Chapter 264: Chapter 265: Sensation
Backstage, there was a similar sense of astonishment.
“I really didn’t expect Xiao Han’s piano skills to be so amazing.”
“If we’d known, we should have made his piece the final show-stopping performance.”
The program team exclaimed in surprise.
Lan Yudie stared blankly at Xiao Han’s silhouette on the stage, her excitement equally astonishing and incredulous. The more she thought about it, the more she felt the girl Xiao Han spoke of was herself. The rhythm of the piano, the melody, and that graceful tune all conveyed an overwhelming sense of sorrow. Maybe bystanders were indifferent, but she, the person concerned, was deeply invested.@@@@
“Searching for Her?” Lan Yudie muttered wistfully, “Xiao Han, are you searching for me? You fool, I’m right behind you.”
Lan Yudie increasingly enmeshed herself in this quagmire, unaware that in Xiao Han’s heart hid a girl in white, a willful girl in white.
After taking his bow, Xiao Han turned and left, bequeathing everyone a splendid turn. He had earned the thunderous applause of the entire audience.
“Xiao Han!” Lan Yudie hurriedly dashed over.
Before Xiao Han could react, Lan Yudie had already thrown herself into his arms, saying excitedly, “I didn’t expect... really didn’t expect you to be so incredible. Did you really write this piece yourself?”
“Of course!” Xiao Han nodded.
“Why are you so outstanding?” Lan Yudie asked excitedly as she looked at Xiao Han, “I feel somewhat proud of you.”
“Is that so?” Xiao Han’s lips curved into a slight smile, saying, “Well... don’t forget what you promised me.”
“What promise?” Lan Yudie asked curiously.
“Heh, you said that if I could get a ticket to the Shuimu University Welcome Party, then you would kiss me,” Xiao Han said with a chuckle.
“Ah?!” Lan Yudie’s face immediately flushed red.
With Xiao Han’s ability, getting a ticket to the Shuimu University Welcome Party was an easy task. His performance that stirred the entire venue took hundreds in the audience on a marvelous journey. It was a perfect trip, one that offered liberation of the soul.
“What, you don’t agree?” Xiao Han asked.
“I... I didn’t!” Lan Yudie demurred shyly, “I didn’t back out. But how can you mention it here of all places!”
At that moment, the other members of the program team started to come out.
“Xiao Han, congratulations.”
“Your performance was a huge success.”
“Yes, you are definitely going to represent our Finance Department at the school’s evening party.”
“Tsk tsk!” Zhang Feng looked at Xiao Han with envy. “Talk about killing us softly. You’re academically brilliant and possess artistic cells, achieving such high proficiency in the arts—how are we supposed to live with that?”
Just as Zhang Feng was complaining, Lan Yudie called.
“Xiao Han, great news, great news!” Lan Yudie said excitedly. “Your show has been selected; this is great, the Finance Department will have a program at the school’s evening party.”
“Hehe, then don’t forget what you promised me!” Xiao Han chuckled.
“I don’t remember any such thing!” Lan Yudie snorted softly.
Upon hearing that, Xiao Han pursed his lips and replied, “Then I just won’t participate in the school’s evening party.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Lan Yudie raised her eyebrows.
“I wouldn’t dare!” Xiao Han shrank his neck back.
“That’s more like it,” Lan Yudie giggled. “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely keep my promise to you.”
After hanging up, Xiao Han’s previously heavy mood lifted considerably. His heart was still fluttering with excitement. The thought of kissing Lan Yudie sent waves of exhilaration and agitation through him, filling his head with images of their kiss.
“What’s got you grinning like that?” Liu Bin asked.
“Nothing!” Xiao Han shook his head.
A smile crept onto Liu Bin’s lips as he spoke, “It was a girl who called you, wasn’t it?”
“Yes!” Xiao Han nodded.
“Hehe, you’re starting to get spring fever, aren’t you!” Liu Bin chuckled. “Come on, spill it—who’s the girl, and from which department?”
Xiao Han shot him a look and replied curtly, “What’s it to you?”
Liu Bin retreated somewhat embarrassedly, smirking. “I’m just showing some concern for you, am I not?”
The success of the party caused Xiao Han’s fame to soar within the Finance Department. National college entrance examination champion, the first ever to score full marks on the exam. These were just invisible and intangible halos. After all, students who managed to get into Shuimu University undoubtedly had good grades and had been significant figures in their high schools. Now in university, they were rather proud; although Xiao Han had captured the top spot in the national exams, they were not overly impressed.
By contrast, the emergence of an artistic genius from the Finance Department was the most surprising thing for them. Xiao Han’s reputation quickly rose to prominence. He soon ascended to the top of Shuimu University’s influential people list. The first person on the list was none other than Qin Xiaotian. This guy had stirred up quite a few controversies at the school, and even though his reputation wasn’t good, he was handsome and rich, which made him incredibly popular with the ladies. It was said that within a week of entering university, he had slept with the belle of the Business Department and even bragged about it over drinks. The incident caused quite a stir, although the woman never spoke out.
Within half a month, Qin Xiaotian slept with seven or eight girls. Accompanying news of Qin Xiaotian were always scandals and gossip. However, despite this, many girls still flocked to him, not for anything else but because the guy was wealthy and drove a supercar around campus every day, with a different girl in the passenger seat each time.
In contrast to Qin Xiaotian, Xiao Han was much more low-key. Although he was worth tens of millions, he never flaunted himself. Even though he owned a BMW SUV, he never drove it but instead let Li Dapang use it. At school, he was understated, donning a simple wardrobe usually consisting of a white T-shirt paired with jeans or slim-fit pants, occasionally switching styles. However, the prices of his clothes and pants were always around two to three hundred yuan. He never splurged just because his net worth rose.
