Chapter 276 Olivia Taken Away
"On the day you disappeared, Eve's attendant came to report immediately," Celeste said slowly. "However, the wizard on duty who received her saw that she was just an attendant and was speaking incoherently, so he assumed she was hallucinating from shock and didn't take it seriously. It wasn't until the next day, when your team members didn't see you during their routine patrol and came to report, that the team took it seriously. Given that Eve also disappeared at the same time, the enforcement team immediately initiated an investigation and invited Celia, a wizard from the Stargazing School, to form a joint investigation team."
He paused, seemingly recalling the scene: "The sorceress Celia used her prophetic abilities, but concluded that you and Eve were not in any known location in this world. Therefore, the enforcement team initially suspected you might have been murdered, and that the killer was highly skilled, erasing all traces."
Celeste looked at Leon, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes: "But I still don't believe it. Putting aside Eve, based on the strength you've shown, who could eliminate you silently and without leaving a trace inside the tower? That doesn't make sense."
"Later, the leader of Carlos's faction stepped in," Celeste continued. "He said that you and Eve should have gone to a safe place," so we no longer needed to search for you.
Of course, the disappearance of a team leader cannot be stopped by a single word from the leader of another faction, so the investigation is still ongoing.
His voice lowered, tinged with obvious grief: "Until two weeks ago, the head of the Gorman faction—passed away."
Li Ang's heart skipped a beat. Although he knew that the Gorman faction leader had always been in poor health, and the last [Necromancer] attack had only made things worse, he still felt a chill upon hearing this news.
The faction leader who was responsible for the Lelita's external military deterrence ultimately did not survive.
"The passing of the faction leader is an immeasurable loss for Lyrita, especially for our Elementalist school."
"Without the faction leader's deterrent, the balance of many things has been broken," Celeste said gravely.
He looked at Li Ang and said slowly, "The envoys from Mount Athos arrived a week ago. They took Professor Dinah away, and—your teammate, Olivia."
Li Ang's eyes sharpened instantly: "Take them away? Were they there voluntarily, or—?"
Celeste sighed and said tactfully, "At least, this departure wasn't originally part of Professor Diana's plans for the future."
Li Ang remained silent, naturally understanding Celeste's unspoken meaning.
The departure of the Gorman faction leader drastically reduced Lelita's influence when facing the Holy Mountain, a colossal entity ruled by dragons.
"What about Olivia?" Leon's voice was calm, but Celonster could hear the storm brewing beneath. "What was her reaction?"
Ceronster paused for a moment before saying, "She seemed very reluctant."
Reluctantly, I was taken away anyway.
Li Ang nodded, indicating that he understood.
He stood up: "Steward, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
"Li Ang," Celeste called out to him, his gaze complex.
"What are your plans for the future? If you need to add players, I can try to secure the highest priority for that."
Li Ang turned around to face Seronster, his eyes resolute: "I'm going to bring Olivia back."
Celeste seemed to have anticipated this, showing little surprise but deep seriousness: "Have you thought this through? This could very well cause a sudden escalation, or even a deterioration, in the relationship between the Alliance and Mount Athos. Moreover, the Mount Athos's resources far exceed your imagination."
Li Ang didn't speak, he just looked at him quietly.
Celeste met his gaze for a moment, then suddenly, this deacon, known for his impartiality and adherence to the rules, let out a soft breath. His voice was low but exceptionally clear: "Personally—I support your decision. As captain, it's my duty to consider the wishes and safety of my team members. But—"
He abruptly changed the subject, his tone carrying an almost cruel calm: "But you must understand, Lelita, at least openly, cannot publicly support your operation. With the departure of the Gorman faction leader, we cannot afford the cost of a direct confrontation with the Holy Mountain."
Li Ang sensed the suppressed pain and helplessness deep in Celest's words. As the current pillar of the enforcement team, he had to consider the survival of the entire Wizard Tower. Some rules and compromises, even if unwilling, had to be followed.
"I understand," Li Ang said slowly. "This is my personal decision, and it has nothing to do with Lelita. I won't put Lelita in a difficult position."
Celeste gave him a deep look, then finally nodded without saying anything more.
Li Ang turned and left the deacon's office.
Back in his dorm, he opened the door, but the expected welcome didn't come. The room was clean but cold and lifeless; Nelson and Rodney weren't there.
Li Ang frowned slightly, suddenly remembering a rule inside the tower regarding personal attendants.
If the wizard they serve is confirmed dead or missing for an extended period, their status as a personal follower will be revoked, and they will revert to being a regular follower, under the unified management and allocation of the Follower Management Office.
A sense of foreboding rose in Li Ang's heart. He immediately turned around and strode towards the attendant management office on the bottom floor of the tower.
Before they even reached the slightly worn wooden door of the management office, a noisy commotion erupted, including Rodney's tearful screams, Nelson's angry but somewhat powerless growls, and Ginny's attempts to remain calm but unable to hide her anxiety as she argued back.
"Lord Leon and Lady Eve are not dead! They will be back!" It was Ginny's voice, filled with unwavering conviction.
"Hey, come on, face reality, Ginny!" a mocking male voice rang out.
"Missing for a month without a trace, not even Lady Celia can be found, what else could it be but dead? Perhaps the sea monster has already digested her body!"
"Exactly! Does he think he's some kind of personal follower? What's with the attitude! We're all the same now, just ordinary followers!" Another voice chimed in, causing a burst of laughter.
"You are not allowed to speak of Lord Leon like that!" Nelson's voice was filled with anger and trembling.
"Oh? You're quite loyal, kid? Too bad your master's not coming back! Now nobody's protecting you!"
The male voice that had spoken earlier said menacingly, "We're going to teach you guys a lesson on the rules here today!"
Immediately following were the muffled thuds of fists hitting flesh, suppressed groans of pain, and Rodney's even sharper, more terrified cries: "Brother, don't hit my brother! Let him go!"
