"Eh?!"
Click, click.
"Don't get excited, try to control yourself. This is normal. You may be able to move briefly on flat ground, but that doesn't mean you can maintain stable control all the time."
“Okay.” Matt Day had barely finished replying when he fell off the tree again.
Bai Xing frowned and asked, "What's wrong with you...?"
"I'm out of chakra."
"..."
Shirahoshi couldn't help but reveal a deadpan expression. With your chakra reserves, training chakra control must be incredibly difficult.
When the training was almost over, Shirahoshi called back the pharmacist Nono from the riverbank, and then took out the bento box he had prepared beforehand. The four of them ate together.
When they saw Shirahoshi take out two enormous bento boxes from her backpack, while the other three only had normal bento boxes, they were immediately bewildered, wondering if Shirahoshi could finish them!
Then, Bai Xing demonstrated to the three of them what a gluttonous person's appetite is like: as one's physique becomes stronger, one naturally eats more.

a few days later.
Inside the mission area, after submitting a D-rank mission, Shirahoshi saw some missions hanging on the wall:
Rank B Mission – Reconnaissance within the Land of Rain: The Forest of Rain
Rank C Mission – Escort a supply convoy to the border of the Land of Rain: Valley of Mist.
Rank B Mission – Support the Border of the Land of Rivers: Flowing Water Canyon.
......
"Aren't any of these missions going to be taken?" Bai Xing pointed to the mission board displayed at the mission office. There were no specific descriptions, but it was clear that each one was related to the battlefields of World War II.
Chapter 14 Requirements for Participating in the Chunin Exams
At the mission office, the chunin were extremely busy. When Shirahoshi inquired, he placed a stack of mission scrolls on the desk. Many of the other chunin looked on in despair. Only then did the chunin speak:
"Shirahoshi Genin, these missions are not ordinary missions. The village is short-handed right now, so we're hoping that you, the instructors in charge, can put in some effort and train some good students to handle these missions as soon as possible."
"I see. Chunin Yosuke, I'd appreciate it if you could take the time to explain this to me."
"It's nothing." Nara Yosuke sat back down in his seat. He was the head of the mission department and was an old acquaintance of Shirahoshi—a D-rank mission maniac who would accept D-rank missions on his mission board almost without even looking at them, and would complete them perfectly.
Now, there are three more followers.
"Teacher, there are seven thousand ryo in total. How should we divide it?" Yakushi Nonou asked, taking seven thousand ryo bills from an office chunin sitting in the corner who was in charge of distributing mission bounties. Behind her were Might Guy, panting heavily, and Uchiha Mikoto, yawning as if the D-rank mission was child's play.
"Okay. Then, four thousand for the teachers and three thousand for you, that's fine."
"?"x2
"Why should I!" Mikoto Uchiha clenched her fists. Normally, you only get 3,000 out of 6,000, but now you want 4,000 out of 7,000?!
She doesn't lack money, but it's money earned through their hard work!
"You'll understand when you become teachers." Shirahoshi took the four banknotes from Yakushi Nonou's hand.
Just then, Nara Yosuke, who had picked up a mission scroll and was about to start working, suddenly remembered something. "Shirahoshi, the Chunin Exams registration has started this year. Do you still want to register?"
"Report." Bai Xing ignored the two women's angry glares and stuffed four thousand taels into his waist pocket. "Let's not charge this year."
Nara Yosuke smirked: "I won't accept it."
After nodding in response to Nara Yosuke, Shirahoshi turned to the three of them and asked, "Yes. Do you want to sign up?"
"Report!" x3
Might Guy doesn't care how much money he gets, as long as he has it. But he's determined to win the Chunin Exams this time!
At this moment, in the Hokage's office.
“Father, I think my team has reached the level of Chunin. Now we just need a C-rank mission. Are there any simple ones that we can give them some experience?”
A black-haired boy stood in front of the desk, while a middle-aged man wearing a Hokage hat sat in a chair. He glanced at the boy, looked through the mission files, and said, "The mission to wipe out the bandits is yours."
"Thank you father!"
dong dong dong.
"Please come in."
Shinnosuke Sarutobi received the mission document from Hiruzen Sarutobi and went to the mission location to collect it. As he turned to leave, he discovered Shirahoshi's arrival.
"It's you? You're here to pick up a C-level mission too?"
"?" Bai Xing was speechless. Since when did you have to ask the Hokage's opinion to accept a C-rank mission? "I'm here to register for the Chunin Exams, and so is my Team 11."
Sarutobi Shinnosuke sneered and turned to look at Sarutobi Hiruzen. The latter nodded slightly and gave him a look that told him to leave. Only then did Sarutobi Shinnosuke angrily walk out the door. As he brushed past Shirahoshi, he snorted coldly as if to mock him.
At this moment, Shirahoshi's inner thoughts were: "Has this kid had another episode?"
After the gate closed, Hiruzen Sarutobi looked at Shirahoshi, pulled out some recent intelligence information about Shirahoshi's class, and after a brief look, discovered that Shirahoshi's Class 11 had completed thirty-seven D-rank missions in just over a month—averaging almost one per day.
Meanwhile, his son Shinnosuke's second team completed sixteen D-rank missions in the same amount of time.
"Shirahoshi, do you know why you've always been able to participate in the Chunin Exams?"
"Why?" Bai Xing asked in confusion, wondering if the old man had suddenly brainwashed him with something.
"It's because your class carried out a C-rank mission back then, but you later had a conflict with Jonin Yazaki and said you wanted to cut ties with the class."
"At that time, that Jonin Yazaki (Special Jonin) told me that if you weren't expelled from the ninja ranks, he would resign, which is why I discussed things with you. The final result was that all mission records related to Team 6 in your file were cleared, resolving the conflict between you and Jonin Yazaki."
"I understand that. But..."
“Young people are just too impatient.” Hiruzen Sarutobi interrupted Shirahoshi, glanced at the documents in his hand, and pulled out a mission file. “This is a C-rank mission.”
"To participate in the Chunin Exams, one must normally complete two or more C-rank missions."
"And they are clearly not enough."
"Only when these kids have seen blood can a ninja be considered a qualified one."
“Go ahead. Don’t worry, this is just a routine escort mission. There might be assassins trying to kill the merchant, but intelligence gathering assassins are just ordinary people, not ninjas, so I believe you can handle it.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi felt that if he didn't push Shirahoshi at this time, he would cause another blunder in the Chunin Exams, and then there would be no way to promote him—he didn't want to temporarily promote Shirahoshi to the cannon fodder level of a probationary Chunin.
Bai Xing took a deep breath, outwardly calm, but inwardly filled with fear. At first glance, this was a C-level mission document, but from another angle, it was clearly an extremely difficult mission that could escalate to B, A, or even S-level at any moment!
"Can I say no?"
“Okay. But the other two members of your team can’t participate in the Chunin Exams. The Uchiha are a bit special; they’ll arrange for Mikoto to complete a ‘ninja mission’ before the exams.” Hiruzen Sarutobi observed Shirahoshi’s every move. Only Shirahoshi would dare to refuse a mission; he wouldn’t have the patience for any other genin.
"okay, I get it."
......
With two weeks to go before the first Chunin Exams, completing a C-rank mission isn't particularly difficult—provided it's a C-rank mission.
"The merchant, from the Land of Hot Springs, is named Mizutani Shoto, 34 years old. He plans to open a hot spring resort in Konoha, but on his way from the Land of Hot Springs to Konoha, he offended a gang from the Land of Fire. The gang has put a bounty on the black market, but the reward is only 30,000 ryo, and there is currently no news of a ninja claiming it..."
"I have a feeling this is a trap."
"What if someone accepts the order halfway through my delivery and a Didi driver comes to my door? Wouldn't this task then become a B, A, or S-level task?!"
At home, Bai Xing lay on the sofa, fiddling with the documents in his hands and the official mission scroll he had received from the mission office. The information on them all told him that this was no ordinary C-level mission.
But once he accepted it, he couldn't put it back: that's how tasks are; once you see the details, you can't refuse!
"I should inform those two tonight. Should I learn the Shadow Clone Technique? It's exhausting to have my main body notify them every day. Maybe I should ask the Hokage for it, but if I do, I'll probably be promoted based on my ninjutsu, and that would be the end of me."
Being a genin is a semi-freelance job; you don't want to be promoted or take on missions to earn money. Before accepting a mission, you have the right to refuse. Chunin, on the other hand, basically can't refuse.

On the commercial street, two girls chatted happily as they walked out of a cake shop. The cake shop owner greeted them with a smile, thinking to himself that it was really not easy for anyone to patronize a cake shop when there was a war going on. Today's turnover was barely enough to make a small profit.
Just as the two girls were carrying the small cakes they had bought and were about to walk into a stairwell between the shops, a black-haired boy appeared behind them and patted their shoulders.
"Aaaaaah!" x2
"Don't be afraid, it's me."
Chapter 15: The first B-rank ninjutsu mastered
"Don't be afraid, it's me."
Upon hearing this, Uchiha Mikoto and Yakushi Nono both turned their heads and realized that it was their own troublesome teacher.
"Okay, okay, you almost made me break the fruit cake I just bought. How are you going to make it up to me?"
"That's it."
"There's a mission, a C-rank one, is that enough?" Bai Xing asked in a voice only the two women could hear.
"Really?!" x2
The hallway wasn't a good place to chat, so Shirahoshi gestured with her eyes to go to the Nonou house to discuss the matter, and the two had no objections. When they arrived at the door, Uchiha Mikoto, who had long considered the Nonou house her second home, acted like the lady of the house, bringing out a pair of clean slippers for Shirahoshi to change into.
"Teacher, what exactly is the mission? Why are you being so mysterious?"
Boom!
"Ouch."
As Shirahoshi changed her shoes, she casually delivered a chop to Mikoto Uchiha's head. Mikoto clutched her head and groaned, "Ninja rule number one: mission secrecy. You didn't learn that, did you?"
"You're keeping your mouth shut, aren't you?" Mikoto Uchiha said irritably.
"Anyway, it's about the same thing." Shirahoshi walked past Mikoto to the sofa, looked at the small cakes that Yakushi Nonou and Uchiha Mikoto had bought, and politely asked, "May I have some, teacher?"
"No!" Mikoto Uchiha immediately blocked her way with her strawberry cake. "You're not even allowed to look at it, you stingy little thing!"
"Heh." Shirahoshi thought that Uchiha Mikoto was more lively and cute in this state. Although she was gentle and considerate in the original work, how could she still have a gentle heart after experiencing so many missions? She was just a ninja whose heart had long since died.
"It's a C-level mission. I've already notified Dai. We'll set off tomorrow at noon. Remember to eat your fill before you leave. Even if you die, be prepared to die a well-fed ghost."
"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey—" Yakushi Nonou poured a glass of milk and placed it on the table in front of Shirahoshi. "Teacher, could you please not say such unlucky things on our first C-rank mission?"
"I'm sorry," Shirahoshi said dejectedly. "Teacher is someone who gets discouraged easily. Perhaps that's why you couldn't become a Chunin and learn higher-level ninjutsu..."
