Chapter 196: - Northstar Turbo 2
By 2035, a whopping 70% of vehicles across the country were electric. Stringent government rules had driven up the cost of fuel-powered engines, pushing most folks to switch. But, funnily enough, the wealthy clung to their gas guzzlers, finding them more stylish and
prestigious.
These gasoline-powered cars, now rare, became even more desirable, emblematic of luxury. Yet, that same year, electric cars saw an incredible rise in popularity. Their cutting-edge AI features had everyone talking and wanting one.
"So, Leon, have you decided on the type of car you want?" Lars inquired. "If not, I can give you a tour of the models we have here. I assure you, we'll find exactly what you're looking for. Perhaps I could suggest some sports cars you might be interested in."
"Ah... Yes," Leon responded thoughtfully. "I don't need a sports car at the moment, so I'll pass on that. I'm looking for the most advanced electric vehicle that fits within the budget." Lars stopped for a moment, then gestured for Leon to follow him. He led Leon to a sleek, luxurious car, its unique blue finish gleaming under the lights. "This," he announced proudly, "is our most sophisticated electric vehicle. It's got four seats and all the bells and whistles." Leon instantly recognized the brand; he had frequently seen advertisements for it on digital billboards and had even considered it in the past. But Freya had mentioned there was a budget limit for the car he could own.
"I like this car," Leon said. "What's the price?"
Lars hesitated briefly. "Let me check on something real quick," he replied before hurrying away.
Lars had received a message that he needed to treat Leon exceptionally well, providing the best service possible. Even when discussing prices, he had to be meticulous to avoid giving a bad impression. Leon's value to their big boss was immense.
Lars called Ronald. "Boss, it seems Leon is interested in a car that exceeds our initial budget. He looks really keen on that model."
"What car and how much?" Ronald asked over the phone. "Don't hold back with him-he's a potential partner for us and incredibly important. So make sure to serve him well."
"But boss, are you sure?" Lars hesitated. "The price difference is ninety thousand dollars." "That's a small amount. Give it to him. We'll gain significant marketing leverage because of him," Ronald responded firmly. "Provide him with the best service."
After hanging up, Lars swallowed hard, realizing how easily the boss was willing to exceed the initial budget for this customer. Any failure on his part to provide top-notch service could spell a significant disaster for him.
Returning to Leon, Lars wore a confident smile. "If you're really interested in this car," he said, "I can arrange it for you right away. This is the Northstar Turbo 2, priced at $390,000. It's currently the world's favorite electric vehicle, packed with the latest cutting-edge technology. Trust me, you won't be disappointed."
Leon paused, mulling over the store manager's explanation. "Isn't this beyond the budget? Maybe I should pick something else."
"No," the store manager quickly interjected. "I've already checked with the boss. Consider it a bonus. We truly value our collaboration with you. You can take this car home today. Just give us a few minutes, and it will be ready for you to drive."
Lars took a deep breath and patted Eric on the shoulder. "Anything can happen to anyone. Luck isn't ours to decide. Your high school classmate got incredibly lucky. From now on, treat customers better, understand?"
"Yes, sir..." Eric nodded, breaking into a cold sweat as he thought about how he had treated
Leon.
True to his promise the night before, Leon planned to take Freya and Lily for a ride in his new car. He was excited about it. Freya was already waiting, and he and Lily were on their way to
meet her.
During the drive, they chatted lightly. Leon listened as Lily talked about her new school and how well her peers were treating her.
"Are you sure you're not hiding anything from me, Lily?" he asked.
"No, of course not," Lily replied with a chuckle. "It's really an amazing school. You visited once, remember? I even introduced you to my friend, Hazel. And I also got the chance to play
Immortal Legacy."
"Really? What's your game name?" he asked, intrigued.
Lily laughed at his question. "I can't tell you yet... Wait until we have enough time to level up. After all, we don't play like normal players," she said teasingly.
"Okay..."
"But Hazel is high level," she added.
"Really? Tell me her game name."
"Oh, sorry... I don't remember, Leon," Lily replied playfully.
They continued chatting casually as they made their way to pick up Freya.
