Chapter 236 Mignight campus

Chapter 236 Mignight campus

After his friends left the coffee shop, Peter remained sitting in the chair for a long while still trying to understand why won't his closest friends believe him. He knew that the idea of cryptids on the loose inside city walls was deranged, but after seeing that creature it didn't sound so crazy anymore.@@@@

"Maybe if they saw the creature they would believe me." He mumbled but he soon quit the idea since he knew cryptids didn't appear in any photographs. He'd seen shapeshifting traits before and he was absolutely certain that the creature he saw was a cryptid, but without any means to prove it his friends would still think him crazy.

"Excuse me, can you please leave? You're scaring away our customers."

"You think I'm crazy too!? I'll show you! I'll show all of you that what I'm saying is true!" Peter stormed out of the coffee shop and began roaming the campus. He wanted to see the creature again, he needed to get some proof he was telling the truth and he wouldn't rest until he accomplished his goal.

He wasn't crazy and he knew it, but being called a liar even by his closest friends had a negative impact on him. It made him reckless and desperate to be taken back by them and he knew exactly what he needed to do.

He waited until dark and headed towards the 'boxes' which were square buildings in the outskirts of the campus filled with classrooms. They were as ugly as they were practical because without them, the college would have trouble coping with the amount of students having class at the same time.

He looked from side to side as though making sure he wasn't being followed and then rolled up his sleeve and cut his wrist causing a thin stream of blood to fall to the ground with a dripping sound. Then, he started running to a random direction making a path with his own blood.

It was odd that Peter would go through such lengths to prove he wasn't crazy. His actions made him look like he was in a manic state, though there were no witnesses to his madness other than the beastly creature that was drawn by the smell of his blood glaring down at him from atop the building.

Peter didn't see the silvery fur, he didn't feel the long claws neither did he hear the howl that came after.

"Didn't you say you couldn't tell individuals apart?"

"Yes, but I remember his cologne. He should be in that general direction but I can't know for sure."

"Wait!"

"What?" Uriel replied with annoyance.

"I'm scared." Amy said as she held on tight to Uriel's arm, but he shook her off.

"Stop behaving like a..." Uriel's words died in his mouth and Amy bumped into his back.

"Were you going to say pussy!? You were! That is so offensive for so many different reasons!" Amy pinched him on the back trying to cause him some pain but he didn't react. Instead of the pained yelp she expected, a long howl erupted in the darkness.

Uriel could only catch a glimpse of the wolfish creature as it disappeared by jumping from building to building with ease, but just that was enough to send chills running down his spine. He expected to see an anthropomorphic cryptid, but what he saw would give hunters nightmares.

"Hey, did you notice?"

"W-what?" Amy stuttered her short question.

"My flashlight didn't go out, that is no cryptid."

They rushed over to the place where the creature came from and there they found a corpse, if it could be called that way, completely mangled and torn apart. The creature didn't just kill the student, it shred it to pieces with such violence that blood splattered all over the place making it look like the setup for a rave under Uriel's black light.

"Ahhhhh!" Amy shrieked to the top of her lungs, but Uriel covered her mouth.

"Didn't you hear me!? This isn't the work of a cryptid, it's a human with a shapeshifting trait. A beast might let you be if it sated its hunger, but a human wouldn't let go any witnesses. You're a hunter, behave like one," Uriel scolded her, his hand pressing so hard on Amy's mouth she couldn't speak and all she did in reply was to blink. "This must remain a secret, don't tell anyone.

Until we find the culprit, we can't let even our friends know."
