Chapter 68
C68 – A Hellish Scene
“I’m going to die!”
Qin Mo exclaimed in shock, his heart drowning in despair.
The leopard claw loomed menacingly in his vision, poised to sever his neck.
Yet, in this dire moment, an irresistible force suddenly took hold of Qin Mo’s body.
His form was propelled away, narrowly escaping the Leopardhead’s lethal strike.
“Who dares to disrupt my plans?”
The Leopardhead seethed with anger, bellowing sternly.
Qin Mo instinctively glanced behind him, and upon seeing Loong Chen’s familiar face, a glimmer of hope ignited within him.
“Sir, thank you for saving my life!”
Qin Mo bowed to Loong Chen, intuitively deducing that the irresistible force had been unleashed by him.
Loong Chen nodded at Qin Mo before fixing his gaze on the Leopardhead.
“You’re neither zombies, mutated beasts, nor humans, yet you converse in our language. I’m quite intrigued. What manner of creatures are you?”
Loong Chen inquired of the Leopardhead.
“Do you wish to uncover the answer? When I’ve beaten you to your last breath, I’ll gladly enlighten you.”
The Leopardhead grinned malevolently, its large leopard eyes gleaming with a sinister, blood-red light.
It was evident that the young human had rescued the elderly man.
He dared to challenge the leopard and steal its prey, risking his own life!
“Go ahead and speak.”
Loong Chen stated nonchalantly, and as soon as the words left his lips, he vanished from his original position.
“Where did that person go just now?”
The Leopardhead was taken aback, but it quickly heard a familiar voice behind it.
“Are you looking for me?”
The Leopardhead’s expression abruptly shifted. It turned around hastily, but before it could get a clear look, it received a forceful blow to its abdomen.
The Leopardhead was propelled like a cannonball, soaring through the air and crashing into several walls before finally coming to a halt.
However, time was of the essence. Another second wasted might result in the death of a Jinling City resident.
“Director Qin, please simplify the current situation for me,” Loong Chen requested of Qin Mo.
As the dean of Dongfang Academy, Qin Mo undoubtedly possessed more knowledge than Loong Kui and the others.
“Certainly, Master. I am unsure of the Orcs’ origin, but they likely hail from the Jade Gorge Mountain outside the city. There were several hundred of them, including over ten Level 3 Orcs and even a few Level 4 ones. The Leopardhead’s leader is the most formidable among them, boasting a strength level of at least Level 4 Mid Rank.”
“Currently, this group of Orcs has breached Jinling City. I attempted to contact the City Lord and Zhang Qibing, but I could not establish communication with them. I am unaware of their current status.”
Qin Mo provided Loong Chen with all the information he possessed.
Several hundred Orcs, equivalent to advanced zombies and mutated beasts, included over ten Level 3 and higher beings. For a modest locale like Jinling City, this constituted a natural catastrophe.
While Jinling City may have numerous Evolvers, fewer than a hundred had reached Level 2 or higher.
Furthermore, only three Level 3 Evolvers were present. How could they defend against the Orc onslaught?
“To rescue Jinling City, we must eliminate the most formidable of these Orcs.”
Loong Chen’s voice resonated deeply.
“Qin Mo, start by eliminating the remaining Orcs within Dongfang Academy. If you find yourself unable to defeat them, don’t hesitate to withdraw.”
“Understood, Master.”
Qin Mo nodded solemnly in response to Loong Chen.
Loong Chen led Loong Kui and Bai Xiaohan out of Dongfang Academy.
He couldn’t trust anyone else to protect Loong Kui and Bai Xiaohan. They were safest by his side.
Upon exiting Dongfang Academy, Loong Chen realized that the situation in the city was even more dire than within the academy’s walls.
From every direction, cries for help, mournful wails, and the gruesome sounds of Orcs feasting on flesh and blood echoed. The overpowering scent of blood assaulted his senses. Jinling City appeared to have transformed into a nightmarish landscape.
Alarming shouts emanated from nearby, prompting Loong Chen to swiftly guide Bai Xiaohan and Loong Kui in that direction.
When they heard someone in distress, they couldn’t purposefully ignore it.
Soon, Loong Chen identified the source of the cries—a blacksmith’s workshop.
Over a dozen people had gathered inside the shop, including men, women, the elderly, and children. In front of them stood two menacing Orcs.
These individuals were all ordinary citizens. They watched in fear as the Orcs advanced with hungry saliva dripping from their mouths. Forced to retreat continually, they had nowhere left to run and were now resigned to their fate.
Heart-wrenching sobs of children, along with the weeping of women and elderly, filled the air.
Among them, five or six middle-aged men had exceptionally pale faces.
