Chapter 389: Chapter 389: Old Street
Liu Sisi walked out with an impatient expression on her face.
Xiao Han also stepped out slowly. The man was lying in bed, he had just been stitched up but had not been bandaged yet, and he looked utterly helpless. He had been lying on the bed, waiting miserably; his eyes had grown weary. When he finally saw Liu Sisi come out, it was as if he had seen a goddess. He excitedly said, “Sister Liu, you almost killed me with the wait. I... I’ve been waiting so long, almost forty minutes. You...”
“Keep yelling, and see if I don’t make you wait another forty minutes!” Liu Sisi gave him a cold glance.
The man immediately was dumbfounded. He hurriedly closed his mouth and didn’t dare to utter another word. He could only desperately beg for mercy, “Sister, I was wrong, please hurry up and finish this half-done job! Leaving me hanging midway, what’s that all about?”
Liu Sisi walked over and slapped his arm.
“Ouch...” The man almost jumped up, crying out, “It hurts to death, it hurts to death.”
...
“Hmph!” Liu Sisi snorted and then said, “Look at what you’ve become. It’s just a wound with five stitches, how can you be in so much pain?”
“You hit me, how could it not hurt?” the man hurriedly said, “Try hitting him!”
“He didn’t even flinch when I poured alcohol on his already scraped-off flesh,” Liu Sisi coldly snorted, “Look at you. What a fuss you’re making, whimpering like a dog.”
“You... you...” the man was immediately upset, “Sister Liu, why are you even insulting me?”
“You don’t act like a grown man at all!” Liu Sisi said irritably, “Why did you get into a fight with someone else?”
The man immediately went silent. Liu Sisi quickly said to Xiao Han, “Xiao Han, wait for me for a moment. I’ll tend to his wound and then I’ll find you, okay?”
“Okay, you go ahead,” Xiao Han replied.
Li Sisi gently smiled, then bent down to continue treating the man’s wound. The man, surprised, looked at Liu Sisi and then at Xiao Han, and quickly said, “Sister Liu, is that man your boyfriend?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Liu Sisi’s face flushed slightly as she glared at the man.
“If he’s not your boyfriend, why are you so anxious about him?” the man scoffed and then said, “So, I guess he must be your boyfriend... Ouch!”
Before he could finish speaking, the man suddenly screamed in pain.
Liu Sisi chuckled coldly and then said, “Let me tell you, when you were speaking just now, it affected your wound. So, I had to press down on it a bit. It’s not my fault, you were the one who talked too much!”
She almost spelled out each word in her last sentence.
The man immediately understood; it was his blabbering that had brought upon this ‘misfortune,’ but in his heart, he was even more convinced that Xiao Han was Liu Sisi’s boyfriend. Therefore, he took a few more glances at Xiao Han.
After treating his wound, Liu Sisi hurriedly told him, “Take these medicines yourself, and change them when you get back.”
Liu Sisi turned around, grabbed Xiao Han’s arm, and quickly ran out.
Coming out of the clinic, Liu Sisi was incredibly excited. Holding Xiao Han’s arm, she seemed to have an endless stream of topics to talk about. To onlookers, these two young people were clearly a couple. The girl was naturally beautiful and slender; the boy was tall, handsome, and distinguished. They truly seemed like a match made in heaven, a pair created by nature.
Xiao Han didn’t mind at all, and didn’t get tired of listening to her chatter.
Liu Sisi was very familiar with the area; she led Xiao Han into an alley. From the outside, it seemed like an ordinary alley, but once inside, Xiao Han felt as if he had entered a new world. The alley was bustling with people, and there were many stalls on the roadside. Each stall was manned by someone pushing a small cart, selling their goods, peddling their wares.
“Didn’t you say you wanted dessert?” Xiao Han curiously asked.
“How could one dessert calm my fury?” Liu Sisi humphed lightly, then said, “I decided I’ll have dessert last; let’s eat something here first.”
“What would you like to eat?” Xiao Han smiled and said, “I didn’t expect you were so easy to take care of, Sisi!”
“Really?” Liu Sisi heard this and her smile widened. “Then why don’t you marry me? I’m very low maintenance.”
“Haha...” Xiao Han laughed but didn’t respond.
A flash of disappointment crossed Liu Sisi’s face, but she quickly regained her composure and grabbing Xiao Han, ran forward, saying, “Hurry, up ahead is the best traditional yogurt in the provincial city.”
“Really?” Xiao Han was somewhat surprised. Traditional yogurt was considered a historic delicacy. Its general taste was similar to yogurt, but the preparation and methods were different, making it much tastier than the machine-produced variety. Moreover, this traditional craft had declined with the advancement of modern science and machinery, making it hard to find now. Xiao Han had often eaten this delicious yogurt as a child, but had suddenly found it nowhere when he grew up.
He hadn’t expected to find it in such a bustling metropolis as the provincial city, which surprised him all the more.
After all, this traditional yogurt was a childhood memory.
Liu Sisi pulled Xiao Han up to an old lady’s pushcart. The old lady looked quite aged, perhaps in her seventies or eighties, frail and hunched. She sat beside a chair with her eyes closed. On the side of her pushcart were several small bamboo tubes covered with muslin cloth.
“Grandma, I want yogurt!” Liu Sisi hurriedly said.
“Oh... Sisi!” The old lady’s body wobbled a bit, then she opened her eyes and stood up using her knees for support. She smiled and said, “You’re here for yogurt again today?”
“Mmm-hmm!” Liu Sisi eagerly nodded and said, “Your yogurt is the best.”
“That’s right, I’ve been making yogurt for over fifty years.” The old lady chuckled and said, “Here, two for you.”
The old lady’s hands, dry as twigs, lifted the muslin cloth and then pulled out two bamboo tubes to give to Liu Sisi. She glanced at Xiao Han and smiled, “Sisi, is this your boyfriend?”
“Ah...” Liu Sisi’s face turned slightly red, and she hurriedly said, “Grandma, don’t joke around. We’re just friends!”
