Chapter 37 The Chitauri Invasion - The End
Chapter 37 The Chitauri Invasion - The End
"That's impossible!"
"Dude, how much fake alcohol have you been drinking?"
"We know you admire your father a lot, always talking about him, but you can't go this far with your praise, can you?"
"Yeah, what you're saying is way too unbelievable. Do you even know how big the Milky Way is?"
Captain Marvel's words might have been a bit exaggerated, but what you're saying is completely utter nonsense—like a blind man putting on his pants!
Faced with the crowd's doubts, Thor calmly replied, "Don't use your shallow understanding to doubt the greatness of the gods."
And although I often skip classes, my knowledge of the Milky Way far surpasses that of you humans.
Thor's arrogant words made everyone uncomfortable, but the abandoned Chitauri soldiers were still fighting. Now was not the time to argue with Thor, so at the signal of several captains, everyone shut their mouths, clearing away the soldiers while continuing to keep an eye on the shrinking space passage and the astonishing Temple II mothership on the other side.
Temple 2 remained motionless, hovering in place as it retrieved the triangular dart-shaped spaceships.
The spatial passage quickly and completely closed and disappeared. Then, in the next instant, all the Chitauri soldiers, aircraft, and war machines came to a complete stop as if the power had been cut off.
All the superhumans relaxed, and the ordinary soldiers a little further away, the personnel in the command center, and everyone who was paying attention to the battlefield situation breathed a sigh of relief. Soon after, the news of humanity's victory was reported, and the world was plunged into a sea of joy.
Seeing the spatial portal close, Vega used the supergiant he now controlled to teleport him back to the battlefield, retrieved the Apocalypse Orb, and approached the group: "Hello everyone, I'm the healer. Is anyone injured?"
Everyone shook their heads; their injuries had long since been healed.
Captain America: "Lee, what's going on with her?"
Vega: "I've subdued her; she's my prisoner now."
Captain America frowned: "Lee, you should hand her over to the Allied forces."
Vega shook his head: "She's a psychic; the Allied Forces can't hold her."
Just kidding, how could I possibly hand over a prisoner I captured while acting?
He didn't have evil intentions because he saw that the superstar had a good physique. Psychic abilities are extremely rare, and don't think that the superstar is weak just because he could easily take him down. If it were anyone else who was approached by the superstar, they would most likely become his puppet.
Vega foresaw that he would face many crises in the future, and might even need to frequently "travel" to other universes to save the day, so he planned to have Supergiant be Monica's personal bodyguard.
To prevent any accidents, he didn't use his mental power to control the supergiant, but instead used the power of the phoenix to rewrite her fate, altering the causal relationship between her and himself, and turning her into his servant.
"You..." Captain America tried to persuade him, but Vega raised his hand to interrupt him: "Let's not talk about that. Do you know where Loki is? Only when we catch him can this matter truly be over."
"No, he hasn't appeared since the invasion began." Captain America shook his head, then looked at Thor: "Thor, can you find your brother?"
Thor scratched his head: "Uh, this is difficult. Loki is a sorcerer, and he has many ways to hide himself from people."
"Let's search the surrounding area first," Vega suggested. He, Superstar, Captain Britain, Captain Marvel, and Thor then split up and searched an area of over 100 kilometers around, but they found no trace of Loki.
Everyone's face darkened. Loki was too dangerous; no one could feel at ease until they caught him.
Vega was at a loss: "Looks like we can only wait for him to show himself."
Unable to find Loki, and with no need to clean up the battlefield or deal with the Manhattan henchmen, Vega briefly introduced himself to the group of superhumans and arranged to have dinner together the next day before requesting to leave.
Gwen and Bana are going to Manhattan to find George, and the Wild Band girls are going to follow them. Vega leaves with Superstar and Dr. Banner, who has nowhere to go and owes Vega money.
Upon seeing Monica, Vega was so excited he didn't know what to do; he was about to become a father!
This sudden news left Vega completely bewildered. Even when Monica, who had mistakenly thought he had brought back a wild woman, pinched his waist repeatedly, he felt no pain and just grinned foolishly.
Having lived two lives, he is now nearly fifty years old and is finally going to have offspring.
Monica waved her free left hand in front of Vega's eyes: "Hey, hey, stop grinning like an idiot. Aren't you going to introduce this lady to me?"
"Huh? What?" Vega snapped out of his daze and looked at Monica blankly.
Monica repeated herself. Vega, seeing her squinting, expressionless face, and constantly twisting the soft flesh around her waist, realized she had misunderstood and quickly explained, "Um, she's a superstar, one of the leaders of the invaders. I subdued her and plan to have her protect you."
Monica frowned: "She's not the gift you were talking about, is she?"
"Yes." Vega nodded, then told Monica about Superstar's abilities and reassured her that even if she ordered Superstar to commit suicide, Superstar would carry out the order without hesitation.
Monica: "Lee, didn't they stop you from bringing her back?"
Vega: "I came back as soon as the war was over. I didn't communicate with them. Don't worry, it's not a big problem. I can handle it."
"Alright then." Since Vega didn't care, she didn't say anything more.
After settling Dr. Banner in, Vega and she began to enjoy time together.
Later, Bana called back and said that they had dug George's body out of the ruins of the NYPD headquarters. Gwen was too heartbroken to make a decision, and she had no other relatives left. Bana asked her teacher for advice.
Vega had some suspicions that George had already sacrificed himself, but he did not intend to use his powers to resurrect George.
While resurrecting someone would be very simple for Vega now, he knows that this ability cannot be abused. He no longer has diplomatic immunity, and everything he does will trigger a series of reactions. Abusing his ability will backfire and lead to even worse consequences.
After thinking for a moment, Vega said to Bana, "George died fighting the intruders; he's a hero, and the other police officers who died are heroes too."
Find all their remains, then contact the government and let them handle the aftermath.
"By the way, notify them in my name, otherwise those idiots might drag their feet for ages, and might even renege on the compensation the police officers' families are entitled to."
