Chapter 42 Weather Magic Device
Chapter 42 Weather Magic Device
The kitten opened its mouth and spoke in a childish voice, like a ten-year-old girl.
ha?
Lin Qi's mouth opened slightly. He had heard of talking cats before, but why was this cat calling him a scumbag?
The kitten's voice was filled with deep resentment: "You thief, why did you steal my divine power? All the power I painstakingly accumulated has been absorbed by you, and now I can barely even maintain my original form!"
Lin Qi was completely stunned.
No way, is this the incomparably powerful tiger deity?
"I didn't intentionally steal your power; those things just flowed into my body on their own."
Lin Qi spoke subconsciously, his hand involuntarily stroking the little black cat's head.
"You're the one who stole it!"
The little black cat meowed, shaking its head in annoyance, its tone even more aggrieved, "I was only born recently, and this awful place of yours sucked me in. I couldn't control my own power at all, and I've all run away, meow!"
"Don't you have a home of your own? Why are you stealing my things? Waaaaah!"
Family?
What family?
Lynch was completely bewildered.
However, judging from the kitten's appearance, it does seem rather weak.
Just as Lin Qi was about to say something more, the little black cat suddenly leaped off his chest and ran towards the window, turning back to hiss at Lin Qi as it ran: "You scumbag, I'll definitely get my power back!"
Lin Qi immediately got up and chased after it out the window, but the little black cat was very fast and disappeared into the night in the blink of an eye.
"Why call him a scumbag?"
"Strange guy."
Lin Qi looked out the window and breathed a sigh of relief.
...
At this moment, the battle to defend the entrance to Silverleaf Town had reached a fever pitch.
The two great temples, along with the adventurers of Silverleaf Town, had all retreated to the town center, using the guild and the Temple of Fairness as a barrier to establish a magic circle. However, under the onslaught of countless monsters, the magic circle was clearly on the verge of collapse.
As the number of monsters increased, the temple's forces grew increasingly exhausted, and casualties continued to rise.
Beren's face darkened as she shouted at Evan, "We can't hold out much longer at this rate!"
Evan frowned, his gaze sweeping across the purple mist. "You couldn't have come here with only twenty or thirty people, could you?"
Beren gritted his teeth, seemingly hesitating about something.
"What the hell are you thinking about? If you hesitate any longer, everyone will become a slave to the gods just like them!"
"good!"
Beren's usual calm expression vanished.
"We brought a weather magic device."
"What the hell?"
Evan's eyes widened, and he blurted out, "No, where did your Temple of Order get those ancient magical artifacts?"
"Never mind that."
"Beren said coldly."
"Activating the Weather Magic Device requires specific conditions and a long time. I'll go prepare it; I'll leave this to you."
He strode into the Temple of Justice, leaving Evan behind. The latter's expression was uncertain as he muttered to himself, "Very well, weather artifact."
Beren walked to the second floor of the temple.
Two low-ranking priests were already waiting there.
He nodded to the two men, who immediately produced an ancient, azure artifact, which was the so-called Weather Magic Artifact.
"Sir, are we really going to start it?"
One of them asked.
Beren nodded and instructed, "This deity is clearly unable to control its divine power, causing a leak. There are differences between deities, and such a chaotic and inferior deity is better off without."
"Our goal," Beren's eyes flashed with light, "is the symbiotic plane of this god."
"Prepare the space law detectors, scan constantly, and report any unusual activity immediately."
"Yes, Lord Beren, but this magical artifact needs to wait until the first rays of sunlight to activate, and I'm afraid that outside..."
The priest's implication was clear: he was worried the situation wouldn't last until dawn.
"No problem, we can shrink the magic circle to the inside of this temple at that time."
The priest's body trembled.
"And the people outside..."
"Let them fend for themselves."
"Beren said coldly."
...
Lin Qi rested for a very long time, so long that he didn't even know the exact duration.
All that could be heard were the roars of monsters and the screams of humans outside.
Until the sky began to lighten slightly.
Lynch only felt the ground shaking and countless screams, as well as the ecstasy and cheers of the humans.
He slowly got up, rubbed his eyes, and pushed open the small window on the second floor.
The refreshing breeze swept over us and crushed all the old and dilapidated things in the house.
"By the gods!"
He could hear the exclamations of praise from the surviving humans nearby.
All eyes in Silverleaf Town were drawn to the blue beam of light that shot straight into the sky.
The beam of light tore through the purple mist, enveloping the entire Silverleaf Town. The purple mist quickly dissipated in the light, as if being swallowed and digested, and continued to recede towards the forest. At the same time, the first rays of dawn appeared on the horizon, draping Silverleaf Town, which had been embroiled in a bloody battle all night, in crimson.
The Fallen Ones, having lost the support of the purple mist, moved more slowly and their strength plummeted. Many of the beasts seemed to have temporarily broken free of control and began to flee in all directions.
Evan supported himself with his staff, opened his eyes, his face pale, clearly exhausted.
"This is fucking exhausting."
Taking a deep breath, he ordered his men, "Kill all the fallen ones, and be quick!"
"Except for those from the temple, lock everyone else in the Adventurers' Guild. They are not to come out without my order."
"Why should we? We've been killing all night too."
Some adventurers voiced their protests.
Evan glanced at the man, and with a flash of his scepter, the man collapsed to the ground in agony.
"This person has been infected and has been killed."
The warriors of the Temple of Justice stepped forward, their blades falling swiftly and decisively.
The others remained silent, terrified.
Evan strode into the Temple of Fairness and found the Order Priest Beren standing next to the Weather Magic Device on the second floor.
"Your Excellency Evan, you have a clever approach."
Beren's complexion was rosy, clearly indicating that he had rested overnight and his strength had basically recovered.
In contrast, Evan probably needs medicine to cast even complete divine spells.
Evan cursed inwardly.
"What are you going to do next?"
He said in a deep voice.
"You should rest well, sir. I'll handle the rest."
Beren smiled slightly, patted Evan's shoulder gently, and walked downstairs without looking back.
Evan was left standing there, his expression unpredictable.
The fallen in Silverleaf Town were quickly wiped out.
Even those who resisted were easily defeated by the powerful temple warriors, like clay chickens and earthenware dogs.
The sunlight crossed the horizon and shone on Silverleaf Town, dispelling the chill, but it could not erase the bloodstains and remains on the ground.
The once bustling border town now exudes a sense of desolation.
Lin Qi walked to the small pharmacy and quietly pushed open a crack in the door.
Outside, the forces of the Temple of Order searched everywhere, whispering amongst themselves, all looking for that mysterious primordial deity.
"What do you think that thing looks like?"
"I don't know. It's said that gods can take human form, so maybe they're hiding right among us."
"If we find it, we'll have accomplished something incredible. The power of God is terrifying to even think about."
Lin Qi's heart tightened, and he quietly closed the door.
Although they didn't know what methods they used to repel the fog, the best option at this moment was to hide, wait out the storm, and then reunite with Cole and the others.
Yata, meanwhile, was hiding in an abandoned building not far away, his eyes fixed on the direction of the pharmacy.
She was like an extremely patient hunter.
"It turns out this child isn't that deity. So, who is he?"
The half-elf archer frowned.
Just then, her ears twitched, as if she had discovered something. She immediately concealed her presence and hid herself completely.
Then, outside the small alley, the figure of Beren, the priest of the Temple of Order, appeared.
He slowly beckoned, and the temple warriors and priests silently surrounded the area.
"not good!"
Yata felt a chill run down her spine.
She initially thought she had been exposed, but then realized that Beren had no reason to target her.
They must have used some kind of magical artifact to discover the anomaly.
After a moment's thought.
Yata drew an arrow, whispered an incantation, and then silently tossed it into the pharmacy.
Meanwhile, Lin Qi, still intending to hide, closed his eyes to rest.
A flash of cold light.
"Um?"
Lynch opened his eyes and found a familiar arrow stuck in the floor in front of him. Then Yata's voice, deliberately lowered, said, "People from the Temple of Order are here. Let's go!"
