Chapter 182 Relic conundrum Part 3

Chapter 182 Relic conundrum Part 3

When silence was finally made in the lecture hall, Jon Hunter stepped forward and assumed the leadership role. He asked everyone to take a seat according to their alignment but, somehow, Uriel ended up sitting in between Medusa and Tina.

"Is that jerk really your uncle?" Uriel asked.

"No, he's just a friend of the family I've known for a long time." Medusa replied shaking her head and Uriel felt relieved by this. Even though he wasn't expecting to kill Jon anytime soon, he felt something inside of him, almost like a voice telling him that he couldn't possibly forgive him.

"Where is Sam?" Uriel asked in a hushed voice.

"He said he was going to look out for Luna, but if he doesn't find her soon he'll just come here."

The place was starting to get crowded as people from the Mapple corp. and the army kept arriving at the scene. Things were moving fast, but at least Uriel knew they wouldn't be able to actually enter the dungeon without the relic he had in his possession which should give him the ability to stall the meeting for however long he wanted, or that was what he thought until Jon started speaking.

"The reason why we're here is because we're running out of time. If we don't open the dungeon soon, we might be unable to do it for who knows how long." Although dungeons were supposed to remain a secret, everyone in the room was in the know about them and it was safe to discuss the plan, though Jon wasn't aware of that fact and he was simply being careless.

"The reason for this is the presence of a horror level cryptid in the lost city."

"No way! It's a beginner hunting zone, something like that is impossible!" One of the soldiers exclaimed as he slammed the desk in front of him.

"As you all know, cryptids are lured by energy signatures. Well, that isn't the case for all of them. Apparently, this particular cryptid is the guardian of the dungeon. I faced it and won, but that thing can't be destroyed and I was forced to retreat."

"You can't possibly expect us to believe you fought against a horror level cryptid and survived, let alone won the fight." Ethan scoffed at Jon.

"What do you mean?"

"Cryptids are gathering massively at the lost city and for some unknown reason, they're cooperating between them. Usually, certain cryptids would feed upon the weaker ones but that isn't the case anymore." Seiren handed Jon a tablet so he could project the pictures for everyone, but apparently he couldn't operate it even at a basic level and she had to do it for him.

"How is this possible? I thought cryptids can't be photographed!" Pangiotis exclaimed.

"Those are just regular statues for reference. This cryptids look just like regular sculptures and there's no way to tell them apart. They seem to be made of either volcanic stone or marble, but don't pay much attention to it as they can shift in between them at will."

The next pictures were of regular people, some standing right next to an identical twin and this time Seiren explained. "The next type of cryptid is the shapeshifters."

"They're called skinwalkers." Uriel butted in.

"You know, I've been patient enough but you shouldn't even be here. Go outside and wait for orders."

"Orders? Who do you think you are to give orders to my employee?" Nika stepped in the lecture hall wearing a black leather jacket.

"Me? I'm no one, just a colonel in the army, a heavenly rank hunter and a member of the Jacobs family." Ethan grinned.

"I don't care about what backwater family you come from, I don't care about any of that actually. You can't boss him around without my permission." Nika's words caused Uriel to twitch in anger. Even though he understood why she claimed he was her employee, it still irked him. Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire

'You'll pay for this, Nika.' He bit his lips while consoling himself thinking on what punishment to give her later.
