The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 119: Raiding the Lich’s Lair (5)

Chapter 119: Raiding the Lich’s Lair (5)

Vekka couldn’t believe his eyes. He had half a mind to slap himself hard, just to prove that he wasn’t dreaming. But his eyes wouldn’t lie. The immense heat and pressure didn’t lie. And the Flesh Golem that lay defeated on the ground didn’t lie.

When Amon separated the two Flesh Golems and sought to take one for himself, Vekka assumed that he was crazy. A Flesh Golem was a terrifying artificially constructed creature made of stitched-together humanoid body parts and animated through a combination of alchemical processes and dark magic. And the ones that guarded the Lich’s lair were overloaded with necrotic mana, possessing immense size, enhanced durability, and overwhelming speed.

Just by standing in its presence, Vekka could tell that the Flesh Golems weren’t anything to be trifled with. If he were to face the monster, his head would be severed from his neck within seconds. So, for Amon and Leon to take one each was utterly ludicrous.

At least, that was what the former law enforcement officer thought at that moment.

Leon was the first to step forward, igniting Ascalon with pure Aura Fire that blazed with a radiant, divine afterglow. The overwhelming power of the weapon momentarily paralysed the Flesh Golem, creating an opening for Leon to launch a decisive forward strike.

Ascalon was the Holy Sword, a powerful artefact that denied anything evil. And the undead before it was unquestionably an abomination that defied nature, making it super effective against the Flesh Golem. Leon severed the Flesh Golem’s hand with a single slash, incapacitating it for a few moments.

The Flesh Golem wasn’t about to let such audacity go unanswered. It unleashed a blood-curdling roar, and Leon felt the strength drain from his fingers. The tormented souls that had perished to create the abomination screamed within his mind, their anguish pulling him into a haze of mental confusion.

For Leon, attuned to nature and deeply sensitive to the essence of life, the cries of the trapped souls were unbearable, resonating more intensely than they would for most. He could feel their despair within the Flesh Golem, each wail clawing at his resolve.

Leon bit down hard on his lip, drawing blood. The sharp pain ignited a spark of anger as he grappled with the cruel reality before him. The undead and the living—utterly incompatible. For such an abomination to exist, countless lives had been sacrificed. How many families had been torn apart? How many loved ones separated forever? All to bring this monstrosity into being.

He wasn’t going to forgive the Lich who did this.

And... he was about to grant mercy to those trapped within this Flesh Golem.

"Heaven’s Fall!!!"

Without hesitation, Leon unleashed the most powerful techniques in his arsenal. Solar mana blazed with unrelenting fury as his three Suns materialized. Channeling the Eighty-One Suns Heart Mantra, he enhanced each of the three Suns with three smaller, orbiting satellites, bringing the total to nine. The three larger Suns, now bolstered by six miniature ones, amplified his control over solar mana, effectively tripling the energy at his disposal.@@@@

This was why Leon’s unique constitution was considered a cheat.

If Leon could survive the Calamities and fulfill his destiny as the Hero he was meant to become, he would one day wield the legendary power of Eighty-One Suns—a feat unparalleled in history. Not even the Solaris Founder, the visionary who established the Solaris House, nor the Solaris Saint, revered as the most powerful human of all time, could match the boundless potential that lay within Leon.

After two minutes, the guardians of the chamber finally fell. At the same time, the undead soldiers and wraiths were cleared out by the supporting cast, with Lydia leading the pack with her affinity with electric spells.

Even though the group was young, they were filled to the brim with generational talents. It was never a contest. The undead ’army’ was wiped out just as quickly as they appeared, giving the group a clear sight of the path down.

"Good job, Amon." Horus, sidelined until now, emerged from behind and applauded the youth. "Of course, Leon, Lydia, you did great too. How you eliminated the undead is truly awe-inspiring."

Horus made it a point to commend his Knights, offering particular praise to Amon for his swift battlefield assessment and exceptional leadership. Amon’s deep understanding of their foes, keen judgment of who was best suited to face each undead monster, and strategic decision to divide the group accordingly showcased a skill rarely seen outside of the most seasoned battlefield commanders.

Leon and Lydia also performed admirably. Leon’s ability to overpower a Flesh Golem stunned Horus, as even Solaris Knights with Four Suns condensed would struggle to defeat such a foe. Likewise, Lydia’s command of lightning and her skill in taking down multiple enemies simultaneously silenced the Knight of the Morning Star in awe.

They truly were a generation of luminaries.

"But the battle is just beginning. The Lich won’t stay still as we barge into its lair. Given by how powerful the undead miasma is here... something big will be coming."

"Understood."

Amon frowned, silently acknowledging Horus’s assessment. However, with his heightened senses, Amon knew he could further push his abilities. Since receiving a second blessing from Yval, his body’s sensitivity had reached a new dimension. In the past, he could hear the heartbeat of a rodent a mile away, but now, if he concentrated, he could detect the movement of an ant a hundred miles off.

It was only natural for Amon to peer deep into the cave’s shadows. What he discovered there, however, was nothing short of shocking.

As expected, the thick undead energy of the cave was thickest at the lowest layer, in the inner sanctum and the safest place of the cave. Amon could pinpoint the entity responsible for that nauseating mana within the sanctum.

The Foolish Lich was still there, foolishly waiting for his arrival instead of escaping.

But what stunned Amon wasn’t the existence of the Foolish Lich, but of the two humanoid creatures with him.

They radiated an overwhelming mana, a vast power not even Horus could rival. Amon’s brow twitched in response to their presence as the demonic pressure they exuded surpassed anything he had ever felt. The closest comparison would be the Greater Demons that Amon and Yue had hunted some time ago. Still, even those fearsome beings paled compared to the monstrosities lurking within the cave.

It didn’t take long for Amon to uncover the identity of the two individuals staying with the Foolish Lich.

’Apostles!’
