Chapter 72 The Dark Wizard Wanda
Chapter 72 The Dark Wizard Wanda
"Come here," the Holy Lord said.
The Holy Lord opened the Book of Darkness, and a magic circle unfolded from his hand. At this moment, he made no attempt to conceal the dark aura emanating from the magic circle; with the Book of Darkness present, attempting to conceal it would seem abnormal.
"This is the Awakening Array."
The Holy Lord's palms moved in the air, and the magic circle in front of him rippled: "It can awaken the dormant power within you, but the process will be very painful."
Wanda looked at the pattern and bit her lip: "I'm not afraid of pain."
The Holy Lord nodded: "Very good. Get ready, the ceremony will begin soon. I hope you can pull through."
Wanda looked up into Shendu's eyes: "Master will help me, won't he?"
The Holy Lord was silent for a moment, then nodded and smiled, "Of course."
The last trace of doubt in Wanda's eyes vanished, leaving only trust and worship for the Holy Lord.
Wanda laughed and said, "That's fine. As long as my master is here, I'm not afraid of anything."
"Yes, let's begin," the Holy Lord said.
Wanda took off her outer robe and stood barefoot in the center of the magic circle. Shendu placed the Book of Darkness in front of her, and black light patterns flew out of the book, passed through the magic circle set up by Shendu, turned into dark red, and flew into Wanda's body.
As Shendu looked at the dark red runes, a slight smile appeared on his lips. Only by strengthening the power he wanted to adapt to could he achieve a qualitative leap. Shendu thought of what he had heard in the museum: Wanda obtained the Book of Darkness and became the complete Wanda.
Now, Wanda in her full form is even stronger.
"Close your eyes."
The voice of the Holy Lord resounded in Wanda's heart: "Feel the power within you, do not resist it, let it be released."
Wanda closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to circulate the chaos magic as instructed by the Holy Lord.
Red light surged from her body, transforming into threads that spread across Wanda's body. The markings unique to dark chaos mages appeared on Wanda's body, along with a dragon representing the Holy Lord on her chest.
Wanda's body began to tremble, her face contorted in pain, and intense pain spread through her body, blood seeping from her tightly closed eyes.
The Lord's voice echoed in Wanda's heart once more: "Hold on, this is only the beginning."
The runes grew stronger and stronger like flames, and Wanda's body rose into the air, the rune flames scorching her.
"Ah!" Wanda finally couldn't help but let out a sharp scream.
The runic flames suddenly exploded and spread in all directions, but another magic array under the Holy Lord's command suppressed the spreading flames back into Wanda's body.
The Lord's eyes were fixed on Wanda at the center of the flames.
An hour later, the flames began to shrink and slowly receded back into Wanda's body.
Wanda fell from mid-air, swayed, and then steadied herself.
She looked down at her hands, where dark red patterns appeared on her palms, and the aura of the Holy Lord emanated from the dragon on her chest.
"How do you feel?" the Holy Lord asked.
Wanda raised her head, her eyes now completely blood red. At this moment, she could clearly feel that the connection between herself and the Holy Lord was stronger than before.
Wanda spoke, her voice becoming ethereal: "It feels like I've been reborn, and the connection with my master is even stronger."
The Holy Lord nodded, closed the Book of Darkness, and said, "It seems the awakening was very successful. What you need to do next is to familiarize yourself with and master this ability."
Wanda looked at her hands, the chaotic magic infused with dark power constantly shifting with her thoughts.
“I can control them,” Wanda said. “I can feel them obeying me.”
The Holy Lord handed the Book of Darkness to Wanda: "This book is yours. You can study its contents at your own pace."
Wanda held the Book of Darkness close to her chest, feeling its friction against her skin. She could feel her entire body yearning for the book.
"Master," Wanda suddenly spoke, "why are you helping me increase my power?"
The Holy Lord looked at her sternly and said, "I told you, you would live to the end."
Wanda's eyes reddened slightly, and she lowered her head, choking back tears as she said, "Thank you, Master."
The Holy Lord reached out and ruffled Wanda's hair: "Get some rest. We'll need you a lot later."
Wanda nodded, clutching the Book of Darkness: "Master, no matter what happens, Wanda will always be on your side."
That night, the king knocked on the Holy Lord's door: "Mordo says he has something to discuss with you."
The Holy Lord opened the door and glanced at Mordo, who nodded without saying anything more.
Wang glanced at the two of them and sighed, "I'll wait for you outside. Call me when you're done talking."
Wang turned and left, closing the door behind him. Only Shendu, Wanda, and Mordo remained in the room.
"You look good," the Holy Lord said.
Mordo walked to the bedside and casually summoned a black ring, but the ring disappeared after a short while.
Mordo sighed as he looked in the direction the ring had disappeared: "Dark magic is more complex than I imagined. Every time I use it, it feels like a new interpretation of the world, far more profound than the magic I learned before."
The Holy Lord nodded: "You finally understand."
Mordo gave a wry smile: "The Ancient One has always told us to stay away from dark magic and Dormammu's power, but now it seems that dark magic is not inherently evil."
"So you regret it? Regret not getting involved with dark magic sooner?" the Holy Lord asked.
"No." Mordo shook his head: "I was just thinking that if the Ancient One had been willing to face the existence of dark magic back then, perhaps Kamar-Taj wouldn't have lost so many excellent sorcerers."
The Holy Lord did not respond; he was sensing when the power of the Mind Gem he had left in Mordo's body would dissipate.
"Let's get down to business."
Modu turned around, his expression turning serious: "The king mentioned a place to me yesterday."
"Where?"
"Beside the contaminated timeline."
The Holy Lord frowned slightly: "What do you mean?"
Mordo explained, "While the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj are guarding the Time Stone, they are also monitoring the stability of various timelines. Some timelines have been corrupted by dark forces for some reason, and have deviated from the main timeline, floating in the cracks of the time flow."
"In those contaminated timelines, the laws of time have collapsed, and the past, present, and future are intertwined, forming a chaotic flow of time."
The Holy Lord's eyes flickered slightly: "Does the young king want me to go to a place like that?"
Mordo corrected him, "This has nothing to do with the king; I just think you should go and take a look."
Why?
Mordo walked up to the Holy Lord and lowered his voice: "Because there is something in that timeline calling for the power of darkness, very strongly."
The Holy Lord was silent for a moment: "What type of thing?"
"I don't know." Mordo shook his head. "But I can sense that the power is somewhat similar to your aura, and it doesn't belong to this universe."
The Holy Lord narrowed his eyes slightly. The aura that did not belong to this universe made him think of some possibilities.
"Does the King know about this?" the Holy Lord asked.
"I know." Mordo nodded. "That's why he came to me. He wants me to take you there, and at the same time, he can personally confirm the situation of that timeline."
The Holy Lord pondered for a moment: "When shall we depart?"
"Now you can." Mordo looked towards the door: "The king is already preparing the teleportation array."
