Chapter 39 The Auction Reopens - Part 2
Chapter 39 The Auction Reopens - Part 2
After entrusting the task of making the amulets to the dwarves who averaged over five meters in height, Vega gathered enough herbs and went into the laboratory.
It wasn't until after 7 p.m. the next day that he came out of the laboratory. After collecting the more than two thousand mind protection amulets made by the dwarves and exchanging them for some magical items that the dwarves usually practiced crafting, Vega returned to Earth and arrived at the Allied Forces' headquarters.
Since Vega hadn't returned all day, Monica came to the Allied headquarters to communicate, set up the venue, and receive the guests.
Vega found her, and while eating the Chinese dinner she had specially prepared for him, he asked, "Has anyone caused trouble because of her?"
Vega was referring to a superstar, and she was standing motionless to the left behind Monica, like a statue.
Monica: "Yes, but I dealt with it. The high-ranking officials of the five countries gave up on detaining her, but they wanted to learn about the invaders and intelligence in space from the supergiant. I agreed."
"Yes, it's good for them to know what's going on in space, so they don't just fight amongst themselves all the time." Vega nodded, then asked, "Are all the people attending the auction here?"
Monica: "All the previous clients have arrived, and the superhumans, except for Dr. Banner, Gwen, and Bana, are all here too."
"Alright, it's about time, let's begin." Vega put down his chopsticks, stood up, and followed Monica to the auction venue.
The auction venue was located on the upper floor of the command center's main hall. All participants had already arrived and were waiting. Representatives from various countries, family representatives, and extraordinary individuals were seated in three separate areas.
Many people in the area representing national and family members had been paying close attention to the superhumans. Many wanted to come over and talk to them, but seeing the officials from the five major nations sitting at the front whispering among themselves, they gave up the idea that they were destined to be punished.
Iron Man Tony Stark surveyed the scene, looking at the identities of everyone in the other two areas marked by his smart glasses, and exclaimed, "These are all big shots. I think I know where his wife's money came from."
Knowing the identities of those people, he realized just how high-level this auction was, but at the same time he felt a little dissatisfied. Judging from how familiar those people were with each other, the auction must have been held many times before, but he knew nothing about it.
He's a top-tier tycoon and a super scientist, how could that guy not invite me? Does he look down on him that much?
He looked at the crowd and asked, "Has any of you participated before? Do you know what the auction items are?"
Captain America Steve Rogers: "I haven't participated, but Fury showed me some information. Most of the auction items are magical potions, magical combat dolls, and magical supernatural items. Ordinary items can be purchased with cash, stocks, antiques, or resources, while more valuable items can only be bartered."
Not only him, but the other captains also learned about the auction from their respective countries and obtained a lot of funds to participate in the auction.
Tony Stark asked in surprise, "Those things were all bought at an auction?"
During the fight against the invaders, he also used some magical potions and witnessed people from several major countries using combat dolls and some extraordinary items. He inquired about the origin of these things, but the response he received was always "no comment."
The other superhumans, unaware of the situation, immediately stirred when they learned that these were the items to be auctioned. They had personally experienced how effective these items, especially the magical potions, were.
However, these people quickly became frustrated. It was obvious that these things were expensive, and most of them didn't have much money. They would probably just be spectators in the end.
"Aren't we going to start?" Thor was bored. He didn't want to come, but most of his friends who had fought alongside him were here, and it would be too much of an oddity for him not to come.
"It should be soon." Captain Marvel Carol Danvers teased the Flerken Goo Goo nestled in her arms. She wasn't impatient; she was interested in many of the auction items, and Nick Fury had prepared enough money for her.
Shortly after Captain Marvel finished speaking, Vega pushed open the door and walked in: "Good evening, everyone. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long. I've just finished preparing tonight's auction items."
"Because of the tight schedule, there aren't many regular auction items this time, and the variety isn't complete either. But don't worry, I won't ruin my reputation. I specially asked a friend to quickly make more than two thousand Mind Defense Amulets and also exchanged some extraordinary items."
"But before the auction begins, let's look at some video footage. It's very important, so please watch it carefully." After saying this, Vega took out a USB drive, put it into the controller of a virtual stereoscopic player made by Stark Industries that had been specially installed, and then turned off the room lights to start playing the video.
A three-dimensional image of the Earth appeared in the center of the room. The image continued to zoom in, and soon a modern metropolis appeared.
Some people quickly recognized it as Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States.
As the image zoomed in, clear city streets came into view. The dilapidated streets and scattered bones caused everyone to gasp in shock, and many even stood up.
The scene moves rapidly, showing streets, world-famous metropolises, and unknown small villages, all depicting chilling apocalyptic scenes.
A dozen minutes later, the scene shifted to a news video, featuring familiar and unfamiliar superheroes, supervillains, and ordinary humans fighting and eating each other!
More than an hour later, after the Punisher finished recounting the leak of Survivor 118's potion in a somber tone, the video recording ended.
Vega turned on the lights, returned to the stage, looked around the audience, and explained with a serious expression: "These images are real, and they happened on Earth in another universe."
Survivor 118 was manufactured in a U.S. official laboratory there. The reason it ended up in the hands of the gang was to test the drug's effects.
Unfortunately, they underestimated the potency of that drug. In just four years, fewer than 100,000 people remained worldwide, and the number is rapidly decreasing.
"The reason I'm showing this video footage to everyone is because I know that after this alien invasion, countries will definitely research more powerful weapons and launch various super soldier programs in order to improve their strength."
"It is the right thing to increase our strength to protect the Earth, and I cannot and will not persuade you to give up."
I just hope that after learning about the tragedy that happened on Earth, you will be more cautious and pay more attention to safety!
