Chapter 82 Explanation
Chapter 82 Explanation
After leaving the Citadel, a few people approached Arlon and his copy.
Arlon, holding the egg, instinctively prepared for a potential fight.
If they weren't in Kelta, he might have mistaken them for thugs.
The group, mostly Beastmen, bypassed Arlon and headed straight for the copy.
"Are you the Legendary Guide, Arlon?" one of them asked, a wolf Beastman with a long beard and a solid build.
"I'm not legendary or anything like that," the copy replied. "But I am Arlon."
"Hahaha! I win!" the wolf Beastman laughed, prompting some of his companions to join in. A few others groaned and handed over coins.
The copy remained still, confused by the scene.
Still laughing, the wolf Beastman draped an arm around the copy's shoulder. "Relax! I'm not stealing from them. We had a bet. They thought you were the one calling yourself legendary, but I figured the saviors gave you that title, thinking you were a big deal."
Arlon, observing, couldn't tell if they were mocking or if the wolf's personality was just boisterous.
"Ah, I forgot to introduce myself," the wolf said, extending a hand. "I'm Wok, from the communication department. We heard about you killing one of those sons of b*tches."
Arlon relaxed slightly, realizing there was no immediate threat.
"I see," the copy said. "I wasn't alone, though. I killed it with a savior's help." He glanced at Arlon.
"True," Wok agreed, nodding toward Arlon the savior. But it seemed his gratitude leaned more toward the Trionian copy.
After the group introduced themselves and thanked the copy, Arlon left him with Wok. The savior needed to meet the other players, likely gathered at the cafe.
As Wok continued chatting with the copy, he grinned. "Man, I'm glad you're humble. But how did you beat one of those Demons? You're lower level than me!"
The copy sighed internally. Don't they have work to do like everyone else? Out loud, he replied, "I didn't do it alone, as I said."
"Haha! No need to be modest. We know the saviors were paused during that time. Anyway, we have a proposal for you."
"What is it? I can't promise to accept if it's too complicated."
"Haha! It is okay. As you can see, thanks to your achievement, each department will have two days of holiday. Me and my friends here are going for a hunt. Care to join us?"
Wok's offer didn't actually interest Arlon. Just when he was about to reject, he stopped.
The copy wasn't particularly interested but hesitated. "Is the offer just for me, or can the savior join as well?"
Wok considered for a moment before answering. "Hmm, we're pretty full, so we can only take you."
Arlon didn't like talking about himself in the third person, but he didn't have another choice. He had also told Zephyrion to use this story if someone asked. Of course, no one would ask.
"I logged out after hearing Arlon's words, I logged out. The plan was simple, we would continue the next day. But it seems like our plan was ruined by the Named Monsters.
Arlon was attacked by them even before killing the other unintelligent Keldars. In the end, he defeated them."
"Then why did you get the credit?" Lei asked this time.
"Our best guess is because he wasn't out of the fight yet. As you know, we gain levels after the fight is over.
Since the Named Monsters attacked before he was out of combat and I was in the same combat before logging out, I received the credit.
You know that the Trionians can't get credit, nor would their names be shared."
Everyone nodded, deceived by what Arlon said.
Except one...
"Then, what about the Demon? Trionians can't kill them," June asked.
"Ah, don't worry. I was getting there."
Arlon was definitely NOT getting there. He had forgotten about it.
By luck, the waiter brought his drink. In the meantime, Arlon started creating a suitable lie.
Even though he had a short time and his brain wasn't the best, he had an advantage, his copy.
He could think by himself and with his copy, making his ability to think twice as fast.
This wasn't some kind of magic, it was just that he had two brains including the copy.
After he thanked the waiter, he waited until he was out of hearing reach and turned back to June.
"I don't know how since I wasn't there, but according to Arlon, the Demon attacked him after the Named Monsters.
Of course, it wasn't immediate like before, so he was out of combat this time. But, after that much sound, the Demon understood that something was happening and attacked him.
He, by himself, won against the Demon but didn't kill him. Instead, he used magic to restrain him until I logged back in.
And when I logged in, he immediately told me to kill it. So, I kind of stole his kill, and his experience since I leveled up."
Arlon told them his new story, but he didn't know if anything was missing. So he started waiting for their reaction.
If they didn't believe or if there was a mistake, the lie would be over completely.
