Chapter 10 The Village Beauty of the Infinite Beginner Village
Chapter 10 The Village Beauty of the Infinite Beginner Village
[↑Raccoon City, Mile 418]
Alice was driving a silver German Opel Kadett equipped with solar panels when she saw the words on the road sign in the distance, her gaze somewhat complicated.
Ten years ago, she awoke here and began her escape. From Raccoon City, Colorado, to Las Vegas, Nevada, from America to Tokyo, and ten years later, she is returning to Raccoon City, to the Hive, back to where it all began.
Suddenly, she saw that the passage under the overpass ahead was blocked by several cars. She frowned. Her flimsy little car, which she had picked up by the roadside, could not possibly break through these big guys—especially the armored vehicle that was blocking the middle of the road and almost blocking most of the highway.
Wait, an armored vehicle!
Alice slammed on the brakes, half-lying on the driver's seat, staring warily at the armored vehicle, fearing it might fire a rocket at her.
The armored vehicle seemed to have noticed her presence. The side door slowly opened, and a man dressed in tattered clothes waved to her, signaling her to come over.
trap?
Although the man seemed friendly, Alice had been fooled before, so she didn't approach him rashly.
"You're Alice, right?"
Seeing that she didn't respond, the man spoke up, "We're not with Umbrella Corporation. This armored vehicle is under our control. We learned from them that they wanted to capture you, so we're waiting for you here."
Alice wasn't surprised that Umbrella wanted to capture her; it had been going on for a while. Many of her clones had died at Umbrella's hands.
Alice remained unmoved, so the man simply pulled out a gun, fired a shot into the air, and then casually threw it at Alice.
Alice: ? ? ?
This was the first time she had ever seen such an operation. To gain the trust of a stranger, she gave him a gun. Wasn't she afraid that he might suddenly attack and hurt her?
During the Battle of Washington, the survivor base ran out of ammunition and food and was eventually wiped out. She herself was buried in the ruins and had nothing but a tactical knife. So after confirming that the gun was working, she picked it up without hesitation.
With the gun as a token of "sincerity," and the fact that the armored vehicle had not yet attacked her, Alice lowered her guard somewhat and slowly walked towards the armored vehicle. Then, she saw a familiar figure inside.
"Isaacs?"
Looking at Isaacs, who was tied up, Alice blurted out instinctively, "I killed you."
Alice had a deep impression of Isaacs, as he was the one who led her cloning and mass-produced a batch of "Alices." If their memories hadn't been able to connect briefly, she would have died at Isaacs's hands long ago.
"Because I am a clone."
The bound Isaacs shrugged and said self-deprecatingly.
Alice: ? ? ?
What kind of operation is this?
"Let me tell you about the current situation..."
Alice then noticed the handsome man standing in the center of the armored vehicle and raised an eyebrow. Now she was certain that this was definitely not Umbrella's plan.
As an elite company that treats the world as its private property, Umbrella Corporation has no Asians among its top executives. In a meeting to discuss using the T-virus to exterminate humanity, there were two Black people among the 18 Umbrella Corporation executives, including Isaacs and Alice's original body, Alicia Marcus, but not a single Asian.
After all, in the eyes of these white gentlemen, Asians are just a group of inferiors—just like Ji, the Asian in this armored vehicle, it is already a great honor to be able to risk his life for them.
So even if this was a plan to lure her in, the mastermind couldn't possibly be Asian.
Shen Yi omitted the fact that he knew the Soul Transfer Technique and simply explained to the village beauty of the Infinite Newbie Village how he infiltrated the armored vehicle, rescued the survivors inside, and took control of the armored vehicle. He then learned from Isaacs that he was going to hunt down Alice and about the antidote for the wind-borne toxin.
"My plan is simple: I'll pretend to kidnap you and take you to the Hive, then kill the top brass of Umbrella when they're not looking, take control of Umbrella, and release the antidote for the wind-borne toxin."
Alice suddenly realized why they were waiting for her here instead of going directly to the hive; they needed a "ticket," and she just happened to be that ticket.
"Will he help us?"
Alice glanced at Isaacs, who was tied up.
To get into the Hive, this armored vehicle alone won't be enough; Wesker isn't stupid. They'll need Isaacs, a high-ranking member of Umbrella Corporation.
"You forgot? He said he was a clone."
Although both Isaacs and the survivors were actually controlled by his mind-shifting technique, this was something that Alice certainly couldn't be told. It would only arouse her suspicion, as no one is unafraid of a superhuman who can control other people's minds.
So Shen Yi gave Isaacs a reason: Isaacs discovered that he was a clone.
The relationship between the clone Isaacs and the original is different from that between Alice and Alicia Marcus.
The latter has no identity crisis, only confusion about his own existence, but the former is an elitist—to the clone, as long as the original does not die, he is a defective product; to the original, as long as the clone does not die, wouldn't his world-destroying plan have been carried out in vain?
Alice quickly grasped this point and nodded, saying, "Good plan, I agree."
Her goal was to enter the hive. Going in alone would be fraught with danger, so it would be safer to be led in by someone. Therefore, even if it was a trap, she would still forge ahead.
"I've caught her."
Of course, before that, they needed to put on a show. Shen Yi first obtained Alice's consent, put a pair of handcuffs on her, and then activated the communication function of the armored vehicle to contact Wesker inside the Hive.
"Wesker!"
When Alice saw the man in sunglasses on the control panel, her eyes were filled with hatred. This wasn't acting; it was genuine, gnashing of teeth.
If Isaacs was the mad scientist tormenting her, then Wesker was the mastermind behind the apocalypse. If he hadn't gathered the survivors in Washington, they might not have perished so quickly.
What she didn't know was that Wesker was still doing this kind of thing. For example, he had bribed the survivor doctor in Raccoon City to gather survivors while waiting for Isaacs to lure in a horde of zombies so he could destroy it completely.
"This is impossible..."
Now it was Wesker's turn to be a little confused. When he saw Alice on the screen, he was completely dumbfounded. How could she still be alive in the scene of zombies everywhere during the Battle of Washington?
"It seems your 'Washington mission' hasn't gone as smoothly as you said."
Isaacs sneered, his tone quite disdainful.
"Why not get rid of her?"
Wesker frowned, already somewhat guessing why Alice had survived.
To gain Alice's trust, he injected her with the T-virus. Zombies generally don't attack T-virus infected individuals unless they make any significant movements.
"I want to take her back to the hive and do some experiments on her."
Isaacs's explanation fit his character perfectly, and Wesker didn't suspect a thing because other versions of Isaacs had done similar things. For example, in Resident Evil: Extinction, the clone Isaacs even injected himself with an injection, turning himself into a monster.
