Chapter 135: | 135 | ?????? Arrival!
"You aren't holding back, huh?" Abraham grimly smiled while signaling his men to step back. The arrival of the red-haired Inquisitor was expected. After all, he wouldn't leave until Abraham's head was within the clutches of his fingers.
"Underestimating you would be my downfall. I wouldn't want to end up like those trash." Leonhart remarked while pointing at the spot where the corpses of the Inquisitors formerly gathered. At the moment, only a tinge of their ashes were left behind.
"You sound like you hate your subordinates." Abraham raised his eyebrows since Leonhart was acting like his subordinates had killed his family. The way he spoke about them was as though speaking of maggots beyond human reasoning.
It was understandable if such a tone was pointed at the accordingly-lower humans with no magic such as Abraham and the people in the United Navy, but having it pointed towards their own Magus. It seems that their hierarchy were much more complicated than anticipated.
"Please don't misunderstand, Fleet Admiral Abraham. None of them are my subordinates. If they were, I would have killed them from their clear incompetence." Leonhart expressed as he spatted out disdainful words towards the dead.
From the tone of the red-haired Inquisitor, it was fairly obvious that there was some internal rivalry amongst the Inquisitors. But after thinking about it for a short moment, Abraham understood why.
'While the Inquisitors stand together, they might be serving different Sovereigns all together. After all, even the faithful believers of a pantheon of gods would have their own favorite god they would personally worship.'
He quietly thought and realized that the humanity of this world weren't that much different from his. Well, it wasn't a shocking fact. After all, even the humanity of his former world had its lowest of societies that might as well be considered as barbaric and maddening.
"But since you are the strongest amongst them, you might as well be their leader. And you failed leading the so-called trashes, signifying your incompetence as a leading figure." Abraham expressed while shaking his head in disappointment.
"Hmm... I fail to understand what you're trying to say, Fleet Admiral." Leonhart squinted his eyes, finding himself confused by the words of the middle-aged man before him.
"What I'm trying to say is fairly simple, Leonhart. A leading figure will lead regardless if his subordinates are pieces of trashes or fine gold. That is a good leader. Regardless if they were bastards, you were the strongest and most competent."
"This means that you are their leading figure."
"And the fact that you didn't lead them in the most competent way means that you are a disappointment one, Leonhart." Abraham explained in the most calm yet mocking way possible.
Leonhart was in silence as though trying to understand Abraham's words. But after some time, the red-haired Inquisitor began chuckling as if he had heard a good joke from the fleet admiral.
"Hahahaha, you're quite good. I wouldn't have seen through your act if not for the fact that I saw my trashy comrades lying dead on the ground." The chuckle of Leonhart echoed throughout the grassy landscape.
Abraham wryly smiled since he had thought that he could keep up the farce as long as possible. After all, the red-haired Inquisitor seemed to love yapping with him. So, why not entertain the guy? Sadly, it didn't last long. Though, what was done had already been done.
His stalling was enough.
"It looks like I couldn't keep distracting you long enough. How unfortunate. I would like to hear more about your yapping." Abraham smirked and took out his revolver, immediately pointing it at the Inquisitor.
Without hesitation or delay, Abraham pulled the trigger and began firing an entire magazine at Leonhart. However, the latter had already casted his defensive spells, making the former's attack ineffective.
"Oh, it appears you want to die." A nerve emerged on Leonhart's forehead. It must have hit his heart since his master was included in the Sovereigns, Abraham wanted to take down.
"As I said before, I don't want to die yet. I'm planning to have a family with my dragoness." Abraham beamed a smile while Leonhart casted an offensive spell.
"I guess this is how it ends." The red-haired Inquisitor muttered under his breath and continued. "Fireball!" After uttering such a word, a crimson ball materialized before Leonhart, propelling itself to the fleet admiral.
Abraham's heart sank while his spine shivered. Even with his remarkable physique, he would die if he directly face the crimson ball of flames. Not only that, it even seemed more compress than the fireballs thrown by other Inquisitors.
"Is this the work of his so-called imagination?" He silently mumbled as uttering its name might actually increase its effectiveness. Not only through its efficiency, but also through its attack power.
"I have to dodge!" Abraham sprinted sideway, causing his ankle to sprain from the instantaneous movement he had done. He fell to the side, rolling on the ground as the fireball exploded on his former position.
*BOOM!*
He glanced back at the red-haired Inquisitor and maintained his uncaring facade despite his rapidly beating heart. "Were you even trying to kill me?" Such a question was understandable. After all, they were more faster spells than the fireball.
The Inquisitor's lightning spell might prove itself enough and he could have been a charred body amongst the evergreen grass.
*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*
After emptying his magazine and reloading his revolver with a new one, Abraham began firing at the red-haired Inquisitor who casted one defensive spell after another. This was why, fighting against an opponent not underestimating you, was troublesome.
They tend to overestimate you, practically going overboard against you.
And he was right.
Out of nowhere, Leonhart disappeared in an instant and materialized beside him. These guys teleport, and them using it was unfair. Such thoughts riddled Abraham's head. After all, he wouldn't be able to dodge what ever spell Leonhart planned to conjure.
"This is the end." Leonhart muttered while conjuring an offensive spell. "Lightning bolt!" Using an instantaneous offensive spell in close range was downright evil. But this wasn't the end for the fleet admiral.
Before the lightning bolt could hit Abraham, Leonhart got flung away by an unknown figure. The lightning bolt impacted this figure, bringing about a crackling electricity that exploded into itself.
*Bang!*
The white mist brought about by the momentary explosion shrouded the air, but as it faded, what replaced it was the appearance of the one and only dragoness of the United Navy.
She glared at the red-haired Inquisitor and spatted out of anger.
"You f*cker dare to touch him while I'm gone!?"
