Bonus Chapter

God Emperor Jin sat upon his throne, forged from the immortal weapons of his fallen enemies. His finger drummed incessantly against the armrest, each tap echoing faintly through the vast hall as he awaited news from the nurses. To say he was nervous would be the understatement of the century.

“Dad, calm down. Everything will be fine,” his daughter said.

Yin’er—the Grand Crown Princess of the Jin Immortal Empire—stood off to the side with her arms crossed, her expression caught somewhere between amusement and exasperation.

“Yeah, Dad. You’re overreacting a bit,” his son added.

Jiao, the First Prince, leaned casually against a pillar, though the occasional flick of his eyes toward the doors betrayed his own unease.

Jin Shu’s head snapped toward them, his eye twitching.

“You two are telling me to calm down?” he demanded. “How exactly do you expect me to do that when all one thousand one hundred and eleven of my wives are giving birth at the same exact time?!”

Yin’er hesitated, then shrugged.

“Uhhhh… yeah, I don’t know.”

Jin Shu dragged a hand down his face.

“I would rather be back on the battlefield,” he muttered darkly, “facing those unkillable things again.”

“It’s not like they’re mortals,” Jiao said, straightening slightly as he slipped into a more reasonable tone. “All of your wives are Immortal Realm cultivators at minimum. Very little could go wrong with their pregnancies. A few are even goddesses—including two Life Goddesses. Statistically speaking, it would be rarer for something to go wrong.”

A dangerous silence fell.

“Jiao…” Jin Shu said slowly, his voice dropping an octave.

Jiao stiffened.

“Shut up.”

Jin Shu’s gaze sharpened.

“If you jinx this, I’ll send you to face the cliff for the rest of your Immortal life.”

Jiao immediately closed his mouth.

BANG!

The grand doors to the throne room slammed open as a maid rushed inside, nearly tripping over herself in her haste.

“Your Majesty!” she cried, breathless. “The empresses—they—they—”

Jin Shu vanished from his throne.

In the next instant, he stood before her.

Before she could finish, his soul surged outward, enveloping her entirely. He dipped into her consciousness, sifting through her thoughts to grasp what she had been trying to say.

Then—

His body began to tremble.

“D-Dad…?” Yin’er asked, her voice wavering as she took a cautious step forward. “What happened?”

“My wives… they’ve…”

“They’ve what?!” Jiao blurted.

A heartbeat passed.

Then Jin Shu’s expression exploded into pure ecstasy.

“They’ve all given birth successfully!” he roared, his voice infused with qi as it shook the heavens and the earth alike. “And—they all gave birth to twins!”

Silence.

Yin’er and Jiao blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Shock spread slowly across their faces.

Two thousand two hundred and twenty-two princes and princesses were born in the tenth year of the Jin Immortal Empire.

The entire empire celebrated for six months straight.
