Chapter 47 The Wrathful Wand
Chapter 47 The Wrathful Wand
The choice of core is crucial for a wand, but Siron found himself seemingly to have chosen the wrong one.
The staff core made from the troll's spine was not only incredibly hard, but also unusually slow to react to magic, inheriting all of the troll's weaknesses. This made the inlaying process extremely difficult and inefficient.
According to Celen's original plan, the wand could be made in two days at most, after which he would have plenty of time to complete the holiday homework assigned by the professor.
But now... he's already wasted his entire Christmas break, and in order not to miss classes after the start of the semester, he's been sleeping only two hours a day and eating only one meal a day. When he's really too tired, he goes to the school hospital to ask Mrs. Pomfrey for a bottle of sobering potion to tide him over.
Even so, the core of the staff did not fully integrate into the staff until the early hours of the first day of school.
In an instant, the previously separate cane sections merged back into one, and began to shake violently on the table, producing a booming sound as loud as firecrackers.
Xilun instinctively took a step back, fearing it might suddenly explode.
But the next second he realized something even more terrifying... It was one in the morning, the time when most people were sound asleep.
The roar woke everyone up. They walked out of the dormitory cursing and swearing, each with undisguised anger on their face, vowing to find the guy who disturbed their sleep and settle the score!
This wasn't difficult; the direction of the sound was too obvious, and everyone immediately pinpointed Xilun's dormitory.
Someone came up and knocked on the door, shouting for Xilun to stop making noise.
But now Xiren had no choice. He opened the dormitory door, indicating that they could try it themselves.
But no one went in; everyone even took a step back in unison.
Just kidding!
Inside, a two-foot-long, wrist-thick wooden stick spun like a windmill, and in the blink of an eye, the sturdy table was reduced to pieces.
The bed and bookshelf weren't spared either; they crumbled at the slightest touch, as brittle as freshly baked corn chips.
If that hit me, I'd be covered in bruises.
"Gulp..."
A distinct sound of swallowing could be heard from the crowd, and everyone stepped back, afraid that the thing might escape from the room.
Xilun also mingled in the crowd, constantly moving backward... He was scared too.
Fortunately, Professor McGonagall arrived at that moment.
She was wearing pajamas and had obviously been woken up as well.
Seeing a bunch of people gathered together, she was practically furious. "What are you all doing?! Are you trying to wake up everyone in the castle?!"
Everyone unanimously distanced themselves from Xilun, the meaning of which was self-evident.
Professor McGonagall, of course, saw it too, and frowned, saying, "Olivander? What on earth are you up to?!"
Xilun didn't say anything, but simply led her to his dormitory.
Then Professor McGonagall fell silent as well.
"You mean that thing... is a magic wand?" She pointed to the baseball bats frolicking around the room and rubbed her eyes hard.
"That's right."
"Not a baseball bat?"
"No, it's a magic wand, I just finished it."
Professor McGonagall fell silent again.
She kept trying to convince herself that she had just imagined it, but she couldn't. She knew she was perfectly clear-headed, so clear-headed that she could tell at a glance that the baseball bat was over two feet long.
Therefore, Professor McGonagall decided to first disperse the crowd.
"Go back to your dorms!" she shouted.
Although everyone was incredibly curious, they reluctantly returned to their dormitories after seeing Professor McGonagall's serious expression.
Some of the bolder ones would pretend to close the door and then peek out through the crack.
Professor McGonagall ignored all of that and simply waved her wand forcefully.
Something seemed to have enveloped the area around the Siren dormitory, and then the Gryffindors in the other dormitories could no longer hear the roaring sound, and the castle returned to silence.
"You…" she glanced at Xilen, "Can you make that thing stop?"
"I'll give it a try."
With Professor McGonagall by his side, Celen felt a bit more confident. He mustered his courage and walked into the dormitory, slowly extending his hand while quietly chanting a complex incantation.
Seemingly tired from playing around, the wand spun twice more before landing with a thud in Xilun's hand... on the ground.
It was too heavy; Xilun couldn't hold on to it.
Professor McGonagall's pupils contracted, and the corners of her mouth twitched involuntarily.
Is this thing really a magic wand?
Professor McGonagall took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, before saying, "Because of your recklessness, Gryffindor loses twenty points. Remember to restore this place to its original state!"
After saying that, she hurriedly left the dormitory corridor.
By now, Professor McGonagall was wide awake; she just wanted to figure out as soon as possible whether all of this was normal.
As the instigator, Siron's words cannot be counted, and given his age, he probably can't explain it clearly... but the president of the International Wizarding Federation, who knows countless secrets, can.
As she passed the common room, Professor McGonagall glanced at the time... It was almost two o'clock; she hoped the principal was still awake.
The sound of the portrait of the fat lady opening and closing came from downstairs.
No sooner had Professor McGonagall left than Fred and George sneaked over. Seeing the mess in the dormitory, they both gasped in shock.
"It looks like the Gringotts vault that's been robbed by the Nifflers," Fred said.
“Nifflers aren’t that rude,” George said. “What did you do?”
"I don't know how to explain it either," said Siron, as he took out his wand and pointed it at a pile of wood scraps.
"Restored to its original condition!"
Oh, this is actually a bed...
"Don't just stand there, come and help," Xilun said, turning his head. There was a lot of stuff in the dormitory, and even with magic, it would take him a long time to fix it all by himself.
"Well... okay." Fred and George shrugged and joined in.
The three of them worked together and restored the dormitory to its original state in less than half an hour.
After doing all this, the Weasley brothers prepared to go back.
Then Fred went up and patted Celen on the shoulder. "I think you need some time to think this over."
"Think about how to explain to the principal tomorrow that you demolished the dormitories," George said.
The two chuckled as they walked out of the dormitory, also helping to chase away the other people who were peering around at the door.
Only then did Xiren finally have time to look at the wand that was still on the ground.
Oak, gibbons' spine, 35 inches
[Status: Perfect]
[Special Feature: Backfire: The spell will be returned to the user (the clumsy troll always ends up hurting itself.)]
Sluggishness: Records the first spell a wizard casts. After that, no matter what spell is recited or what gestures are used, all magic will automatically be converted to the initially recorded spell (a troll's brain can only hold one spell, and the same goes for its spine).
Iron Armor: Increases the effectiveness of defensive spells by 30%.
