Chapter 123 The kiss part 1
Chapter 123 The kiss part 1
Tom woke up in the middle of the night. After tossing and turning over and over, no matter how much he tried, he couldn't take his mind off from the statue in the basement.
Was it curiosity? was it desire?
He couldn't tell.
Tom wasn't from a wealthy background, he had enough money to get by thanks to the his father working for the Jacobson family, but ever since he signed up for college things have been difficult for him. All he wanted was to get a degree and work in whatever company that would allow him to have a decent lifestyle, but he never expected Mark to move to his city, let alone pick him as one of his goons.
Tom was very different from Will and Bert who enjoyed tagging along with Mark and taking part in his usual thuggish behavior. In spite of looking like the average football player and having a bad reputation for hanging out with Mark all the time, Tom was far from a school delinquent and he had always been in touch with his emotions.
Every single time he took part in Mark's shenanigans he felt as though a part of his soul died.
After spending just one semester with Mark he couldn't picture himself staying in college any longer and he wanted out. The only reason why he put up with him was because of his parents, who always nagged at him to remain on Mark's good side as the very job of his father was on the line.
Now Tom felt empty inside and couldn't care less about getting a degree anymore. There was only one thing he wanted and it was something no one could give him, or was it?
Tom got up, grabbed one of the lanterns and frantically headed to the basement. He gasped at the sight of the beautiful sculpture and all of his worries went away immediately.
Her full lips, her alluring figure, her life-like pose, everything about the statue made it feel as though she was a living person rather than cold carved stone.
"Don't touch my treasure!" Uriel, who followed Tom thinking he was going to steal the religious artifacts for himself, hissed pointing his revolver at Tom.
"Your what? I'm not here because of that. You can take everything for all I care." Tom replied.
Luna fell into silence as she couldn't actually rebuke any of Medusa's claims. It wasn't for nothing that she never had any friends before and she was aware that her behavior was far from being considered normal, but there was nothing she could do about it.
Uriel, Sam and Medusa had been the only ones who ever put up with her and for that reason, she always expected things to end like that at some point.
"You're a jerk. You're really hot, but you're also a jerk." Sam butted in.
"How dare you!"
"Even if she's your friend, I still think is wrong to go off like that on an autistic girl like that ." Sam replied finally giving an explanation to Luna's strange character.
Though instead of ending the fight, the whole group fell into chaos as everyone started fighting each other over nonsensical stuff.
Medusa resented Luna for her coldness and Uriel for always ignoring her advances, Mark was attacking Uriel as always, Mary and Sophie both exploded at Tina who was now throwing a fit because she could never be herself in front of other people.
Uriel started complaining on how everyone but him had it so easy and how a single piece of the small treasure in the storage room would have been enough to make his life so much easier.
The only one who remained unaffected was Luna. She was much more self conscious than the lot of them and she was starting to suspect everyone was under the influence of some strange ability that somehow enhanced human emotion. She did feel it too, but her emotions had always been behind a wall and she felt them as something distant.
She wanted to find the answer to what was happening and stop the fight, but all the noise and the foul smell coming from the vampires outside was driving her crazy. She couldn't focus and she was losing herself in the middle of the chaos. She did her best to avoid falling into despair and losing control, but she couldn't do it alone.
At times like this Cassandra would come and squeezed her in her arms, with just the right amount of pressure to keep her from spiraling down into a tantrum.
Being told off by Medusa also didn't help in the slightest and Luna began crying as she curled up into a ball on the ground and everything seemed lost.
