Chapter 7 The Expelled Tifflin
Chapter 7 The Expelled Tifflin
After Liu Bei dealt with the goblin assassin, he stood on the watchtower and saw Sefro, whom he had been looking for, but he seemed to be arguing with that trio of scoundrels.
He called to Ansel to go with him.
They still have a score to settle with that bastard trio!
"There are children here! You idiot!"
"We're running for our lives!"
"It's unbelievable! Not only did you bring the goblins here, but you also let them kidnap the Archdruid!"
"Druids? Are they Halsin?" Liu Bei overheard the bombshell as he approached, but the two arguing men didn't respond, their eyes filled with anger towards each other.
Unable to intervene in their conversation, Liu Bei remained silent, listening for a while before gaining some understanding of their argument and the current state of the woodland.
Eladin and his two companions were adventurers from Baldur's Gate. Later, for some unknown reason, a druid from the woodland joined their party. However, the three of them returned, while the druid disappeared, reportedly captured by goblins.
Moreover, Liu Bei could deduce from Eladin's words that the druid's situation was not much different from his own.
Liu Bei was furious at Eladin's actions, but considering the goblin army lurking outside, now was not the time for internal strife; he needed to unite every available force!
After careful consideration, Liu Bei decided to intervene in the dispute between the two to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Unexpectedly, before Liu Bei could intervene, he suddenly saw Eladin's eye twitch. The next moment, Eladin clenched his fist and punched Sefro in the face!
"Enough!" Liu Bei reached out and blocked the punch.
The anger in my heart could no longer be suppressed; this brat is not worth plotting with!
He slapped Eladin across the face and yelled, "What else do you want?"
Liu Bei's long-suppressed anger erupted at this moment, "Are you only going to use all your strength on the person who saved you?"
"We encountered goblins in the wild, and Ansel and I risked our lives to rescue the three of you, but you deserted us, almost causing us to fall into the hands of the goblins."
"Now that the Druids are missing because of you, and Sefullo rescued you from danger, instead of showing remorse, you shift the blame to others. How can you be so cowardly and selfish!"
"This slap wasn't for myself, but for everyone who was put in danger because of you!"
"Who told you to save me? I never asked you to save me!" Eladin didn't think he was in the wrong. "You look down on me just like them, don't you? I've had enough of this place! I'm leaving!"
He struggled to break free from Liu Bei's grasp and immediately called to his two other companions to leave!
"Are we just going to let him go like that?" Flames danced on Ansel's hands, clearly indicating that he wasn't just thinking about giving this guy a punch, but about killing him!
"That's it!" This person is hateful, but killing him won't change anything. Besides, the goblin army outside is watching this place with predatory eyes. Their battle here, no matter the outcome, will only bring pain to their loved ones and joy to their enemies.
"Thank you," Sefro said to Liu Bei, "The goblins have their eyes on this area now, we need to leave quickly!"
Where are you going?
Baldur's Gate.
"The path to Baldur's Gate has been blocked by the goblin army!"
Liu Bei's words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Sefro's heart, and he became extremely flustered upon hearing them.
Seeing this, Liu Bei tried to persuade him to stay, saying, "Why don't you stay here for now? Who is this druid you mentioned earlier? Is it Halsin?"
"Yes. If Halsin were still here, I would seriously consider your suggestion, but now the druids of the woodlands are driving all outsiders out! I advise you to leave as soon as possible! Take a detour; you can always find a way to bypass the goblin army!"
"And this attack will only strengthen the druids' resolve!"
Liu Bei was very puzzled. The druids he had encountered at Dagger Beach were all kind-hearted people who pursued a balance between humanity and nature. Their current actions clearly violated the creed they followed, so he continued to ask, "Why did they drive you away?"
"Before this attack, there were several waves of monsters attacking this place. The druids blamed us outsiders for bringing them here. No one is welcome here anymore! They are preparing a ritual to completely isolate this place from the outside world! We cannot stay. If we stay, everyone will die here. We are not warriors."
Liu Bei and Ansel exchanged a glance, realizing that the situation was somewhat beyond their expectations. The letter they had received earlier only mentioned that Halsin had disappeared, the woodlands were leaderless, and they were facing attacks from monsters.
This is completely consistent with what Sefolo said.
It was for this reason that the Green Garden entrusted the nearest druid society, the Swordsmen of the Misty Forest, to send people to help resolve the crisis in the woodland.
Because of the turmoil in the High Wilderness, the Swordsmen's Society could not spare suitable personnel in a short time, which is why Liu Bei and his companion were able to take on this task.
However, the letter made no mention whatsoever of the opening ceremony in the woodland to isolate it from the outside world.
If this decision had been made from the beginning, then there would have been no need for Liu Bei and his men to come.
"So how did you get here? Did you also come from Eltoril?"
Sefro seemed a little surprised by Liu Bei's question: "We did indeed come from Eltoril, how did you know that?"
"We encountered another group of Tyflins on the road. They also came from El Toril and said that the Tyflin race had been completely expelled by El Toril."
Sefro remained silent, clearly convinced that Liu Bei's guess was correct. After a long pause, he finally asked, "Are they alright?"
"This is bad! They were attacked near Dragonspear Keep by a group of goblins, and most of them were killed or wounded! Luckily, we arrived in time, or they would all be dead over there! Now, they are heading towards Waterdeep."
"How could this be? Wasn't it said that there was a Tifflin settlement near Dragonspear Fortress?" Sefro couldn't believe it.
"What?!" Liu Bei and Ansel were immediately shocked. "How could that place be the settlement of the Tifelins? When we passed by, it was completely deserted; we didn't see a soul in sight!"
"Sigh, never mind, let's not talk about this anymore. I need to go and gather my people to pack their things!" Sefro turned to leave.
"Wait a moment, perhaps there's no need to rush!" Liu Bei immediately called out to Sefro, saying, "We have come entrusted by Emerald Garden, and our mission is to resolve the crisis in the woodland. With us here, perhaps the druids will accept you."
Liu Bei paused, then added, "Ansel and I just spotted a goblin who had infiltrated the lookout tower. Whether you stay or leave, the most urgent thing now is to strengthen the forest's defenses. If the goblin army manages to break into the forest, we'll all die at their hands!"
Sefro didn't believe Liu Bei could make the druids stop the ritual, but he also admitted that Liu Bei was right!
He didn't want to risk his people being slaughtered by the goblins by rashly embarking on the road to Baldur's Gate. Although there was conflict with the druids in the woodlands, he couldn't bear to see them being taken advantage of by the goblin army.
Regardless, they are now able to sleep peacefully in the woods thanks to the druids for taking them in!
"By the way, what's the situation with Halsin that you mentioned before, and who's the person presiding over the ceremony in the woodland now?"
"The Woodland Ceremony is now being presided over by Kahar. As for Halsin, I had previously heard that the adventure team had taken on some incredible mission, but I don't know the details. Halsin just went out with them immediately after hearing about it." Sefro shrugged. "As for what happened afterward, just as you saw today! Since the sinking, there has been no place for the Tiflin in El Toril."
The sinking that Sefro mentioned refers to El Toril's brief descent into Aphonas, the first of the nine hellish layers, before recently returning to the surface.
"How long has Halsin been gone?"
"About ten days or so!"
The timing matches up, but things are also very strange!
The letter was sent around the time Halsin left, but why was the sender so certain that Halsin would not return?
