This is strange because according to some official information, Tyran was 34 years old at the time!
Tirion Fordring, one of the five original paladins, was exiled by the Alliance shortly after the end of the Second War. However, in Thrall's storyline, the old orc who was rescued was captured and soon met the Warchief of the new Horde, and was then rescued by Thrall.
If Tyrande Ferdinand was truly thirty-four, Arthas would still be two years away from dying as Ashbringer, meaning Arthas would be under 34 at that time. (This is based on retconned Warcraft Chronicles, so we'll use the version from Classic 20s where Arthas was around 34.)
Therefore, the timeline doesn't match up at all. According to calculations by players and some Warcraft enthusiasts, Tyrandeidah should be about 7 to 8 years younger than Arthas. In the classic version of World of Warcraft, his age should be 21 to 22.
This kid's combat strength isn't that great; a paladin can be killed by a priest. But his father is a real big shot; Tirion Fordring should still be living in seclusion nearby.
"Lord Rhodes, watch the sky! Cast some area-of-effect spells on the troops!" Arthas interrupted Rhodes's recollection.
"I understand! Give me the medicine!" Rhodes shouted to the soldier next to him who was in charge of transporting supplies.
The soldier hurriedly handed over several bottles of mana potions he had collected. Three of them were high-quality potions left behind by Jaina, while the others were low-quality recovery potions made locally in Hearthglen.
Without hesitation, Rhodes grabbed a bottle of inferior potion and gulped it down. A faint warm current spread through his body, and his magic began to recover.
The addition of an advanced mathematical wisdom boosted his magic points to 45.
"Hold on! Jaina will be back with reinforcements soon! The Knights of the Silver Hand are on their way!" Arthas's roar echoed across the battlefield, filled with unwavering determination.
However, the number of the dead seemed endless.
Arthas and his elite Lordaeron soldiers could hold the line on the front lines, but the gargoyles in the sky had already begun their high-altitude attacks.
"Ah!"
"No!" A series of shrill screams came from the arrow tower as many militiamen were grabbed by the gargoyles and thrown to their deaths.
Their heads could even be severed by sharp claws, making aerial units a huge problem.
"Protective Shield, Stone Skin." Rhodes raised his hand and released two beneficial spells, directly applying them to Arthas and the soldiers in the front row.
As long as the number of players does not exceed 9999, there is no limit to Rhodes's buff magic.
A massive green shield appeared before them, followed by a huge magical net that enveloped the front-line soldiers, casting two beneficial defensive spells upon them to better withstand the undead army.
After casting those two spells, Rhode immediately used his magic arrows to bombard a group of gargoyles that were huddled together, killing four of them instantly.
Having witnessed Rhodes's special magic, the gargoyles immediately scattered, giving Rhodes no chance to launch another group attack.
The coverage area of the Magic Arrow is still too small. It would be great if there were chain lightning or explosive fireballs, or even undead killer magic!
Unfortunately, the Undead Slayer skill will not appear in the Necropolis Castle.
Rhodes's palm flashed with blue and white light as he unleashed an Ice Arrow spell, combining it with an Ice Lance spell to begin picking off the gargoyles in the sky.
You little brats, don't think I can't handle you!
Scattering isn't enough! My ordinary magic can still wipe you out.
Rhodes' magic relieved the pressure on the defenders, and the battle lasted all night. During this time, Rhodes released two more magical arrows, killing two troublesome abominations.
After that, I used Frost Arrows and Ice Lance to kill the ghouls in the sky.
The undead army didn't retreat until the early hours of the morning, when the sky was just beginning to lighten.
Arthas stood there, panting heavily. A whole night of fighting had left the young prince completely exhausted.
The other human soldiers were in even worse shape, collapsing to the ground in disarray. At this moment, they even had difficulty picking up their weapons.
"Soldiers, take a break while you can. Those evil spirits will not give up!"
"An even fiercer battle awaits us tonight," Arthas said wearily.
Lieutenant Farek immediately nodded and began directing elite soldiers to collect the bodies of the fallen, pile up the corpses of the dead, and then burn them.
But whether it was just his imagination or not, Farek noticed that the number of undead troops seemed to have decreased, and some of their corpses appeared to have disappeared.
After the battle ended, Rhodes breathed a sigh of relief. Hawkeye Tree did not learn any magic in this battle because the enemy did not have any spellcasting units, and Arthas fought in melee combat from beginning to end, occasionally using Flash of Light.
However, there were still gains. After a glorious victory, Rhodes gained a full 1850 experience points, which is about 1400 experience points away from leveling up to level four.
It takes 3200 experience points to upgrade from level 3 to level 4, 4600 to level 5, 6200 to level 6, and 8000 to level 7.
Each time a hero's level increases, the experience gained from leveling up increases by 20%, but it becomes increasingly difficult to level up as you progress!
I wonder if there are any other ways to increase my thinking attribute. Relying solely on leveling up isn't a good idea!
In addition to gaining experience, Rhodes's Necromancy once again proved its power, summoning a full 100 skeletons. The number of skeleton soldiers has now exceeded 400!
Chapter 19 The Lich Invasion! Brother Qiang's Surprise Attack
After the battle temporarily ended, Rhodes was also given a private room and got a good night's sleep.
However, he only rested for a few hours before being woken up by Arthas's men at noon.
“I’m sorry to disturb your rest, Lord Rhodes, but there is indeed something I need to trouble you with,” Arthas said apologetically.
“It’s alright, Your Highness. You and I both fought all night, but it seems you haven’t rested at all. I at least managed to get a few hours of sleep! Is something wrong? Is there anything I can do to help you?” Rhodes asked.
"Thank you for your understanding, Lord Rhodes!"
"Here's what happened," Arthas said. "My guards detected an undead army attacking nearby villages and turning the villagers into undead creatures."
Rhodes nodded upon hearing this. This was a minor incident during the human campaign; a troop of undead soldiers was attacking the surrounding villages.
“Their leader is a lich called the Ghost Child of Karith. I think if any of us here could kill him, besides myself, it would be Lord Rhodes,” Arthas said.
It seems that during his rest period, Arthas had clearly sent out reconnaissance troops to investigate the enemy's strength and weaknesses.
Kalis's Ghost Child! This guy is also a lich! Just not as strong as Kel'Thuzad.
It appears in the Human campaign and was guaranteed to appear before version 1.07. After that, it will appear randomly as a Lich.
Later, this lich named Kael'thas followed the dreadlord Magannis to the continent of Northrend, where he was eventually killed by Arthas upon landing there.
So this guy was the one leading the undead army to attack the surrounding villages!
“I understand now, Your Highness Arthas. You want me to go and destroy this lich, right?” Rhodes asked.
To be honest, Rhodes was a little unsure about facing a lich alone. He was more confident if he could bring out the undead army and then summon Stronker.
"No! Lord Rhodes, it's daytime now, the undead army shouldn't launch a large-scale attack!"
"I will lead an elite force to deal with this lich, and I hope that you can help protect our base while I am away," Arthas said.
Of course, he didn't intend to let Rhodes deal with the lich, but planned to go himself. However, the only high-level combatant he could trust in the camp was Rhodes, which is why he had someone wake Rhodes up!
“I understand, Prince Arthas. You can go without worry! I will stay behind at the base,” Rhodes nodded and said.
It would be better if we could avoid dealing with this lich; Rhodes doesn't want to expose his undead army right now!
After discussing the matter with Rhodes, Arthas nodded to Rhodes and left behind several dozen elite soldiers.
He led the remaining hundred or so people directly out of Hearthglen to attack the undead army that was infecting the surrounding villages.
After taking over the defense authority from Arthas, Rhodes became very tense, began patrolling the surrounding area, and arranged for the militia to be on duty.
An hour after Arthas left, an undead army of several hundred people, led by a few abominations and with gargoyles flying in the sky, appeared in everyone's sight.
The leader of the undead hovered in mid-air, exuding a chilling aura. It wore a black magic robe, revealing a skeletal face and a body that had completely transformed into a skeleton.
The lich alone was two and a half meters tall, exuding an aura of death, and looked like a menacing creature.
It seems that the lich did not go after Arthas, but chose to attack itself instead. Or perhaps the undead caravan was just bait, and its real target was Hearthglen.
"Lord Rhodes, they've attacked. What should we do?" Arthas's lieutenant, Farek, asked Rhodes.
"Lieutenant Farek, you are better at arranging the army for defense than I am, so I'll leave the defense to you!"
"I'll deal with that lich," Rhodes said to Farek.
If you really think I'm an easy target, you're sorely mistaken!
"I understand, Lord Rhodes. Please be careful." Lieutenant Farek nodded to Rhodes and immediately jogged away to arrange for the militia and the Hearthglen army to defend the area.
Rhodes took a deep breath in front of the gates of Hearthglen and then summoned his hero's warhorse.
He immediately fired an ice arrow and made a provocative gesture towards the lich in front of him.
"Let's find a secluded spot and have a one-on-one fight!"
The lich opposite was clearly amused by Rhodes, letting out a strange laugh before gesturing for him to proceed.
Rhodes and the lich on the opposite side left one after the other, but before leaving, Rhodes cast two defensive spells on the defenders: Protective Shield and Stone Skin.
If I can hold out until I get back, there shouldn't be any major problems, right?
The two chased and fled until they arrived at a forest next to Hearthglen.
"Is this the burial ground you chose, mage?" the lich in front of him asked with a cold snort.
“No, no, to be precise, this is your burial place, not mine,” Rhodes said.
"I want to know where you get your confidence to dare to talk to me..." Before the lich in front of him could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a terrifying aura of death coming from behind him.
A death knight clad in black armor and wielding a massive spear appeared behind him at some unknown time.
This time, Rhodes didn't intend to fight the lich alone; instead, he summoned his bodyguard, Stanker.
So the reason for summoning this lich to leave the city for a duel was to deceive others.
As a spellcaster, you'll suffer if you're caught in close combat by a melee class.
Within a certain distance, Rhodes can choose the location where Scythe descends, so descending directly behind the Lich to launch a sneak attack is the perfect option.
Even before the fight started, Rhodes instructed Stanker to cast an attack speed boost on himself, which was Stanker's own magic!
"Damn it! You!" The lich in front of him was completely caught off guard and had no idea that a terrifying undead knight would suddenly appear behind him.
Qiang Ge didn't give the opponent any chance to react. His spear pierced through the lich's chest, and he drew his knight's sword from his waist, slashing at the lich's head.
Just heard a click!
A white skull fell to the ground; the lich Caris was killed instantly by a surprise attack orchestrated by Rhodes and Stronk.
“Master, I can sense that his life-protecting casket is nearby. I will go and retrieve it, otherwise we will not be able to completely kill this lich.”
Chapter 20: Slay the Lich, Random Wild Resource Rewards?
Although its head had been chopped off, the skull on the ground continued to curse, clearly not quite dead.
Rod nodded upon hearing this, as the saying goes!
