoned by his mentor was to be expected.
"I understand, thank you, Miss Ginny. I'll be right there."
He turned back to his desk, took out a stack of thick parchment manuscripts neatly bound with thread from the drawer, and then followed Ginny to Professor Eve's residence.
I navigated the teleportation platform with practiced ease and stepped once again into the elegantly furnished and comfortable living room.
As usual, Instructor Eve was wearing her black robe. She was sitting on the sofa, slurping down a glass of black liquid.
Li Ang noticed that the lines on her seemingly cold face appeared much softer than usual.
"Mentor," Li Ang bowed respectfully.
"Have a seat." Eve gestured to the single sofa next to her, her tone less aloof than usual.
"Congratulations on winning the Silver Crucible Competition."
"Thank you for your guidance and mentorship." Li Ang sat down as instructed, his attitude humble.
Eve nodded slightly, put down her cup, then picked up a palm-sized black wooden box from beside her and handed it to Li Ang.
"As your mentor, please accept this congratulatory gift for your victory."
Li Ang accepted the gift with both hands and thanked him sincerely, saying, "Thank you for your trouble, mentor."
He carefully opened the box, revealing a simple ring lined with soft, dark blue velvet.
The ring is dark silver in color and feels slightly cool to the touch; its specific material is not discernible.
The ring surface is devoid of any decorative patterns, except for what appears to be a few extremely fine runes engraved on the inner ring.
"This is the Ring of the Wise," Eve's voice rang out calmly. "It can store a portion of your spiritual power, which you can access directly when needed. Although its capacity is limited, it might save your life in a critical moment."
Li Ang's heart stirred. This must be a prop that his mentor Eve had specially prepared after his last dangerous encounter, and then gave to him as a gift after his victory.
A warm feeling welled up in his heart; since his transmigration, Eve had been the kindest person to him.
"Thank you, mentor. I will definitely make good use of this gift. Oh, and it's not really a return gift."
Li Ang carefully put away the box, picked up the thick stack of manuscripts that had been placed aside when he entered, and handed them to Eve.
"This is a sequel to the story I wrote in my spare time recently. I hope... you, my mentor, can take a look and give me some feedback."
Eve's gaze fell on the manuscript, and then her eyes lit up, but she maintained the calm and composure befitting a mentor.
She reached out and took the manuscript, then casually placed it on the sofa armrest, saying in a normal tone, "Yes, I'll read it when I have time."
After asking Li Ang a few more questions about whether he had any other needs, Eve signaled that he could leave.
After Li Ang left respectfully and closed the door behind him, Eve eagerly picked up the manuscript and began to read it.
After reading a few pages, she casually picked up a cup to moisten her throat. The moment the black liquid in the cup entered her mouth, she showed a look of pain and immediately called Ginny to replace it with a cup of orange-red liquid.
After leaving Eve's residence, Li Ang did not return to his dormitory. Instead, following Ginny's instructions, he swiped his card to go to the School Contribution Points Exchange Center on the 22nd floor.
Behind the door was not the warehouse full of goods that Li Ang had imagined, but a spacious and quiet hall, which was divided into more than a dozen independent small rooms.
Li Ang walked into an empty cubicle containing only a chair and a crystal panel embedded in the wall. He inserted the black card into a groove on the side of the crystal panel.
The crystal panel lit up instantly, displaying thousands of redeemable items categorized into different types.
High-grade potion ingredients, finished potions, wands of all levels, protective accessories, magic scrolls, rare ores, monster materials, and even some magical items with unique functions... it has everything, and each item is marked with the number of contribution points required.
Li Ang was dazzled by the sights. At this moment, he deeply understood the use of contribution points. He patiently browsed through them, focusing on items that could assist in cultivation and improve his strength.
Suddenly, an object caught his eye.
Breeze Barrier creates a continuous, small area of active wind element, which can be used to hinder ranged attacks, channel, and practice wind-attribute spells. It requires 500 contribution points to exchange.
"This is pretty good." Li Ang was delighted. With this, not only could he practice spells, but by upgrading it, he should be able to absorb purer wind magic power during meditation, just like the canvas he used to have, thereby improving his meditation efficiency. When he combined it with calming potions, his meditation efficiency would take off. As for its defensive function, Li Ang didn't pay much attention to it.
Without hesitation, he chose to redeem the item. After confirming the deduction of 500 contribution points, a hidden compartment under the crystal panel silently slid open, revealing an object placed steadily inside.
It was a palm-sized, rhomboid crystal ornament with a small metal base. Inside the crystal, countless tiny vortexes seemed to be flowing slowly, radiating pure wind elemental fluctuations.
Li Ang carefully picked it up, then finished the exchange and retrieved the card.
After leaving the exchange point, Li Ang returned to his dormitory with the newly acquired [Gentle Breeze Barrier].
As I approached the dormitory entrance, I saw a familiar petite figure waiting there.
Sandra Meya was idly kicking the corridor wall with the tip of her boot.
"Li Angqing!" Upon hearing footsteps, she immediately looked up and saw that it was Li Ang. A smile instantly bloomed on her face, and she quickly went to greet him.
"You're finally back! We must celebrate your victory tonight. This princess will treat you to a meal at the second canteen."
"The second dining hall?" Li Ang was taken aback. That was the place where only formal wizards and a few privileged individuals were said to be able to dine.
Sandra Meya puffed out her chest, looking at him with an expression that said, "Just follow me."
Seeing that she couldn't refuse his hospitality, Li Ang smiled and nodded, "Then thank you very much, Your Highness."
Sandra Meyer seemed pleased and led the way up the stairs. The two took the elevator to the central area of the tower on the seventh floor.
The environment of the second dining hall was completely different from that of the dining hall downstairs, which was mainly for apprentices and novice wizards.
The room was softly lit, elegantly decorated, and covered with thick carpets. A faint fragrance filled the air. A dozen or so dining tables covered with white tablecloths were scattered in the center of the hall, where a few formal wizards dressed in green robes were quietly dining.
Upon seeing Sandra Mea, a waiter immediately and respectfully led the two to an empty private room.
Although the private room was small, it was exquisitely decorated. Sandra Meya was clearly a regular here. She didn't look at the menu, but instead skillfully ordered several dishes and a bottle of aperitif from the waiter.
