Lan Yudie thought it over and seemed to find some sense in it, so she had no choice but to reluctantly agree. She blinked, “I can approve the leave, but you have to take me with you. I want to go too, otherwise, you won’t even know what my parents like.”

After a round through the shopping center, Lan Yudie chose a few outfits for herself and also bought two Prada bags. Once the round was done, Xiao Han’s bank account had dwindled by seventy to eighty thousand.
“That’s so expensive!” Lan Yudie muttered as they left the mall before complaining, “I said we shouldn’t buy, a bag costing over ten thousand is not something I can afford. It’s just too expensive.”
“It’s alright,” Xiao Han smiled and then said, “Money is just paper if it’s not spent. Its value is realized only when it’s spent, you know?”
The middle-aged woman glanced at Xiao Han politely, then said, “Xiao Han, please come in and have a seat.”
The first encounter was not too bad; at least she didn’t make things difficult for him. Xiao Han quickly nodded: “Thank you, Auntie.”
After entering, Xiao Han hurried inside.
The house was large, with decor from the early twenty-first century. It was considered very nice for that time. The floor was spotless and shiny. Mother Lan said, “Silly girl, what’s this Xiao Han’s background?”
“Why do you ask that?” Lan Yudie asked, puzzled.
“Judging by what you’ve bought, you’ve spent quite a bit of money, haven’t you?” Mother Lan smiled and said, “A Louis Vuitton bag, Chanel clothing, an Apple phone, two packs of China soft-pack cigarettes...”
Mother Lan had a discerning eye; she could tell at a glance that all these items were genuine.
