Lan Yudie sat at the head of her bed, leaning against it, staring blankly at the white ceiling above, void of any expression.
Especially after being rejected by Xiao Han, Lan Yudie felt a sense of despair, a despair towards a man that was akin to despair towards life itself.

After the incident, there was obviously some distance and tension between Lan Yudie and Xiao Han. Normally, during classes, Lan Yudie’s gaze would occasionally drift towards Xiao Han, but these past couple of days, she was deeply dispirited and didn’t glance at him once. Moreover, she wouldn’t even look his way when leaving class.
Xiao Han understood he had indeed hurt Lan Yudie’s heart last time.
But perhaps it was for the best, as anything more between Xiao Han and Lan Yudie would’ve been an illicit affair. Although it wasn’t explicit yet, Xiao Han knew if they continued down this path, it would inevitably turn into one. It might be a good thing to end things now while he had the chance.
Although it was painful, a short pain was better than a long-lasting one.
To be honest, Xiao Han felt a sting in his heart. At least for the current him, controlling his own feelings wasn’t an easy task. Once he had fallen for someone, that was it. He couldn’t erase that person from the deepest recesses of his heart. The pain signified that he truly had feelings for Lan Yudie. The heart doesn’t lie to itself.
After a day of classes, Zhang Feng clapped Xiao Han on the arm and laughed, “What’s up? Something on your mind?”
“No!” Xiao Han shook his head and replied, “Just thinking about some issues.”
“What issues?” Zhang Feng asked curiously.
“Just some personal stuff,” Xiao Han replied vaguely.
Zhang Feng didn’t press on. After all, everyone has some secrets buried deep in their hearts. That was a given.
Heading back to the dorm.

Suddenly, a vibrating noise came from the phone. In class, the phone had to be on silent or vibrate. After class, Xiao Han hadn’t had time to change it. He hurriedly answered the call. It was Yang Lu calling.
“Xiao Han, come to the shop quickly,” Yang Lu urged.
“What happened?” Xiao Han asked quickly.
“People from the Bureau of Industry and Commerce and the Tax Bureau are here,” Yang Lu said in a hurry, “Looks like there’s some trouble. Come here quickly.”
Upon hearing this, Xiao Han immediately ran out.
It would take about ten minutes from the dorm to the school gate and probably another fifteen minutes from the school gate to University Town. If he ran all the way, not only would it waste time, but he would also be covered in sweat. So, Xiao Han decided to drive over.
His car was parked in the school’s faculty parking lot. It was only a five-minute walk away. If he ran, it would probably take just two minutes. After arriving at the parking lot, Xiao Han looked around to make sure no one was there, then he immediately slipped into the driver’s seat. Once inside the car, he didn’t have to worry about being seen.
