Chapter 33 is different!
Chapter 33 is different!
"You're silly, you have to go through here and then back here, just like I did."
Harley turned around, and the two sat facing each other. The little horned dragon, which had been nestled on Chen Yan's lap, rolled over and lay comfortably on its back on their crossed legs, fast asleep.
Chen Yan tore off a piece of cloth and covered its navel.
Harley's hands were nimble and her movements swift; the two pieces of cloth were quickly pieced together, stitched together with fine threads, as if they had never been separated.
Chen Yan followed suit and sewed, albeit barely, with only occasional small or medium-sized holes.
Flower Cat was no good; its claws were too sharp and short to hold a small sewing needle. When it got impatient, it would scratch and bite, making things worse and not helping at all. Chen Yan sent it to sweep the floor.
Watching Chen Yan and Harley huddled together under the firelight, sewing a tent stitch by stitch, Hua Miao rubbed her little nose, muttering to herself as she haphazardly rummaged around with a broom.
Wood chips, rotten grass, and clumps of dark cotton were swept up. In the pitch black, the cat couldn't see what it had swept up, but it swept everything into the corner puddle.
The pool connected to the underground river was murky for a moment, but soon became clear again.
As it swept, it sensed something again, and after waving the broom around a few times, a hazy white light appeared on the broom handle. Just as the white light was gradually spreading upwards, it suddenly heard the sound of a pot lid being lifted.
Nothing is more important than eating.
"Chen Yan, what are we having for dinner tonight? I'm starving!"
Hua Miao excitedly ran over to take a look, only to see Chen Yan breaking off wild vegetable roots and throwing them into the pot. Its heart sank, and when it peered into the pot again, its heart sank completely.
Sure enough, in the half-cooked pot of clear broth, only a few wilted wild vegetables floated listlessly. There was no trace of meat, not even a speck of oil.
The cat was furious and raised its paw to overturn the pot, but then it hesitated and went to hug the baby horned dragon that was drinking milk at its feet.
It grinned maliciously and was about to throw the baby horned dragon into the pot.
"Get out of the way, your cat master is adding some meat to dinner!"
The baby horned dinosaur didn't make it into the pot as hoped, and it ended up with two bumps on its head.
While Chen Yan and Harley were still politely debating who should eat the slightly thicker wild vegetable root in their bowls, Hua Miao had already emptied the pot and slyly slipped into the half-sewn tent.
The tent was half the size of the original one. Chen Yan originally planned to let Harley and Flower Cat sleep inside while he found a corner to take a nap. However, after Harley went in, she reached out and pulled him in as well.
The space is cramped; it's difficult for one person to lie down comfortably, let alone two.
They could only lie sideways close together, looking at each other, with Flower Cat and Little Horned Dragon sandwiched between them.
For a moment, only the sound of their breathing echoed in the tent, and the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat strange.
Looking into Harley's sparkling eyes, Chen Yan sensed that she was acting a little strange tonight.
Without going too far, if it were yesterday, she would have already laughed at his clumsy sewing, but tonight she was all smiles and giving him instructions.
At dinner, he would have probably just had a bowl of clear soup in the past, but this time he noticed that Harley had quietly taken all the wild vegetables from her bowl and given them to him.
It's even stranger now.
Harley never took off her clothes and hat when she slept; she was always wrapped up tightly, as if she had transformed into a green, venomous bird, using the two big eyes on the brim of her hat to keep watch.
But this time, she took off her Poison Bird hat, spread out her beautiful hair, and hummed a song that Chen Yan couldn't understand, half-heartedly coaxing the little horned dragon and the flower cat to sleep.
Chen Yan tried to calm his wildly beating heart, but the deeper he breathed, the faster it beat.
"Strange, is this mushroom that powerful...?"
I drifted off to sleep, only to be woken up by the cat stepping on me while I was still half asleep.
Chen Yan opened one eye and first saw Hua Miao carrying the little horned dragon sneaking out, then he saw Harley sleeping wildly and her exposed cleavage right in front of him.
To avoid touching something he shouldn't and getting slapped again, Chen Yan yawned and crawled out of the tent.
He had barely stepped out of the tent when Harley sat up abruptly, watching Chen Yan's departing figure with a mixture of shame and resentment in her eyes.
She pulled out her notebook and looked at the words of wisdom her mother had written down: "We're all hunters, we might be dead tomorrow. What's with all this fuss about being ambiguous? Just listen to me, go for it!"
She has done everything she can directly, so why is no one else stepping up?
"Mother, this is different from what you taught me!"
Harley is going crazy.
The little horned dinosaur made incoherent noises, curiously observing the outside world.
The cat standing opposite it gripped a handful of dry grass stalks. With a deep breath, it shook the stalks, and the originally limp grass stalks suddenly became taut. Then it adopted a starting stance that Chen Yan had never seen before.
It stood upright with its legs spread shoulder-width apart and its tail close to its back, standing like a stubborn rock.
Its right hand gripped the withered grass stalk tightly, and with each breath, a hazy white light emanated from the stalk. Its eyes were fixed on the little horned dragon, and its arm was slightly raised, as if it was waiting for some opportunity.
Just as a dewdrop fell from a blade of grass at its feet, it moved.
The speed of the twitching was extremely fast, which was somewhat similar to its previous move, "Hidden Knife Slash," where the knife was revealed and then slashed. As it exerted force with its wrist, the moment the grass stalk was fully exposed, the white light wrapped around it suddenly shone brightly.
It gritted its teeth, and although it was holding a handful of dry grass as light as a feather, its face was contorted as if it were dragging a heavy mountain.
As the blinding white light reached its limit, it suddenly swung forward, unleashing a visible white blade of energy that shot straight towards the little horned dragon.
With a sharp whooshing sound, the blade energy transformed into a streak of light across the sky, moving at an extremely fast speed, like a thunderclap tearing through the air. Wherever it passed, ravines appeared on the ground, and gravel and sand flew everywhere.
Chen Yan was shocked to see the little horned dragon exposed to the Flower Cat's blade aura.
Just as he was about to rush to the rescue, he saw the flower cat flick the grass stalk in its claws with great elegance. The stalk straightened and instantly turned into ashes and vanished. The sharp blade energy it had unleashed also disappeared into thin air. The strong wind only caused the little horned dragon to tumble over.
Flower Cat took a deep breath and returned its empty hands to their sheaths.
This set of movements is clean and crisp, and the entire movement is performed while maintaining a standing posture. There is no jumping or leaping in the first move "Swallow Return" and the second move "Hidden Knife Slash". It is as if the slash just now was only a fleeting moment, showing its composure and power.
Looking at the cat with its eyes closed, brows furrowed, and claws still waving incessantly, Chen Yan had to admit that it was really putting on an act.
It seems the head chef was also dressed in black and white?
...
Naomi was getting a little frustrated; the clothesline in front of her was completely empty.
She lost the quilt she gave Chen Yan to air out!
The operation to intercept the Lava Dragon is about to begin. These past few days we've had small meetings every day and large meetings every three days. Yesterday, the meeting even lasted until midnight.
She even rushed to deliver meals to Xialong, thinking she would collect the blankets for Chen Yan after the meeting. However, the large meeting at the stronghold lasted until the early hours of the morning, and the small meeting of the supplies team lasted until dawn. When she came over, dizzy and disoriented, the blankets were gone!
Just as she was wondering whether she should go back to sleep or find a blanket for Chen Yan, a few whimpering noises caught her attention.
It's the mascot of the outpost, the Puzhi Pig.
She heard that pigs have very sensitive noses?
She picked up the pig and gently stroked its head, smiling kindly.
Puzhi Pig, looking disgusted, lay on Chen Yan's bed and burrowed around for a while. Finally, it managed to squeeze out a few wrinkled clothes from the gap at the foot of the bed. After taking a few deep sniffs, it trotted out and ran away. Naomi quickly followed.
Following Poogie Pig as it wandered around the base, even climbing onto the rooftops and swaying a few times, Poogie Pig eventually led Naomi outside the base.
It tilted its head back and sniffed the air, as if it had smelled the source of the scent. Just as Naomi was waiting for it to continue leading the way, Poo-Zoo was stunned, and then it sniffed the air again cautiously in disbelief.
The ever-sassy Poozi Pig suddenly changed its expression seamlessly, its wrinkled face now filled with terror, fear, and pleading for mercy.
It's hard to imagine how its four short legs could jump half a meter high and leave afterimages.
It ran back to its base without looking back.
Naomi was taken aback. She followed the gaze of the pig before it turned and ran away, and saw an open-air warehouse piled with logs not far ahead.
Naomi understood. She shrugged, yawned, and went back to sleep.
"Chen Yan, there's nothing I can do about this. When you get back, you'll have to go ask your Xialong for a blanket yourself..."
