Chapter 624 - 624: But I'll Beat You Up with Yae Miko!

Hold on...Hadn't someone said something like this before too?

Suddenly recalling that it seemed someone had said words like these before, Lumine couldn't help but think this way as well.

But perhaps because she was misremembering, she could never quite recall who it was that had said it.

Of course, this wasn't really all that important either.

"Right, so even gods retire?" Miko voiced the very same question as Lumine.

Although for now it was merely a single Gnosis sitting here, combining that with how, earlier, the Geo Archon had practically just watched Kaito searching for Mobius without taking any action himself, Miko could already guess the reason why.

What's more, Miko honestly wasn't all that surprised by the present situation anymore.

After all, whether now or before, far too many astonishing things had already happened to Kaito; at this point it was, at most, a case of one more not being too many and one less not being too few.

"Wanting to quit and retire is perfectly normal, it's just—couldn't he bring this thing over himself, or let me head over there? Having Ningguang deliver it now makes it feel like He's afraid I won't accept the Gnosis."

Taking the chance afforded by answering Miko and Lumine's question, Kaito couldn't help but grumble about Zhongli a little.

He'd originally figured Zhongli would at least summon him over or something, but in the end the man simply had Ningguang deliver the Gnosis, never showing up in person at all.

No—He Himself, the god, that is.

"Then shall I send this thing back to Him?" At this, Wendy looked ready to return the Gnosis the very instant Kaito agreed.

Of course, she was merely saying the sort of thing that suited the role she'd always maintained.

If it were to be sent back, then it would surely be Kaito's side doing the returning.

"I think I'll find some time to go have a talk with Him instead," Kaito answered quickly.

"Mobius, why have you sat down?" Just then Wendy suddenly said this, looking at Mobius, who had at some unknown point seated herself on Kaito's bed, drawing the gazes of everyone present—or, to be precise, Miko and Lumine—over toward her.

"Isn't it perfectly normal to sit down when you're tired of standing?"

Looking at the seemingly skittish, easily-startled Wendy and the others beside her, Mobius answered her question as though it were the most natural thing in the world.

"If you're tired, then go rest in your own room—didn't Kai just get a room ready for you a moment ago?" Wendy, too, looked utterly self-righteous.

This little girl really does seem to have quite the grudge against Mobius...

Still, when you're tired you really should go sleep in your own room..

This Mobius definitely has impure motives!

Off to the side, Miko was silently thinking just this.

Had it been anyone else, she wouldn't have thought this way, but Mobius clearly didn't fall into that category—after all, back when Mobius had impersonated her and Lumine, she'd been utterly like a lust-starved fiend, as though she'd die if she didn't do that sort of thing.

And so, Miko was quite certain she had some ulterior aim.

"Then I'm tired too, I'll sit for a bit." After thinking it over, Miko sat down beside Mobius.

Since Mobius could use this excuse, then she could use it too—that was perfectly reasonable.

"Heh, you've all sat down, so I'll sit too."

Looking at Miko and Mobius, Wendy plopped right down as well, leaving only Lumine and Kaito still standing.

Why has everyone suddenly sat down..

In the space of a moment's daze, Lumine realized that Miko and the others had all sat down, which got her wondering whether she'd be better off sitting too, lest she come across as out of place.

"Lumine, come sit over here too—why are you still standing?" Just then Miko suddenly said this to Lumine.

"Oh, okay." Still torn over it, Lumine stopped agonizing the moment she heard Miko's words and immediately sat down beside Wendy.

And just like that, the edge of Kaito's bed had its spots occupied by the several of them.

"Then I'll sit here, I guess." Looking at the several of them seated on the bed, Kaito simply sat down on the chair beside it.

Nothing to be done—the spots along the bedside had all been filled by Miko and the rest, so he might as well sit in the chair for a while.

Although he was, in a sense, the one who'd started doing this first, he hadn't expected Miko to lock horns with Mobius's side so quickly.

Should he find some excuse to slip away for a bit?

He couldn't very well just keep sitting here forever, all of them staring wide-eyed at one another, could he?

Sitting in the chair, Kaito rather wanted to make a break for it.

Although in reality it was just Miko, Lumine, and himself, in everyone else's eyes there were also Mobius and Wendy's side added in, and he couldn't very well treat them as thin air.

And if he didn't, things would get a bit troublesome—he couldn't exactly go for a 1-versus-4, could he? At that point even using both hands wouldn't be enough.

"I'll go find Zhongli first." No sooner said than done—Kaito immediately stood up and walked out the door.

In any case, while going off to find Zhongli he could still, in a manner of speaking, count as keeping an eye on Miko and Lumine here, so there was nothing to worry about.

Then Kaito, who had already stepped outside, replied, "You stay home."

"Fine."

Sitting back down weak and listless, Wendy looked thoroughly out of spirits.

Then, all of a sudden, she spoke up again, full of vigor: "Mobius, don't you go thinking of pulling something while Kai's not around, or else I'll—"

"Or else what? You won't hold back?"

Mobius wore a beaming smile.

"Or else I'll beat you up together with Miko!"
