Chapter 578 - 578: Seven-Circle Magic (3)

The third month began with a startling realization during one of my martial training sessions. As I practiced advanced sword forms in the Academy's combat facility, I felt something fundamental shift in my energy patterns—something that made my heart race with both excitement and apprehension.

"Your Sword Resonance is approaching critical mass," Jin observed with obvious amazement as he watched me complete a series of forms that seemed to bend reality around them. "Arthur, you're standing at the edge of Sword Heart."

He was right. I could feel it—the Wall that separated Integration-rank from Ascendant-rank was visible in my mind's eye, close enough that I could almost reach out and touch it. My sword work had evolved to the point where one more breakthrough, one moment of martial enlightenment, would carry me across that legendary threshold.

But that was exactly the problem.

"I need to stop," I said, deliberately pulling back from the technique that would have pushed me over the edge. The effort required enormous willpower—every instinct screamed at me to take that final step, to claim the power and recognition that came with Ascendant-rank.

"Stop?" Jin asked with genuine confusion. "Arthur, you're about to achieve something that most martial artists spend decades pursuing. Why would you hold back?"

"Because I'm not ready," I replied, sheathing my sword with hands that trembled slightly from the effort of restraint. "If I scale the Wall now, through pure martial advancement, I'll lock myself into a primarily sword-based path to Ascendant-rank. My magical development would be constrained by that choice."

Understanding dawned in his eyes. "You want to achieve integrated advancement—magical and martial enlightenment simultaneously."

"Exactly. I've been developing both paths in parallel for a reason. If I can cross the Wall using both approaches at once, I might achieve capabilities that exceed what either discipline could provide alone."

It was one of the most difficult decisions I'd ever made. The promise of Sword Heart was tantalizingly close, representing power and capabilities that few people ever achieved. But I could sense that accepting it now would somehow limit my magical potential.

"That's either remarkably disciplined or remarkably foolish," Jin observed with a mixture of admiration and concern. "Enlightenment opportunities don't present themselves on convenient schedules."

His warning echoed my own fears, but I trusted my instincts about timing. Both my magical re

The foundation was complete. The moment was approaching. And when it arrived, I would be ready to step into entirely new territory of human potential.

The waiting was almost over.
