Chapter 311 Geronimo
Chapter 311 Geronimo
"Did he just...?" Nika asked with a gaping mouth.
"I think he did..." Medusa's eyes were so wide they brightened her face.
"Can he fly?" Nika asked another question, but this time Luna replied shaking her head. Experience more on My Virtual Library Empire
"Uhm, no."
"What a madman!" Cassandra, who joined in the fight to keep Luna safe, smiled as she leaned over the hole left by Nika's gun, the same hole Uriel used to exit the airship.
"This would be a great moment to ponder about my life choices." Uriel said, but his words were only heard by the nightflyers who targetted him.
It was a free fall and he had nothing but an alloy wire tied to his pocket knife. It would have been a good idea to tie himself to the ship before jumping, but he thought of something he deemed even better than that.
By taking advantage of the fact that the hungry flying beasts were attempting to drag everyone outside the ship and use their numbers to kill them in the air, Uriel expected to be able to tether himself to one of them by using the wire as a grappling hook. Unfortunately for him, as soon as Uriel jumped outside he was swarmed by too many cryptids at the same time.
Long piercing claws grabbed him and fangs clung to his every limb, but in spite of the pain Uriel held big smile on his face.
"Just because I failed doesn't mean I failed!" He shouted a nonsensical sentence as he enjoyed the thrill running through his veins for the first time in a long while.
"What? You know I would have survived." Uriel shrugged his shoulders.
"I know, but you almost got me killed. I tried to tell them you were fine, but Medusa threatened to use her trait on me if I didn't fetch you before you touched ground."
Uriel couldn't deny he felt a bit warm inside by how much his friends cared for him, but then he reminded that many of his employees also fell prey to the cryptids.
"You shouldn't have bothered... it would have been better if you saved the others."
"Tsk, don't underestimate me. I got a bit more practice with the earring and Miss Phlox lent me a hand with her trait. They're all safe aboard the Pegasus under Luna's care."
Relief gave way to joy as a sudden rain of flux orbs and cryptid corpses showered them from above. Nightflyers were terrible and really tough, but they were small in size and their strength was mostly in numbers which meant they were now, quite literally, swimming in flux orbs.
The threat was erradicated in one of the most daring feats ever performed by a hunter. Not only did Uriel jump out without any skydiving gear or contingency plan, he also fought mid air with something that could have been bought in any cornershop and, finally, he also survived to tell the tale.
Now the Dungeon Raiders had more than enough flux orbs to use as fuel to cross the Pacific ocean, their pantries were filled with both fresh and synthetic food and they were stocked with their last load of orichalcum ready to be refined which also meant they now were able to recharge their own batteries.
All they needed now was a couple days to repair the damage Nika's coil gun caused to the ship's hull and the broken landing bay door.
For once, all the stars seemed to be alligned for the Dungeon Raiders to finally start raiding some dungeons on their own.
