Chapter 75 Beast Tide: Only Entry, No Exit
Chapter 75 Beast Tide: Only Entry, No Exit
Elor looked at the tent in front of him with some anxiety.
Dorothy had been inside for quite some time by then.
"Dorothy, will she be alright...?"
Seeing Elor's concern, Lyons comforted her, "It's alright, Dorothy is much more reliable than she looks."
"That doesn't mean it's taken this long to come out."
Just as Elor was getting worried, the tent flap was finally lifted again.
Dorothy came out from inside, looking thoughtful.
"Dorothy, are you alright?"
As soon as he came up, Elor reached out and touched Dorothy's body, looking her over to see if she was injured anywhere.
Dorothy shook her head.
"I'm fine."
"It's good that you're alright." Elor breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, "What were you doing inside for so long? And why did you take the communication rings from me and Lily?"
"I used it to make a deal and exchanged it for some information about the Toughwood Forest."
"intelligence?"
Elor looked at Dorothy, who had walked up to her, and asked curiously, "So what information did you exchange?"
Dorothy pointed to the dark forest outside and said, "In two days, there will be a beast tide here."
"ah?!"
"What?!"
Both Elor and Lyons were startled when they heard the word "beast tide".
Leons, her expression serious, reminded her, "Are you sure it's been these past two days? I haven't sensed any magical tides or anything unusual."
Before each beast tide, something unusual always happens.
Magicians are the most likely to notice this anomaly.
But she didn't feel anything.
Elor cautioned, "This is the Toughwood Forest, where the flow of magic is inherently chaotic. We can't judge based on the outside situation."
"Uh, I forgot." Leon's face flushed slightly.
She only remembered this after being reminded.
Leons shook her head slightly and reminded us, "If they're not lying to us, we'd better leave quickly."
Elor agreed with this statement; the beast tide was indeed too dangerous.
Given their strength, even if they could use magic, they still wouldn't be able to protect themselves from the beast tide, let alone now that they can't use magic freely.
"Well, actually, the beast tide here isn't the same as the beast tide you're thinking of." Dorothy raised her little hand, gesturing for the two people in front of her to look at her.
"The beast tides in the Resilient Wood Forest occur every two or three months, similar to the mating season of wild animals. The magical beasts become emotionally agitated periodically and need to be released. Generally speaking, they cannot breach any camp that is even slightly powerful."
"So we don't need to worry about that."
Then Dorothy recounted all the information she had heard from Fisher.
This likely describes the power structure and specific strengths of the human camp within the Resilientwood Forest.
The strongest and closest camp to the inside is controlled by an old mercenary known as "Red Shield".
The other party is a high-ranking warrior who, I heard, participated in the assassination of the royal family of the Radiant Kingdom in his early years.
The other party has been established here for more than ten years.
People from other camps typically trade with the dark elves deep in the forest through each other.
And what became of Kane in the end?
Although Fisher did not reveal what information she had traded with Kane, she did tell Dorothy where Kane ended up.
After completing his deal with Fisher, Kane contacted the Red Shield through Fisher's connections. He has now most likely entered the Dark Elf territory deep within the Toughwood Forest.
Dorothy crossed her arms, her expression calm. "So we have no hope of finding Kane now."
Leonce pressed her left hand to her temple and looked around.
Thick tree trunks were planted around the camp to serve as walls.
The defenses look decent, but against magic, this level of defense is utterly ineffective. Even a mid-level mage could easily create a large hole in such a wall, let alone a magical beast.
She no longer cares about Kane.
Like Dorothy, Leona also knew the true intentions behind the task her brother had assigned her.
Of the three, Elor was probably the only one who took this mission seriously.
Now that Lyons knows a beast tide is about to break out here, her first thought is to leave as soon as possible and ensure Elor's safety.
Although Dorothy said the beast tide here wasn't very large.
It's just that some repressed monsters need to be released.
But she was still worried and didn't want the three of them to be in such a dangerous environment.
Moreover, although the camp here is supposedly managed, it is completely disorganized.
This is the true law of the jungle.
Even if you are powerful, you still have to be careful when surrounded by wolves.
If they reveal even the slightest flaw, they will be devoured.
"Since Kane can't be found for the time being, let's leave the Toughwood Forest first," Leons suggested.
Errol, of course, wanted to oppose this proposal.
But Leon looked at Elor very seriously and said, "Elor, there are three of us now. You've seen the situation here. Any one of these people in the camp could be a wanted criminal."
"We are ignorant of their strength and methods. You are just a novice mage. How many spells can you cast with your magic power? And then what? Are you going to have Dorothy use her frail body to carry a longsword to protect the two of us?"
"How many times can she swing her sword? How many people can she kill?"
"Can you guarantee that you can successfully cast spells when facing a mid-level warrior?"
"Could Dorothy survive a mid-level warrior's sword?"
"Erol, you have far more adventure experience than I do. You're a mercenary now; can't you even do the simplest strength analysis?"
Leonse's string of words left Elor speechless.
Elor lowered her little golden head.
"I just... I just don't want this mission to become a simple escape."
Seeing Elor soften her stance, Leona's expression also softened. She stroked Elor's head and said softly, "I know."
Dorothy comforted him, saying, "Yes, there's nothing shameful about running away. We're just gathering our strength now."
Elor looked up at Leonce, then looked down at Dorothy standing beside her.
She reached out and pulled them both into her arms.
Thank you.
After calming Elor down, the three decided to leave the Resilient Forest now.
Dorothy will drive; Elor is feeling down right now and not fit to drive.
However, when Dorothy drove the camel to the camp gate, they were stopped.
"Halt! During this time, entry is permitted, but exit is not."
"Anyone who enters the camp must help defend against the beast tide during this period."
As he spoke, magical light began to emanate from the camp guards.
Dorothy narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Two mid-level warriors think they can stop me?"
