Chapter 61 Complete
Chapter 61 Complete
I never expected to end up staying in this hostel for several days.
For the next few days, Vijay stayed indoors at the hotel.
The main reason was to avoid going out again and encountering that arrogant Kshatriya and his henchmen, which could cause further trouble.
I might be fine then, but it will inevitably delay my trip!
Although the finest wines and delicacies from Suliyepuri have been delivered to my room these past few days, and the maids have been gentle, considerate, and attentive to my every need.
Vijay's heart was always filled with anxiety, and he could not find true peace.
Because all those sent out to search for the Spring Rain Grass found nothing!
The caravan searched almost the entire city of Suliyepuri, asking every medicine merchant, traveler, and even ascetic monk, but still no one knew of Spring Rain Grass, and no one had ever seen what it looked like.
The patience of everyone in the caravan was almost exhausted after several days of waiting.
Vijay remained calm and even formally accepted the two Shudra servants who had sworn allegiance to him in prison.
He specially invited a master to preside over a simple yet solemn ceremony to receive the servants.
The moment the ceremony was completed, Vijay opened the system panel and examined it carefully.
As expected! In addition to the previous four, there are new character cards!
"Master (2/5)"
What's going on with Kara's attribute panel?
Vijay glanced at it silently and immediately guessed what was going on, then secretly rejoiced.
If it weren't for the system that allows him to directly view loyalty and ability, he would never know the hidden thoughts and dangers of this person based solely on verbal oaths!
If we're not careful, it could very well lead to disaster!
I wonder who's behind this?
Vijay made no announcement or take any action.
It was the morning of the sixth day.
Vijay was praying quietly by the window, trying to calm his restless mind.
Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door.
"Who?" Vijay immediately stood up, his heart pounding.
Upon hearing who would knock on the door at this hour, he almost blurted out, "Any news? Did you find Spring Rain Grass?"
He suddenly flung open the door.
But the people standing outside the door were not any of the caravan members he knew.
Instead, it was someone he never expected to appear here—the two-headed snake-man who had left a deep impression on him and made him wary of him at the Royal Inn in Harappa City.
Now he stood in front of him again.
Vijay's mind raced.
The answer to the eerie gaze that had flashed by at the Harappa hostel, which had left him feeling uneasy, was finally revealed at this moment.
This alien race had indeed been eyeing him since then.
Vijay's entire body tensed up instantly, and his alertness reached its peak.
He didn't know if the other person was following him alone or had an entire tribe supporting them, whether the other person was friend or foe, or what the other person's purpose was in following him so meticulously all this time.
The snake-man, however, did not provide any unnecessary build-up.
The snake on the left, with its gentle voice, spoke first, a hint of a half-smile on its lips: "What was that saying again? Brahma above, what a coincidence, the wind has brought us together again."
The gentle-looking man on the right interrupted impatiently in a hoarse voice: "Don't be so polite with him, he won't appreciate your kindness."
As he spoke, he reached out and took a roughly sewn cloth bag from his waist, handing it to Vijay without saying a word.
"What you want is spring rain grass!"
Vijay was startled and subconsciously looked down at the cloth bag.
He slowly reached out and carefully opened the bag.
The bag contained sections of strangely shaped root-like objects with a dark purple outer skin and a hard texture. Thick, milky-white sap was slowly oozing from the broken ends. The shapes vaguely resembled some kind of hibernating insect, making it look eerie and mysterious.
"This is Spring Rain Grass?" Vijay's voice trembled slightly.
"That's right," the snake-man said calmly, his words neither confirming nor denying.
Vijay didn't take it immediately. He raised his head sharply and looked directly at the other person: "Why are you helping me? How did you know I was looking for this?"
The snake-man simply smiled and did not answer.
Seeing that Vijay refused to take it, he simply threw the bag at Vijay's feet, then his figure blurred, and he retreated like a ghost.
Vijay instinctively rushed out to chase after him, but in just a few seconds of hesitation, the end of the corridor was already deserted.
The speed is beyond imagination!
What's going on?
Vijay, puzzled, prepared to go back inside, but when he turned his head, he saw a figure floating there across the corridor like a ghost, without saying a word.
He had clearly seen everything that had just happened.
Vijay walked up to Mu and asked in a low voice, "How much do you know about that two-headed snake-man?"
After a moment of silence, his large pupils trembled slightly, and he slowly nodded.
His trembling voice seemed to press directly into Vijay's ears: "The Two-Headed Clan, that's what the Venerables usually call them!"
"They are very ancient and very powerful. They have inherited a set of traditions beyond the protection of Brahma. They are skilled in warfare and mysterious! Unless absolutely necessary, it is best not to have any involvement with them, let alone become their enemy."
Vijay sighed softly, his eyes filled with complex emotions: "I didn't want to get involved with them either, but it seems they've been watching me since Harappa City!"
Upon hearing this, Mu could only remain silent.
That's just a long-term concern; Vijay needs to deal with the immediate problems first.
Now that they had a sample, Vijay immediately gathered all the core members of the caravan together.
Vijay distributed samples and instructed them to follow the clues, each carrying enough coins to search in all directions.
Finally, we've reaped some rewards.
Laka, his newly acquired servant, discovers the truth about Spring Rain Grass.
This grass has many other names among the lower classes. It looks like grass roots or insects and often grows in the dark, low-lying areas where Dalits live. It is a weed that they often use as food. It is not recognized by orthodox doctors and Brahmins and will not appear in the open market.
That's why they came up empty-handed a few days ago!
After all, no one would have thought that a high-class caravan would need such lowly weeds!
But Vijay's orders still made them obey, and within half a day, a whole truckload of spring rain grass had been loaded.
At the same time, Vijay added two more wagons, fully loaded with weeds!
Now, all the necessary preparations have been completed.
Vijay stood at the entrance of the inn, taking one last look at the golden, glazed city of Suliyepuri.
This is the birthplace of his ancestors, and also the place where he first fell into prison and glimpsed his family's secrets.
Vijay had a feeling that his connection with this city wouldn't end here!
"Pass down the order," Vijay's clear voice echoed throughout the courtyard, "Form the ranks, prepare the carts and horses, and set off!"
