The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1348 Shook Hands with the Beast

Chapter 1348 Shook Hands with the Beast

Rex arrived at the scene with a guess in mind.

Other than the early days of him having the System, he was successful in doing his role as the Alpha of the pack, regulating the others well so that none of them lost themselves and went berserk because of anything, be it the full moon or trauma.

But as long as there is a beginning, there will always be an end.

His streak as a successful Alpha ended tonight.

Arriving at the scene, where the scent of blood was the thickest—Rex was greeted by a gory scene of corpses and blood. Mangled bodies, flesh, and blood littered the entire place. Some corpses lay on the ground and some of them were in military vehicles.

Each of the intact corpses had a fearful expression marred their faces.

It was palpable how terrified they were before their deaths.

Not to mention, the blood literally dyed the ground and the tree trunks deep crimson.

Even veterans of war would feel their stomachs growl seeing this place.

Rex scanned the place with the System to see whether there were traces of energy around.

Once again, it was fruitless.

Other than moonlight energy, the System detected nothing else.

"Not a trace, huh... Whoever caused this is quite meticulous," Rex contemplated aloud.

Soon, he turned to a knocked-down truck meters away to his right.

He heard a weird and unsettling sound coming from behind it and decided to check.

Rex went around the truck—and saw Kyran there, crouching, and hunching while munching a piece of human leg in delight. He was savoring it as if it was the best meal he had ever had in years.

Sensing his presence, Kyran lifted his head and glanced over his shoulder slowly.

His mouth was dripping with fresh blood with flesh stuck between his fangs.

Casting a grin, he offered the leg to Rex.

"It's good that we stopped fasting, the taste of flesh is, how could I put it... appetizing!"

Upon hearing this, Rex frowned.

Despite Kyran being in his berserk state right now, deep down he knew that saying that kind of thing to Rex upfront was not a good idea. Rex's stand on the matter—was still gray, and it would be better for anyone not to touch that topic.

Now that Kyran dared to say something like that, it was certain that he had lost it.

Okay, he's for sure influenced heavily by the Demon Moon.

As he thought of that, Iris arrived at the location and also saw Kyran's bloody state.

"I thought the Silverstar Pack don't eat flesh like normal Werewolves,"

"We don't. His sanity decreased upon seeing Naela being hurt, the Demon Moon got to him"

"I see... but it seems like he recognized you"

"Of course, beneath being the Emperor, I'm also an Alpha"

"I don't think he's going to stop anytime soon..."

Rex waved his hand dismissively, he knew that Iris wanted him to stop Kyran.

Since they were in the Dark Elf's territory, it was understandable for Iris to worry like this.

If the situation escalated, the Dark Elves would be the ones paying the price.

"Are there any villages nearby?"

"Yes, there are approximately thirty-four villages in this ten-mile radius"

Upon hearing this, Rex nodded, he needs to stop Kyran here for the Dark Elves' sake.

Focusing back to Kyran who was still chewing the leftovers in his mouth, Rex approached.

He flared his Alpha presence to suppress Kyran, to make sure that Kyran recognized him—as the Alpha, "Okay, that's enough, Kyran. Instead of attacking these randoms—it would be way better to find the culprit, no?"

Just as Rex's hand was about to hold Kyran's shoulder, something happened.

In an instant, Kyran opened his maw and bit down on Rex's arm.

Even then, the fact that Kyran was able to withstand his punches was insane.

Kyran swallowed the head of a person and broke the skull with his canine teeth, grinning.

Seeing this, Rex made a heavy swing out of anger.

Baiting Rex to do exactly that, Kyran slipped under the strike, dodging it perfectly, and did a nasty swipe enhanced with energy—cutting open Rex's side. Struck, Rex grunted—before a kick landed on his stomach, pushing him back.

He punched forward with both hands to stop the momentum and stood his ground.

System, what is happening? I thought devouring flesh was akin to cultivating for Werewolves.

If I'm correct, how did Kyran's strength rise this high? Nobody cultivated that fast.

Yes, purchase it and tell me the answer!

"Outstanding..." Rex muttered sarcastically, focusing back on Kyran.

He was about to learn more about this but Kyran quickened that process with real practice.

Kyran gazed at Rex tauntingly, savoring yet another piece of meat.

"Why are you trying to stop me from doing this?" He asked.

Upon hearing this, Rex replied firmly, "I still don't know how will doing this affect us,"

"Affect us?" Kyran cackled. "Isn't it obvious? It would make us stronger"

As he said that, he spread his arms to the side, his aura climbing way higher, than it had ever been, "Look at me now, isn't it obvious enough?" He said once again—flaunting his newfound strength from devouring hundreds of Humans.

Rex sweated a little, he could see the crazy light behind Kyran's eyes.

He was clearly infatuated with his temporary strength.

Straightening his back, Kyran's expression gloomed as he opened his mouth again.

"Earlier, I learned the true pain that you must've experienced when you lost your parents" He suddenly said—surprising Rex with the sudden shift of air. "I thought I knew the pain already, but I was wrong. Forgive me, I underestimated the pain you feared. I know intimately now the reason why you wanted to become stronger so badly" Find adventures on empire

Hearing this, Rex lowered his arms and tilted his head in confusion.

He expected Kyran to be berserk but this is something else.

So there's a mix of his true feelings in this?

Just as the notification appeared, Kyran looked at Rex with a hollow, but crazed gaze.

"You already broke your fasting, and I now followed your lead, I am doing this simply because of you," He declared, but then he raised an eyebrow, questioningly. "You claimed to everyone that you wanted to become stronger faster—but you abandoned this path when it's the most efficient, why? Don't you fear the pain of losing your loved ones again?"

Shoved by that question, Rex couldn't muster an answer.

His mind wasn't ready for that kind of question.

But deep inside, Kyran spoke the truth.

Not giving him time to answer or even think, Kyran continued, "I embraced and shook hands, with the beast inside me but you still haven't shaken hands with yours, why? Do you perhaps feel uneasy? Do you feel afraid that the people close to you would look at you differently?"

"Worried when you acknowledged the beast inside of you, you would lose the Humanity you are proud of, and become a real Werewolf?" He added, before his aura exploded. In the next instant, Kyran blitzed the distance between them and stabbed Rex in the stomach.

His claws penetrated through completely, forcing blood to come out of Rex's mouth.

Instead of retaliating, however, Rex stood there with a grim expression.

"Are you afraid of becoming a monster?" Kyran asked again, pressing further relentlessly.

However, as he said that, his expression froze, when Rex began to morph into his Werewolf form, swelling in size, and becoming taller than even Kyran. He grabbed Kyran's arm tightly and looked at him with coldness in his eyes.

"Afraid of becoming a monster?" Rex chanted back—in ridicule. "I was already way ahead of you in this matter Kyran. I have already passed this. What terror should I feel from becoming a monster when I already was one?"
